Facebook users in Indonesia dominated by adolescents in the age range 12 - 15 years. The usage of Facebook has negative effects, such as loneliness and cognitive distortion. The study aims to determine the relationship between loneliness and cognitive distortions in early adolescence Facebook users. Using revision of UCLA Loneliness Scale (ULS) – 8 (Hays & DiMatteo, 1987) and Briere’s (2000) Cognitive Distortion Scale (CDS), data was collected from 146 early adolescents, female and male, who studied at schools in East Jakarta, South Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Depok. Based on results of data analysis using Spearman Rank correlation. A significant positive correlation was obtained between loneliness and cognitive distortion on early adolescence Facebook users (r= .271, p< .005). It was supported by a significant positive correlation between dimension of cognitive distortion (self criticism, self blame, helplessness, hopelessness, and preoccupation with danger) and loneliness with correlation rate .234 – .308.

Disasters like flood can result in creating phobia, depression, anxiety etc. in victims, the psychological distress may also affect their optimism, stress tolerance, resilience etc. and thereby their overall psychological wellbeing. Optimism enables an individual to set goals, make commitments, tolerate with adversity and pain and recover from trauma and stress (Schneider &Leitenberg, 1989).Stress tolerance refers to a person's ability to withstand stress without becoming seriously impaired (Carson, Butcher &Mineka, 1996). Objectives of the study: to find out whether there is any difference among flood victims on the basis of age on optimism and stress tolerance, whether there is any gender difference on optimism and stress tolerance among three groups (primary, secondary and both) of flood victims, whether there is any difference between the three groups of victims on optimism and stress tolerance, and also to explore the relationship between optimism and stress tolerance among flood victims. Method: (a).participants- the study was conducted on 115 flood victims, from Ernakulam district in Kerala; in the age range 18-50 years. (b).materials-Life Orientation Test – Revised (Scheier&Carver ,1994), Stress Tolerance Scale (Reshmy&Sanandaraj,1999). Results and conclusion: the results reveal that there is any difference among flood victims on the basis of age on optimism, gender difference among primary victims on optimism among primary victims who engaged in volunteering and/recue activities on stress tolerance and a significant positive correlation between optimism and stress tolerance among flood victims. It is implied that inculcating optimistic view at home and at school, providing optimism based training sessions at school from very early years of age can result in generations that will be able to tolerate stressful events in life, whether it is personal issues, manmade or natural disasters.

Objective To replicate and to extend a previous study examining the conversational skills of children with cleft lip and palate. Participants Thirty-four children (33 to 44 months) participated: 17 children with cleft lip and palate and 17 noncleft children. Methods The children were observed during an interaction with caregivers in their homes. Samples of caregiver-child interactions were coded as assertive or responsive, for type of conversational act, and for discourse level categories. Profiles of conversational activity were determined for each child based on the coding. Correlations were performed to examine the relationship between assertiveness and speech variables (articulation and resonance) for the children with cleft lip and palate. Results Group comparisons revealed that the children with cleft lip and palate produced fewer assertive utterances, were less likely to respond adequately to comments by caregivers, and produced more topic maintaining and fewer topic extending utterances than did their noncleft peers during conversational interactions. Examination of individual child data indicated that 35% of the children with cleft lip and palate exhibited conversational profiles characterized by either low assertiveness or low responsiveness. Finally, a significant positive correlation was noted between conversational assertiveness and speech production skills. Conclusion These findings suggested that the children with cleft lip and palate were less conversationally assertive than their noncleft peers. Further, there appeared to be a relationship between speech production skills and conversational skills, suggesting that poor speech may be impacting language performance for these children.

Self-efficacy, which is defined as peoples judgment on their ability to carry out tasks and exercise control over events, is believed to be determinant in the success of learning and career aspiration. The study was conducted to measure students self-efficacy in making English business communication, their career aspiration, and the relationship between them. Sixty one students served as the respondents for the study. Data were collected by using Likert-typed questionnaires after students attended an ESP designed to improve their English business communication skills. It found that students had high self-efficacy in making English business communication and high career aspiration. Between these variables lies a significant positive correlation in moderate level (0.611).

