Skin disease is a disease related to the environment and human behavior. The incidence of skin diseases has increased because the cause of the disease is alive and breeding in landfills and poor waste collection. This is based on the environment of scavenger workers who have materials that can cause various kinds of skin disorders. Based on the results of preliminary surveys that have been carried out, the number of scavengers in the final disposal site of Kelurahan Falls is 75 people with different age characteristics, different levels of education and length of work. The problem at TPA Falls is work behavior on waste pickers. From observations from the field observations found that the scavenger working conditions in the garbage dump in the Kelurahan Falls generally suffer from skin disorders due to personal hygiene (skin, foot, nail and hand hygiene) which are not given enough attention and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is incorrect and incomplete. The purpose of this study was to determine knowledge, attitudes, actions to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and habits of personal hygiene, length of work, as well as the distance of the house from the landfill with complaints of skin disorders in the garbage scavengers in the TPA Kelurahan Falls. The research method is cross sectional which was analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The research location was conducted at TPA Kelurahan Terjun, Medan Marelan Subdistrict and was conducted in February and March 2019. 75 respondents were taken using simple random sampling technique. The research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire. During menstruation blood vessels in the uterus are very easily infected because germs easily enter and cause diseases of the reproductive tract. Some of the most common disorders are vaginal discharge and pruritus vulvae (vaginal itching). However, this complaint can be prevented by maintaining the cleanliness of the female organs early on, namely with good menstrual personal hygiene. This study aims to describe the level of personal hygiene knowledge about menstruation. This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach, with a total sample of 90 people taken by total sampling technique. The results showed that the majority of respondents had enough personal hygiene behavior as many as 82 people (91.1%), while good menstrual personal hygiene behavior was 3 people (3.3%), and respondents who had behaviors classified as less than 5 people ( 5.6%). Based on complaints on reproductive organs, respondents who experienced vaginal discharge were 85 people (94.4%) and itching around the genitals was around 83 people (92.2%).

Abstract Background Infection prevention strategies to protect healthcare workers in endoscopy units during the post-peak phase of the COVID-19 pandemic are currently under intense discussion. In this paper, the cost-effectiveness of routine pre-endoscopy testing and high risk personal protective equipment (PPE) is addressed. Method A model based on theoretical assumptions of 10 000 asymptomatic patients presenting to a high volume center was created. Incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) and absolute costs per endoscopy were calculated using a Monte Carlo simulation. Results ICER values for universal testing decreased with increasing prevalence rates. For higher prevalence rates (≥ 1 %), ICER values were lowest for routine pre-endoscopy testing coupled with use of high risk PPE, while cost per endoscopy was lowest for routine use of high risk PPE without universal testing. Conclusion In general, routine pre-endoscopy testing combined with high risk PPE becomes more cost-effective with rising prevalence rates of COVID-19.

Personal Protective equipment is also called PPE. It is commonly worn by health care workers to prevent the transmission of infection. PPE includes helmets or caps, face shields, face masks, goggles, gowns, respirators, shoe covers or boots and gloves. These protective coverings will be effective when it is being used in an appropriate manner. The main objectives of this study were to assess the knowledge and practice on Personal Protective Equipment among student nurses. A Quantitative Research approach along with Descriptive Research design was used. A total of 110 student nurses were selected through Convenient Sampling Technique from DGNM 3rd Year, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing 2nd Year and B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing 4th Year of Rufaida College of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi in the month of July-August 2020. Structured Questionnaire was used via an online platform (Google forms) due to Covid 19 lockdown to assess the knowledge and practice on PPE. Out of 110 samples, 66 (60%) had good knowledge, followed by 44 (40%) having average knowledge and none were having poor knowledge on PPE, whereas 67 (60.9%) had an average practice, followed by 41 (37.3%) having good practice and only 2 (1.8%) had poor practice on PPE. Findings suggest that there is a need for practice-based knowledge assessment in clinical areas and thus improvement in the practice of PPE while working in hospitals.

Objectives: Endoscopy confers high risk for acquiring coronavirus disease 2019. Although guidelines recommend that medical staff use personal protective equipment, no infection control equipment have been established for patients. This study aimed to clarify the usefulness of two face masks we had designed for transnasal and transoral endoscopy. Methods: The efficacy of the masks was evaluated by simulating coughing in a mannequin with fluorescent dyes and mapping the droplet trajectory and number. The number of aerosols generated during endoscopy was clinically evaluated in the endoscopy room. Overall, 4356 screening endoscopies were performed with the patients wearing our masks at Medcity21, a health checkup facility, between June and December 2020; the effects of the masks on the patient’s condition were evaluated retrospectively. An 11-item paper-based survey was performed by the endoscopy staff 6 months after the adoption of the mask-based infection control method. Results: Use of both masks reduced the number of droplets released during the simulation. Clinically, the use of both masks did not affect the patients’ conditions during endoscopy and prevented an increase in the aerosols in the endoscopy room. This mask-based infection control method was favorably received, and all staff indicated that understanding the efficacy of our mask-based infection control reduced their anxiety regarding infection. Until December 2020, none of our staff had contracted SARS-CoV-2. Conclusion: Our mask-based infection control method is easy to adopt, inexpensive, and effective; understanding its effectiveness may help ease the fear of infection among endoscopy staff.

The increasing of growth of any oil palm crop is not accompanied by safe behavior in the use of PPE in oil palm plantations. This is evident from most workers who do not work safely by not using PPE when they accomplished their activities. This study aims to determine of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to workers in oil palm plantations. This is a quantitative research with cross sectional. The study population was all plantation workers totaling 77 workers and the sampling technique using total sampling method from the total total population of 77 workers. The results showed that the behavior of using PPE was in the bad category at 61.0%. Knowledge (p = 0.031), attitude (p = 0.001) and training (0.018) are variables that have a relationship with the use of PPE. Conclusions show that most workers know about the use of PPE but workers do not believe that one way to reduce the risk of workplace accidents is by using personal protective equipment and most of them have said that they have attended training in the use of personal protective equipment.
