This research was conducted to find out the forms of errors made by the 3rd semester 2016 students of Japanese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University in understanding and using the words with the kanji letters found in the Intermediate Kanji Book Vol. 1. The problems discussed in this study, namely 1) what is the fault of students in understanding and using words with starch in the Intermediate Kanji Book Vol. 1; 2) how to overcome errors in understanding and using words with kanji in the Intermediate Kanji Book Vol. 1. The purpose of this study is to find out the forms of errors made by students in understanding and using words with kanji in the Intermediate Kanji Book Vol. And find a way to overcome these errors. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with documentation method and test method which is continued with note taking technique. The documentation method in this study is a collection of questions that have been filled in with answers by informants. While the test method is an instrument of data collection through a series of questions / exercises distributed to students. The population in this study were all students of the 3rd Semester of the 2016 Class of Japanese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences Universitas Udayana. The determination of the population is based on the consideration that the 3rd semester 2016 students have been taught material contained in the Intermediate Kanji Book Vol. 1. Through this research, the forms of student errors mentioned above will be able to be broken down and find solutions to overcome them. And the results of this study can be used as teaching materials for lecturers and study materials for students majoring in Japanese literature.

The purpose of this research is to reveal the form and pattern of lexical shift either lexically or grammatically by (1) to describe the form of grammatical metaphor of academic text, and (2) to describe the pattern of lexical shift in academic texts. The type of this research is qualitative research using Functional Systemic Linguistic approach. The academic texts was analyzed using theory of M.A.K. Halliday. The data in this study are words, phrases, clauses, and sentences in academic texts that undergo lexical and sentence shifts. The data source in this research is thesis of Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program in the year of 2015. Data collection techniques are documentation, reading, and record technique. The results found forms of grammatical metaphor which include (1) nominalization, (2) groups of nouns, and (3) simplex phrases. The lexic shift patterns found in this study include: (1) verbs to nouns, (2) adjectives to nouns, (3) adverbs to nouns, and (4) nouns to nouns.

The research aims to uncover the symbols in the novel The Alchemist and to gain knowledge about the moral teachings in the symbol. This research is descriptive qualitative approach. Data sources in this study are words, phrases or sentences in the novel Alchemist. Data collection method is a literature study method with note taking technique. Data were analyzed using description and content analysis methods. The results showed that the novel The Alchemist contained many symbols. These symbols include: (1) wise parents, who symbolize both negative and positive things. From his appearance, parents can symbolize something bad, but behind his old age he symbolizes a knowledge that is very much and wise; (2) stones that symbolize something hard, not easily broken, and can provide clues to something; and (3) deserts or deserts which can be interpreted as symbols of drought, aridity, unattractiveness, emptiness, despair, determination for ignorance, and also as symbols of devotion.

This article aims to describe: the implementation of the SQ3R model to the ability to examine the characters contained in fiction texts in grade IV students of SDN Ganung Kidul 1 Nganjuk in the 2019/2020 Academic Year. This article is an descriptive qualitative research carried out through five stages, namely: (1) data collection; (2) determination of the sample; (3) recording data; (4) reduction; and (5) drawing conclusions. Data sources in this article are journals and books relating to the learning of the SQ3R model on learning to examine the characters contained in fiction texts. These data provide an overview of the application of the SQ3R model on the ability to examine the characters contained in fictional texts. Furthermore, the object of the research is the learning model SQ3R with a subject of 22 students. The conclusion of the article shows that: this SQ3R model is very good to be applied to the basic competencies of Indonesian language class IV semester II, namely the ability to examine the characters contained in fiction texts.

