The effectiveness of education is determined by the level of preparation of an individual to make the productive effects in order to provide personal and social development. In a great scheme of things, each educational system is designed to create the conditions for successful adaptation of an individual to the social and cultural realities of the society of a specific historical context. The worldview basis of the development of education turn out to be convincing, thus, the educational paradigm will acquire the effective characteristics, if it makes allowances for and uses professionally mutually potential action of the shaping factors of the development of education in particular and society in general. Each national educational system has to make allowances for the realistic resource limits of a country. If different conceptual models of education are based on different priorities for functioning and development of education, it proves either one thing or the other: either the lack of knowledge about the specific historical realities and perspectives of its society, or the intentions to make a tool for the satisfaction of other needs of the national education.

This is only the third full-scale biography of Locke to be published in the 300 years since his death in 1704. At least two others, however, are said to be in the works: one by Mark Goldie, the other by John Milton, both eminent Locke scholars. It is true that both of these projects are described on their authors’ web sites as ‘intellectual’ biographies, but the range of writings on Locke that both have already published suggests that their focus will be no more limited than Woolhouse’s is in his ‘Biography’. Woolhouse gives full accounts of Locke’s non-intellectual activities and of the social and historical context within which he worked. But he also pays a lot of attention to his subject’s intellectual development and accomplishment.

Purpose: The article examines metaphor as transferring features of the social world onto the other elements of reality, the 2016 pre-election campaign in particular; the theory of conceptual integration of J. Fauconnier and M. Turner is used to analyzing the metaphor. Methodology: As a material of the research, there were examined transcripts of the 2016 pre-election campaign debates for the presidential position of Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. Result: The analysis reveals convergent and divergent features of metaphor in the pre-election campaign of Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. Metaphor in D. Trump’s texts tends to focus on conceptual models ‘we’ and ‘they’ which is deduced with the help of quantitative analysis whereas in H. Clinton’s texts ‘divided nation’ model is mostly described through metaphor. Applications: This research can be used for universities, teachers, and students. Novelty/Originality: In this research, the model of Conceptual Blending in Metaphors in the 2016 Pre-Election Campaign is presented in a comprehensive and complete manner.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to present a specific literary evolution in the context of catastrophes brought by war, revolutions, pandemics, and natural disaster. Discussing works by Daniel Defoe and the Byron–Shelley circle, we will observe how traumatic events influenced literary and artistic expression, reflecting the social, political, and historical context of the authors’ lives. People tend to relate to heroes and myths more easily in times of crisis, hoping to find force and motivation in their fight for survival and improvement. The myth of Prometheus as a benefactor of mankind was one of the most influential for romantics, with Byron and Shelley casting him as a revolutionary hero that helps man combat the tyranny of his oppressors. Mythopoeic romantic poets such as Blake, Byron, and Shelley hoped to animate their fellows with their revolutionary creation into fighting against autocracy and for their liberties. Mary Shelley, on the other hand, turned Prometheus from the mythical ancient hero of humanity into the modern romantic anti-hero, creating in the process the first modern work of science-fiction.

AbstractThough it is controversial, implementing UN as a graduation standard for any students has continued so far. Juridical bases are UU No. 20/2003 regarding National Educational System and Government Regulation (PP) No. 19/2005 regarding National Education Standard. The fact is that UN encourages students to leaarn more actively, teachers to teach better, principals to improve school quality, and parents to focus more on making their children study more enthusiastically. However, still there are parties nit agreeing with the government act. The rejection of UN is based on different interpretations on the existence of Law No. 19/2005, educational decentralization principle, different paradigm in understanding of national education objective, social reality in community, and the educational function. On the other hand, the government should fulfill minimal service standard before they implement educational nationalization.

Both of these books seek to explain the failure or shortcom- ings of Russia's postcommunist democratic experiment. Both are critical of much of the transition literature within political science, and both identify certain features that make the prescriptions of that literature problematic within the Rus- sian and Soviet contexts. But they anchor their criticisms in contrasting explanations of the current travails. One is rooted in the importation of inappropriate models of economic and social development under Western prodding; the other points to the weakness of Russia's nascent civil society and the opportunities lost by political leaders to strengthen it. They provide opposing views not only of the causal processes underlying failed or incomplete democratization within Rus- sia but also to some extent of the purposes of the social scientific enterprise itself.

