The transition between two important stylistic phases of jazz, "swing" and "bebop," occurred during the early 1940s-the very years affected by the ban on recording called by the American Federation of Musicians in 1942. This study examines the relationship between jazz and the recording industry during this period, emphasizing the factors affecting the selection of repertory for recording. In particular, the rise of numerous independent recording companies in the wake of the settlement of the ban provided an environment conducive to the preservation and dissemination of the new bebop style.

Every company, regardless of the type or size of business is aiming to achieve the best results. These results are usually related to the profit and the ways to improve it. However, profit line in absolute terms is not sufficient enough as an indicator of the company's performance. Therefore, instruments expressed in profitability ratios are used. While different authors reveal various aspects of the concept of profitability, overall profitability ratios could be assessed as the evaluation of activities‘ results and the relationship of the means used to achieve it. Net profitability ratio is one of the main cornerstones in the process of company‘s performance evaluation. It provides information on the efficiency of company‘s main, other, financial and investment activities - the final result. In addition, the ratio helps to evaluate efficiency of financial resources management. The analysis of net profitability ratio and factors influencing it may help to determine which element could be adjusted or changed in order to improve the company‘s performance and to gain higher profits. The article investigates evaluation of net profitability, provides methodology for net profitability analysis, based on the summary of the various authors researches of pyramid systems on influence of various factors to the subject ratios. Methodology of net profitability analysis includes such stages as selection of companies for comparison of information, assessing information sources, application of pyramid analysis system, evaluation of results based on selected company‘s data and data of Department of Statistics, conclusions and suggestions. Chosen ratios of pyramid analysis, which reveal factors affecting the net profitability, reflects aspects of evaluation of efficiency of the assets, equity and current assets to equity ratio. Information collecting, comparison, grouping, systematization, generalization and pyramid analysis methods were used in the research.

Commuter’s modal choice is a complex phenomenon in urban transportation. It is a key determinant of modern transport planning. Commuters always want to get a hold on any mode at any point of time to meet their travel demand and the selection of mode depends on various factors associated with the commuting. In Savar Pourashava, modal choice by commuters varies with commuter’s socio-economic background and demographic characteristics. It also varies with the services that are provided by the various modes operating in the study area. The land use characteristics also affect the travel behavior pattern of commuters in the study area. The attitude and preference of commuters towards modes are also varied from each other. For achieving efficient and reliable transportation system in terms of modal choice of the commuters in the study area, it is essential to identity various factors affecting the travel pattern of the commuters. This research has attempted to identity these factors in modal choice and investigated over the mode that has been preferred by individual commuters and the reasons for selection of the mode. Beside this, the research has explored the relationship between land use characteristics and travel behavior pattern of the commuters.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jbip.v2i0.9569Journal of Bangladesh Institute of PlannersVol. 2, December 2009, pp. 78-97

This research aims to study the impact of a range of factors on the evaluation and selection of hotels, for that we’ve conducted a study based on the descriptive analytical approach, where 100 questionnaires were distributed to a random sample of tourists visiting the state of Djelfa- Algeria. The study found that the evaluation and selection of the hotel within the sample members is influenced by the range of factors covered by the study (the purpose of the visit, the definition of value by the visitor, the social and economic factors, age and gender, race or religion). Depending on the correlation coefficient value (R 0.885), the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable was strong, and the independent variable explains 77.2%of the dependent variable. Finally, the study has presented a set of recommendations, which conclude in:- Renovation and development of the interior design of hotels;- Annual training programs including the hotel staff and this is to learn about new trends in the hotel’s industry.

Subject. The working time of workers at any stage of economic development is a value reflecting the level of labor productivity. Any progress in productivity contributes to changes in the volume of labor costs and the number of employed. Depending on the relationship between the total volume of labor costs and the number of employed, the duration of working time per one worker may change (it may increase, decrease, or remain unchanged). Objectives. The study aims to confirm the importance of such a macroeconomic indicator as the number of employed in varying working hours. Methods. The study rests on the comparative analysis of countries with developed economies based on some indicators like dynamics of the working time fund, dynamics of the number of employed, average number of hours worked during the year per employee, etc. The analyzed timespan is 25 years (from 1991 to 2016). Results. The comparative analysis revealed that in the non-production sphere and the economy as a whole the macroeconomic determinants correlate so that the length of working time per worker reduces. When considering the analysis results for the manufacturing sector, no single trend was identified. Conclusions. One of the key factors affecting the change in working hours is the number of employed. The relationship between the working time fund and the number of employed directly determines the dynamics of working time per worker.