Abstract The Conception of Community Life in Petatah Petitih Minangkabau with The Indigeneous Approach. This study aims to identify the Minangkabau conceptions values as depicted in the petatah petitih Minang (proverb). This research examines Minang Proverb with the Indigenous Psychology approach. Qualitative research methods, describing, interpreting the concept of values in the Minangkabau community which is illustrated by the Minang proverb. The data collection technique used is desk research and interview. Sources of literature study are from the Minangkabau Adat textbook obtained from the Rumah Gadang Minangkabau pavilion in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Jakarta; the results of previous studies / research, and relevant information from online mass media. Online Interview was conducted with the Chief Advisor of the Bundo Kanduang Council Organization Advisor Solok City, West Sumatra. The results show that there are ten values or Minangkabau life concept which are contained in the Minang proverb which is inherent in the Minang identity, namely; hiduik baraka, baukue jo bajangko; baso basi –malu jo sopan; tenggang raso; loyal; fair; thrifty; watchful; braveness; wise diligent and humble. Key words: Minangkabau conceptions, Minang proverb, Indigenous psychology Abstrak Konsep Pola Hidup Masyarakat dalam Petatah Petitih Minangkabau dengan Pendekatan Indigenius. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi konsepsi nilai-nilai adat yang berkaitan dengan pola hidup masyarakat Minangkabau (Minang) yang tergambar dalam Petatah Petitih (pepatah) Minang. Penelitian ini mengkaji psikologi yang lekat pada budaya adat Minangkabau yang tertuang dalam Pepatah Minang dengan pendekatan Indigenous Psychology (Psikologi Indigenius). Metode penelitian kualitatif, yakni menggambarkan, menafsirkan konsepsi nilai-nilai adat pada masyarakat Minangkabau yang tergambar pepatah Minang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan cara studi kepustakaan (desk research) dan wawancara. Sumber studi kepustakaan adalah dari buku teks Adat Minangkabau yang diperolah dari anjungan Rumah Gadang Minangkabau di Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Jakarta; hasil kajian/penelitian sebelumnya, dan informasi yang relevan dari media massa daring. Wawancara dilakukan kepada Ketua Penasehat Organisasi Bundo Kanduang Kota Solok Sumatera Barat secara daring. Hasil menunjukan terdapat sepuluh nilai atau konsep pola hidup masyarakat Minang yang tertuang dalam pepatah minang yang melekat pada jati diri orang Minang yakni; hiduik baraka, baukue jo bajangko; baso basi-malu jo sopan; tenggang raso; setia; adil; hemat cermat; waspada; berani karena benar; arif bijaksana; rajin dan rendah hati. This research aims to figure out the types of personification used in one of the famous albums namely Michael Jackson's Thriller and Invincible. The sources of data were 19 songs taken from Thriller and Invincible albums by Michael Jackson and the lyrics of the songs. The research design used was descriptive qualitative research with documentation analysis as the technique of data collection. The result showed that there were 65 personification expressions found in the albums. Those 65 personifications were categorized into four types of personification as proposed by Dorst et al. (2011) namely: conventionalized personification (33 expressions), novel personification (20 expressions), default personification (12 expressions), and personification-with-metonymy (0 expressions). The idea of conventionalized personification presents in the lyrics is to dig out the beauty and tranquility of nature to life. It also might address giving an object or animal-human characteristics to create interesting imagery to the ELT Students. Also, these songs are assumed as one of the various English materials in language teaching in the future since it has no sarcasm and motivating contexts throughout the lyrics themselves.

This research is entitled "the implementation of Edmodo media in Arabic language courses at IAI Nazhatut Thullab Sampang. And the purpose of this study is to describe: 1)process of learning Arabic courses with Edmodo media at IAI Nazhatut Thullab Sampang, 2)constraints on applying Edmodo media in learning Arabic courses at IAI Nazhatut Thullab Sampang. In this study, researchers used a qualitative research methodology, while the location of this study was in the campus of IAI Nazhatut Thullab Sampang, in this study the researchers obtained data from the study program, semester 1 students of MPI study program, Arabic language lecturers, and observational data that would be carried out by researchers, as well as the written data that researchers need. Researchers use data collection procedures, data analysis, and checking validity. The results of this study are: 1) Arabic language lecturers submit lecture contracts to be worked on for one semester. Then the Arabic language lecturer explained about Edmodo media to students, the Arabic language instructor told students to create an Edmodo account using a Gmail account. and with the various features in Edmodo Arabic language lecturers can provide exercises such as sending Arabic language videos to improve their specific language and student experience, it makes it easier for students to learn Arabic. 2)in the use of edmodo media when the network is not good because some students in their homes in the countryside, accompanied by students' lack of understanding of the use of edmodo such as functions rather than features contained in edmodo, thus hampering the process of learning Arabic.

Studi ini adalah hasil tracer study pada Program Studi (PS) Teknologi Pangan Universitas Terbuka tahun 2017-2020. Studi ini menggunakan metode kualitatif (qualitative research) melalui survei dan wawancara dengan variabel (1) Keterserapan alumni di dunia kerja; (2) Kontribusi perguruan tinggi terhadap tingkat komptensi yang dikuasai; (3) Penilaian alumni terhadap metode pembelajaran di PS Teknologi Pangan. Hasil tracer study menyatakan bahwa dari segi keterserapan alumni di dunia kerja, alumni PS Teknologi Pangan UT sebanyak 68% sudah bekerja dan sebanyak 70% sudah memperoleh pekerjaan sebelum masuk UT. Bidang pekerjaan alumni paling banyak di bidang swasta di sektor usaha makanan dan minuman. Kontribusi perguruan tinggi terhadap tingkat kompetensi yang dikuasai alumni yaitu lebih dari 50% alumni menyatakan perguruan tinggi berkontribusi sangat tinggi dan tinggi dalam pengetahuan di bidang ilmu teknologi pangan, kemampuan riset dan analisis, komunikasi, ketrampilan digital, manajemen waktu dan kemampuan dalam memegang tanggung jawab, serta soft skill. Penilaian alumni terhadap metode pembelajaran di PS Teknologi Pangan yaitu lebih dari 50% menyatakan sudah sangat baik dan baik dari tutorial online, praktikum, dan bahan ajar cetak. Masukan alumni untuk perbaikan layanan yaitu untuk tutorial online antara lain perlunya peningkatan server, tampilan yang lebih menarik, penambahan video dan studi kasus, serta tutor perlu lebih aktif memberikan umpan balik. Masukan mahasiswa untuk praktikum yaitu perlunya laboratorium sendiri yang dimiliki oleh UT, mata kuliah praktikum perlu diperbanyak, serta  integrasi antara mata kuliah praktikum dengan mata kuliah lainnya. Masukan untuk bahan ajar cetak adalah perlu dilakukan pembaharuan materi yang mengikuti dengan perkembangan teknologi dan ilmu pengetahuan. Tracer study in the Food Technology Study Program of the Open University conducted in 2017-2020. This study uses qualitative methods (qualitative research) through surveys and interviews with variables (1) Absorption of alumni in the world of work; (2) Contribution of higher education to the competency level mastered; (3) Evaluation of alumni of learning methods in the Food Technology Study Program. The results of the tracer study stated that in terms of alumni absorption in the world of work, 68% of UT Food Technology PS alumni were already working and as many as 70% had reached a job before entering UT. Most alumni work in the private sector in the food and beverage business sector. The contribution of higher education to the level of competence controlled by alumni is more than 50% of alumni who state that universities contribute very high and high in knowledge in the field of food technology, research and analysis skills, communication, digital skills, time management and the ability to hold responsibility , also soft skills. The alumni assessment of the learning methods at the Food Technology Study Program, namely more than 50% stated that it was very good and good from online tutorials, practicum, and printed teaching materials. Alumni input for service improvements, namely for online tutorials, including the need for server upgrades, a more attractive display, adding videos and case studies, and tutors need to be more active in providing feedback. Student input for practicum is the need for UT's own laboratory, practicum courses that need to be reproduced, and integration between practicum courses with other courses. The input for printed teaching materials is that it is necessary to update the material that follows the development of technology and science.

