In the last decade, a number of studies have questioned the practice of caesarean section birth in obstetrical practices in Africa. Medical sociologists and anthropologists have considered caesarean section as a medicalization of social events. We are not assuming that it is true of false. The transformation of social events into medical indications rises ethical issues in the provision of healthcare in Africa.  In this paper, we especially used the case of caesarean section birth to explore the transformation of social events into medical indications in Africa. Caesarean sections by choice interrogates the obstetrical practices. This paper examines the socio-ethical issues in caesarean section in Africa. We considered some underlying factors: medicalization of the society, informed consent, biotechnology, demand inducement, consumer-inducement demand and the health market-driven economy. This was desk-based study. A review of secondary data and literatures relative to caesarean section births in Africa were used for discussion. Findings from literatures revealed that a number of considerations have to be taken such as: demand inducement and information asymmetry, defensive and corporate medicine, medical power, consumer induced demand and health market driven economy. The findings informed health regulators on demand and supply sides of caesarean sections.

Objectives: To evaluate the knowledge and attitude of Nepalese women towards mode of delivery and caesarean on demand. Study design: Hospital based cross sectional descriptive study where 200 pregnant women after 37 completed weeks of gestation were recruited randomly and interviewed, and their answers were analyzed. Results: Of the 200 interviewed pregnant women, all of them knew about normal vaginal delivery and caesarean delivery, but only 30% knew about instrumentally assisted delivery and 9% had heard about painless labour. Vaginal delivery was the preferred mode in 93% and 7% preferred caesarean delivery. Only 35% of the interviewed women believed that women should have the right to demand a caesarean section Conclusion: Knowledge assessment of two hundred women regarding the mode of delivery clearly indicates the need for strengthening counseling aspect of antenatal care and awareness program regarding mode of delivery. In Nepal on demand caesarean section is not provided in the University Teaching Hospital. However one third of women still felt that women should have the right to choose caesarean section on demand. Key words: Attitude, mode of delivery, Caesarean on demand. doi:10.3126/njog.v2i2.1448 N. J. Obstet. Gynaecol 2007 Nov-Dec; 2 (2): 12 - 15

Tittle: The Impact of Announcement on The Mis-used of Formalin in Marine and Fisheries SectorResearch on impact of mis-used of formalin in marine and fisheries sector have been done in 2006. The aim of the research was to show the impact of announcement on the mis-used of formalin to producers and consumers. Policy analysis approach was used as the method of study. Primary and secondary data were formulated accordingly to meet the requirement of the policy analysis, that is impact of media release on both side of producers and consumers. Verified data and field survey processed descriptively to build logical interpretation. The locations of study were specified in purpose to represent the center of handling and processing of fisheries product indicated with formalyn abuse. These location were West Java (Karawang), Central Java (Semarang), DKI Jakarta and Bandar Lampung. The results of study showed that the negative impacts of the news on formalin abuse to the producers were decreasing on demand of catch and processed fish products, which in turn reduce the income of the fisherman and fish processors. On the other side, the consumer shift their preference to other products such as tempe, tofu and eggs. The positive impacts to the fisherman and fish processors were the knowledge of the danger of formalin abuse on their products and they avoid to use the chemical. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of prices, consumer tastes, income and location / place to Requests Orchid Plant in the city of Medan, and to know the Demand Elasticity of orchids in the city of Medan. The data collected from the data Primary and Secondary Data. Based on the results of testing statistical analysis obtained by value Multiple R of 86.6%. The value of F table at the level of 0.05 is thus calculated F 2,76 = 18.801> F table = 2.76 at 95% confidence level. Furthermore, in testing T test, to see the effect of demand factors partially on the request of orchids, the value of the T-table 2.045 with a confidence level of 86.6%. X2, X3 and X4 real impact While real variables X1 No Effect on Demand (Y). Analysing the value of Elasticity, Elastic Retrieved much as 3.395> 1. Demand level of sensitivity to the independent variable (tastes, income, and location) of 3.395.

Although the level of sophistication in supply chain management has grown at a dramatic rate over the past decade, many firms are still struggling to eliminate functional boundaries. Some companies, however, have begun the process of evolving to a more integrative state – both internally and across their supply chain. Increasing supply chain complexity and the relentless pressure to reduce costs, has made firms realize that attaining the desired level of performance will only be possible through the end-to-end integration of the supply chain. This chapter examines the challenges and opportunities that firms face in trying to achieve this goal. An in-depth review of the literature related to supply chain integration is presented, culminating in a framework that focuses on demand and supply integration. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the desired end state for integration efforts, which is to create an adaptive supply chain that is capable of competing in the environment of “supply chain versus supply chain.”