The concept of the cyclical nature of social history is substantiated in relation to the genesis of state and law in general and in relation to the concept of educational law, in particular. The conceptual difference between the educational systems of Russia and the West is shown in terms of the mechanism of their formation and goals of functioning. The intra-systemic collision of the system of modern Russian education is proved, which combines the Soviet (specialty, postgraduate studies) and Bologna (bachelor’s, master’s) components. The prospects for the development of the Russian educational system are determined, «educational risks» are highlighted in the context of globalization processes, on the one hand, and the growing trend of state isolation of Russia, on the other.

The purpose of this study is to examine the viewpoints of parents on their 4-5-year-old children who were playing active games. The parents had expressed that active games have positive influences on the cognitive development of children. Also, it has a significant influence on the decisionmaking process and focusing in general. Majority of the parents stated that active games have positive influences on the emotional development of their children in general terms. They expressed this with the term “being happy” and “being able to express oneself”. The parents, who thought that active games have negative influences on the emotional development of their children, expressed this as “being angry”. On the other hand, the parents also thought that active games contribute greatly to the psychomotor development of their children. Thus, they expressed this as “positive influences on physical development of their children”. As the last item, the parents considered active games to have positive contributions to the social development of their children. They, however, expressed this thought with expressions like “being social, establishing communications, learning sharing, etc.”. In conclusion, it has been observed that the viewpoints of the parents on active games were generally positive in terms of cognitive, emotional, and social and psychomotor development areas.

The aim of the work is to compare the level of progress of social development in voivodeships during the period 2010–2019 with the application of a dynamic synthetic measure. The work is based on data published by the Central Statistical Office characterizing the social situation in individual voivodeships for 2010 and 2019. The linear ordering of multi-feature objects method was used, where the normalization of the variables was carried out using the zero unitarization method. The analysis was carried out in static and dynamic terms. In addition to the indicative values, which included 11 features describing the demographic situation, labor market, education and living conditions, the rankings of voivodeships were prepared in terms of the level of social development in the analyzed years using a static and a dynamic approach. Based on the dynamic synthetic measure, the direction and size of changes that took place in individual voivodeships in the period 2010–2019 were ranked. Research shows that only in 7 voivodeships (Mazowieckie, Małopolskie, Pomorskie Dolnośląskie, Podkarpackie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Podlaskie) did the situation improve in terms of the adopted set of diagnostic features, while in the other cases it worsened. In 2019, the best situation occurred in the following voivodeships: Mazowieckie, Małopolskie, Pomorskie and Wielkopolskie, and the lowest indexes were recorded in the following voivodeships: Świętokrzyskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Opolskie and Zachodniopomorskie. In the examined period, the disproportions between voivodeships increased in terms of the studied phenomenon. The application of a dynamic index of development growth allowed not only linear ordering of objects, but also evaluation of the direction and magnitude of the changes in individual objects in the analyzed period.

This article provides the rationale for doing research on childlessness and parenthood in late life. Childless older adults have been rendered invisible in the social scientific literature. A central goal of this issue is to make them visible and to expose unstated assumptions about normal adult life. Parenthood emerges as a key organizer of the life course and a major factor in social integration. Because the childless tend to be conceptualized as “the other,” focusing on them teaches lessons about the dangers of dichotomous thinking, that is, overlooking diversity and assuming deficiency. Studying older adults without children reveals the necessity of considering life pathways over time and of putting lives in a historical context.

This chapter explores the impact of the Social Web in enabling human-to-human communication during the production and management of patterns. To do that, two conceptual models, one aimed towards understanding the stakeholders of patterns, and the other for a pattern production process are proposed. The role of the stakeholders in carrying out the different workflows of a pattern production process is elaborated. In doing so, the prospects and concerns presented by the technologies/applications underlying the Social Web are highlighted.