This study discusses the imperative speech acts markers and their functions in a drama entitled a’s-Sulthān al-Chāˈir a work by Taufiq Al-Chakim. This study aimed at identifying the imperative speech acts markers and explaining the functions of those imperative speech acts in a’s-Sulthān al-Chāˈir drama. This study is a typical qualitative research. The method of data collection in this study used the attentive observation method followed by the basic tapping and advanced note-taking techniques. The data in this study are clauses or sentences which realize the imperative speech acts. The method applied in analyzing the data is the distributional method which technically followed by the technique of direct elements and the pragmatic equivalent method. Having analyzed 208 data which constitute of 220 sentences, the results are as follow: (1) the imperative speech acts in a’s-Sulthān al-Chāˈir drama a work by Taufiq Al-Chakim were realized in standard and non-standard markers, with more standard markers than non-standard markers. The standard markers were realized by the fi’l al-amr marker as many as 186 words, ism fi’l al-amr as many as 41 words (typical repetition), mashdar which represents fi’l al-amr as many as 25 words, and fi’l al-mudhāri’ which are attached to the particle lām al-amr as many as 16 words. The non-standard markers are realized with declarative sentences or kalām al-khabar as many as 7 sentences and the interrogative sentences or istifhām as many as 4 sentences. (2) the imperative speech acts in a’s-Sulthān al-Chāˈir drama a work by Taufiq Al-Chakim has various functions among others for commanding as many as 100 sentences, inviting or offering were found as many as 60 sentences, requesting as many as 34 sentences, advising as many as 14 sentences, threatening of 7 sentences, weakening as many as 2 sentences, allowing as many as 2 sentences, and giving a choice was found 1 sentence.

An illocutionary act is a speech act that is usually identified by explicit performative sentences. The research on illocutionary acts in vlogs is an action that shows the meaning of speech during communication. This study aims to describe illocutionary acts on Fiersa Besari's vlog YouTube channel Jangan Lupa Senyum Part 1 along with its speech function. The method used in this research is the descriptive method. The form of research used here is qualitative research. The data source in this study is the vlog Jangan Lupa Senyum Part 1 on the Fiersa Besari YouTube channel. The data in this study are transcripts of conversations between characters in vlogs. Data collection techniques in research using the observation method and note-taking techniques. The findings in the research in this vlog were only 15 utterances of illocutionary speech acts. From the 15 utterances, 7 data on assertive illocutionary acts, 2 directive illocutionary acts, and 7 expressive illocutionary acts. From this research, it is expected that we can understand the function of illocutionary acts that are relevant to everyday life

The purpose of this study was to determine the management of the “Sampat Sehe Kedas” Waste Bank in Selat Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency. This research uses qualitative research methods. Data collection techniques using interview and documentation methods. The determination of informants was done purposively. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed by producing, presenting, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research on the Management of the Sampat Sehe Kedas Waste Bank in Selat Village show that planning is going well in terms of goal setting, namely wanting to help the community in managing waste by forming an organization, providing a financial budget, fulfilling equipment and equipment, identifying problems, and developing plans by deliberation. Organizing goes well in terms of the formation of the organizational structure. The briefing went well, seen from the coordination between the chairman and officers before carrying out activities and giving each other motivation. Supervision runs well, seen from the standard of implementation, the management and officers have worked according to the agreed day and the waste that customers save is non-organic waste at a price of Rp. 500.00/ kg
