One type of traditional Balinese literary work that is rich in moral teachings, especially related to Tri Parartha is kakawin Aji Palayon. This paper seeks to uncover the teachings of Tri Parartha contained in Aji Palayon's kakawin literary work with a set of semiotic and religious theories supported by content analysis and descriptive analysis methods. The results of the analysis show that Kakawin Aji Palayon is a traditional Balinese literary work in the form of a song that tells about the journey of the atman since leaving the rough body until it reaches shunya laya (a place of eternal peace). On the journey the atman is also filled with the teachings of Tri Parartha, namely asih (compassion), punia (sacrifice / sincere gift), and bhakti (truth devotion) which is dominantly found in chapter 1, 3, and 6. With high wisdom and understand the teachings of Tri Parartha well, then the atman can pass through various kinds of obstacles and temptations, so that finally he reaches shunya laya (place of eternal peace).

Bali is an island that holds a myriad of local wisdom that amazes the world. One of the local wisdoms of Bali is traditional suggestion. Traditional Balinese suggestion is a half-oral folklore in the form of people's trust which is instilled early to the children as a foundation for good behavior in society. This paper seeks to explore traditional Balinese suggestions as the foundation of basic moral and ethical education for basic age children with a set of ethnographic and semiotic theories supported by content analysis and descriptive analysis methods. The results of this analysis show that there are some traditional suggestions that are familiar in Balinese life, namely: "Sing dadi negakin galeng, nyul busul jité" (may not sit on a pillow, then butt boils), "Sing dadi negakin lesung, nyanan jitéamun lesungé gedénné " (may not sit on a place for pounding rice, the buttocks will be as big as a place for pounding rice)," Sing dadi ngutang nasi, nyanan mati siap selemé" (may not waste rice, the black chicken will die later), "Sing dadi ngetep kuku peteng-peteng, nyanan énggal reramané mati" (may not cut nails at night, his parents may die soon), "Sing dadi negakin talenan, nyanan kebus jité" (may not sit on the cutting board, because it can cause the butt to become hot), "Sing dadi nyampat peteng-peteng, nyanan ada anak nugtug" (may not sweep at night, there will be someone to follow), and "Sing dadi mambuh nuju kajeng kliwon, nyanan kadena bisa ngleak" (may not wash head when Kajeng Kliwon day, later thought to have black magic / magic / can be tricky). This traditional suggestion has an important role as the foundation of ethics and morality education in basic agechildren, such as: forming children into polite personalities, forming attitudes of compassion and social care, fostering an attitude of respecting God's grace in the form of food, and fostering a loving attitude towards oneself and people other.

The modern western perspective initiated by the renaissance and the enlightenment century successfully couped the reality of God. This was carried out by some western intellectuals and thinkers, which ultimately gave obscurity to the human concept. The obscurity of this concept then has implications for the meaning of the progress of human civilization. This further gives serious problems to almost the entire social order. Husain's struggle as the eternal history of humanity interpreted through Hermeneutics Scheleiermacher provides another perspective on human concepts and the progress of civilization. The monotheistic values they contain glance at the sides of spirituality as a measure of the progress of civilization. From it the definition of civilization gained new space and paved the way for human potentials that were inherently the cornerstone of the progress of civilization. This paper tries to uncover the values of Imam Husain's struggle in Karbala which is interpreted through Schleiermacher's psychological and grammatical interpretation and contextualizes it with the concept of Coomaraswamy spiritual civilization, as a foundation for the meaning of civilization using historical and descriptive analysis methods. So that the paradigm of the progress of civilization gets an alternative new perspective, and spirituality can be used as a measure of the progress of civilization.

This study examined novel coronavirus (COVID-19) messages on select Nigeria-based WhatsApp groups. Viewed through the lens of the Rumour Theory, the study applied content analysis and social semiotics (multimodal discourse analysis) methods. Data were elicited from three purposively selected WhatsApp groups, using the constructed and continuous weeks approach. The sample covered 6 weeks (42 days), spread across March, April, and May 2020. Findings from the content analysis showed that texts, comments, and linked message on COVID-19, had the highest frequency. The frequency of messages peaked in March and steeply tapered downwards in April and May 2020. The multimodal discourse analysis demonstrated a preponderance of messages about vaccines, treatment, prevention, lockdown, and conspiracy theories. A significant number of COVID-19 messages were based on rumours and misinformation from spurious sources, with a few from credible sources. The study recommended that to help flatten the misinformation curve, timely, unambiguous and accurate COVID-19 information should be provided from official sources.

AbstractInter-dynastic marriage today has been commonly held by Hindu community that has a vertically closed social stratification called dynasty. Couples who wants to perform inter-dynastic marriages before 1951 are required to conduct patiwangi ceremony in addition to the discharge penalty into areas outside Bali (Selong). Sanctions of patiwangi ceremony have been removed by some rules, but the community still conducts it. From this background, problems arise as follows: What is the meaning of patiwangi ceremony? Why are people still perform the patiwangi ceremony sanction?. The method used is the type of empirical legal research, using qualitative descriptive analysis. The meaning of patiwangi sanctions is to lower dignity and honor of a caste woman. People still perform the patiwangi because patiwangi is a legal culture that has penetrated into the soul of Hindu community in Bali.