Objective: To investigate the relationship between established acute inflammatory markers in COVID-19 patients with Mean platelet volume (MPV) and Platelet large cell ratio (P-LCR). Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective longitudinal study conducted at Fauji Foundation Hospital, Rawalpindi from 10th June to 10th August 2020. Biochemical parameters i.e. CRP, serum ferritin, LDH, and pro-BNP as well as hematological parameters (MPV and P-LCR) were noted once every week during admission of all the COVID-19 positive patients.Data were analyzed using IBM-SPSS version 23. Repeated measure ANOVA using a generalized linear model was done to check the trend of values during the duration of their stay. Pearson Correlation analysis and regression models were estimated to check the relationship of MPV and P-LCR with C- reactive protein, serum Ferritin, LDH, and pro-BNP. P-values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: The mean age of the studied group was 55.47 (SD=±15.0) years with the female to male ratio being 2:1. Mean platelet volume showed a statistically significant positive correlation with the established set of inflammatory markers other than pro-BNP with a p-value of less than 0.05.P-LCR however showed a positive correlation with CRP (p-value of less than 0.05) only with no significant correlation with other biochemical markers. Conclusion: MPV is reported on routine complete blood count report (CBC). It is readily available at even the most under-resourced health centers; therefore reporting the platelet indices does not require extra testing, sampling, or reagent cost. A statistically significant positive correlation amongst the established acute inflammatory markers and relatively understudied platelet indices (MPV) in COVID-19 provides a cost-effective, readily available, and time-efficient tool for marking disease progression.

Statistical investigation showed that correlation existed between the incidence of grass tetany and the mean 24-hr, temperature, particulary in spring and autumn. There was also a significant positive correlation between the K/(Ca and Mg) ratio in the grass and the incidence of tetany. During the spring and autumn, when the average temperatures were below 14 degrees C., an increase in K uptake by the herbage being grazed was associated with a rise in temperature, and was followed, after a 5-day time-lag, by an increase in the number of cases of tetany, if the critical value of K/(Ca + Mg) (2.2) was exceeded. A fall in temperature was followed by a fall in the ratio value and in tetany incidence. High summer temperatures were associated with a lower value for the ratio and only a few cases of tetany occurred. The results favour the theory that the relationship between temperature and the incidence of tetany is correlated with the cationic composition of the herbage grazed. This paper uses the 9741 internationally-operated Chinese companies and their matched companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen A-shares as a sample to empirically examine the relationship between financial environment, distance and international operation. First of all, the study found that there is a significant positive correlation between the financial environment and the international operation of the company. In other words, the better the financial environment in which the company is located, the more likely it is that the company will conduct international operations. Second, there is also a significant positive correlation between distances and international operations, which means that the closer the geographical location of the registered place of a company and the central city of the province, the more likely it is that the enterprises within the jurisdiction are operating internationally. Furthermore, the urban distance can produce a ‘regulatory effect’ between the financial environment and the international operation of the enterprise. That is the positive correlation between the financial environment and the international operation of the enterprise depends on the ‘city distance’. Considering the influence of ‘city distance’, the positive impact of the financial environment on international operations is even more pronounced.

Individual designers demonstrate different styles of ideation in conceptual design. These styles have been quantified and described primarily through protocol, think-aloud studies that examine a designer’s thought sequence during ideation. In this paper, we examine ideation style with an outcome-based approach, examining style on a continuum of rate of variety, or solution space exploration rate. We investigate the relationship between this exploration rate and creativity factors of quality and novelty using a quantitative study of problem-solving skills. We found a significant positive correlation between broad-search style and novelty and a significant positive correlation between detail-search style and quality of ideas. These correlations are in agreement with protocol studies found in literature. We also identified quantity of ideas as a possible confounding factor and discuss potential improvements to these types of studies.

\
The study aimed to identify the nature of the relationship between dialogue culture of college of education students at Najran University and their psychological compatibility. In addition, it aimed to define the impact of age variable on this culture. It also tried to explore the possibility of predicting the level of these students’ psychological compatibility by variables of dialogue culture. The study instruments involved a scale for measuring university students’ dialogue culture prepared by the researchers in addition to a test for psychological compatibility prepared by Shoqir (2003). The sample consisted of all students enrolled in “Learning Disabilities” course in the second semester of the academic year 2014/2015. Findings showed a significant positive correlation (α=0.01) between students’ dialogue culture and all dimensions of their psychological compatibility. There were differences between 19-year old students group and 22-year old students group in favor of the latest due to cognitive, affectional and behavioral levels of dialogue culture. Findings also indicated that the three dimensions of dialogue culture (cognitive, affectional and behavioral) could predict the psychological compatibility levels of students of “Learning Disabilities” course at the college of education.