With the growing aridity of the climate on the Don, it became necessary to improve the methodology for conducting the  breeding of spring durum wheat. The main method of obtaining the source material remains intraspecific step hybridization. Crossings were performed between genetically distant forms, differing in origin and required traits and properties. The use of chemical mutagenesis was a productive way to change the heredity of genotypes in terms of drought tolerance. When breeding for productivity, both in dry years of research and in favorable years, the most objective markers were identified — the size of the aerial mass, the mass of grain per plant, spike, and harvest index. The magnitude of the correlation coefficients between the yield per unit area and the elements of its structure is established. It was most closely associated with them in dry years, while in wet years it decreased. Power the correlation of the characteristics of the pair - the grain yield per square meter - the aboveground biomass averaged r = 0.73, and in dry years it was higher (0.91) than in favorable ones (0.61 - 0.70) , between the harvest and the harvest index - r = 0.81 (on average). In dry years, the correlation coefficient increased to 0.92. Research data confirms the greatest importance of the mass of grain from one ear and the plant in the formation of grain yield per unit area in both dry and wet years. In dry years, the correlation coefficient between yield and grain mass per plant was on average r = 0.80; in favorable years, r = 0.69. The relationship between yield and grain mass from the ear was greater — r = 0.84 and r = 0.82, respectively. Consequently, the breeding significance of the aboveground mass and the productivity of the ear, as a criterion for the selection of the crop, especially increases in the dry years. They were basic in the selection.

Radin Inten II Airport is a national flight in Lampung Province. In this study using the technical analysis stated preference which is the approach by conveying the choice statement in the form of hypotheses to be assessed by the respondent. By using these techniques the researcher can fully control the hypothesized factors. To determine utility function for model forecasting in fulfilling request of traveler is used regression analysis with SPSS program. The analysis results obtained that the passengers of the dominant airport in the selection of modes of cost attributes than on other attributes. From the result of regression analysis, the influence of independent variable to the highest dependent variable is when the five attributes are used together with the R square value of 8.8%. The relationship between cost, time, headway, time acces and service with the selection of modes, the provision that states whether or not there is a decision. The significance of α = 0.05 with chi-square. And the result of Crame's V test average of 0.298 is around the middle, then the relationship is moderate enough.

Background: Combining optimized cognitive (Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale- Cognitive subscale, ADAS-Cog) and atrophy markers of Alzheimer's disease for tracking progression in clinical trials may provide greater sensitivity than currently used methods, which have yielded negative results in multiple recent trials. Furthermore, it is critical to clarify the relationship among the subcomponents yielded by cognitive and imaging testing, to address the symptomatic and anatomical variability of Alzheimer's disease. Method: Using latent variable analysis, we thoroughly investigated the relationship between cognitive impairment, as assessed on the ADAS-Cog, and cerebral atrophy. A biomarker was developed for Alzheimer's clinical trials that combines cognitive and atrophy markers. Results: Atrophy within specific brain regions was found to be closely related with impairment in cognitive domains of memory, language, and praxis. The proposed biomarker showed significantly better sensitivity in tracking progression of cognitive impairment than the ADAS-Cog in simulated trials and a real world problem. The biomarker also improved the selection of MCI patients (78.8±4.9% specificity at 80% sensitivity) that will evolve to Alzheimer's disease for clinical trials. Conclusion: The proposed biomarker provides a boost to the efficacy of clinical trials focused in the mild cognitive impairment (MCI) stage by significantly improving the sensitivity to detect treatment effects and improving the selection of MCI patients that will evolve to Alzheimer’s disease.
