The BPS noted that commuters in Jabodetabek had increased by 400 thousand people from 2001 to 2014. The BPS also recorded that around 81,3% of the commuters in Jabodetabek were workers. A growing number of commuter workers in Jabodetabek makes transportation is very important to support the connection of suburban area and workplace in Jakarta. The result showed that 73% of the commuter workers used private transportation, 19% used ground public transportation and the rest of commuter workers used train. This research use Jabodetabek Commuter Survey 2014 as the main source data to shed light on how socioeconomic factors and spatial attributes affect the selection of a primary mode of transportation for commuter workers. Using multilevel multinomial logistic regression, the result confirm that the age, sex, marital status, ownership of vehicle, travel distance and time have a significant effect in explaining train choice. Furthermore, the result also showed that the age, sex, marital status, income, ownership of vehicle, travel distance and cost are found to be significant in explaining ground public transportation choice.

The use of private transportation modes to the Tegal Boto campus, Jember University has increased. The increase in the volume of private vehicles will cause congestion if it is not regulated properly. Therefore, an analysis related to the selection of student transportation modes is needed to determine the tendency of students to choose transportation modes. The results of this study will be used as a first step in the improvement of transportation facilities in the area around the Tegal Boto campus, Universitas Jember. Analysis of the factors that influence students in choosing the mode of transportation will be carried out in this study. In addition, the priority of choosing the mode of transportation used by students to the Tegal Boto campus, Jember University will also be known. Research data will be obtained from questionnaires and documents from the University of Jember. The data will be analyzed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results of the AHP analysis show that the factors that dominate the choice of student transportation modes to the Tegal Boto campus, Jember University are the time factor (33%). Meanwhile, the student's priority modes of transportation are motorbikes (32.7%). The choice of motorcycle mode has the largest percentage due to it is based on consideration of the time factor. Students need transportation modes that have high flexibility such as motorbikes so that the time needed to reach campus is shorter.

"> Modes of transport workers in the city even become part of the traffic’s problems that have persisted.This is related to the conditions of workers in the city and availability of public transportation relatedto the place where they are live. Many studies in Indonesia about factors of the mode of transportworkers has been done by Lestari (2009), Ludfi Djakfar et all (2010), Widiarta (2010), Sijabar &Ratnasari (2013), Rahmawati (2014), Oktavia and Pandia (2013). Their studies conducting usingbinary logistic regression, but in this study, we try to use multinomial logistic regression. The motivesare expanding the scope of research, and also to capture the actual condition for labor in the city.This study conducted in West Jakarta district, as a growing city and become a second CBD in DKI.The aim of this study to show the factors which affect the urban worker who lives in West Jakartachooses their mode of transportation. This research found several factors like gender, married status,age, car ownership and motorcycle ownership affect labor to choose their mode of transportation.The policy implication regarding the result is how to improve the quality and quantity of publictransportations.Keywords: urban worker, mode of transportation, multinomial logistic regression

Compared to the attention that children's literature scholars have paid to the construction of childhood in children's literature and the role of adults as authors, mediators and readers of children's books, few researchers have made a systematic study of adults as characters in children's books. This article analyses the construction of adulthood in a selection of texts by the Dutch author and Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award winner Guus Kuijer and connects them with Elisabeth Young-Bruehl's recent concept of ‘childism’ – a form of prejudice targeted against children. Whereas Kuijer published a severe critique of adulthood in Het geminachte kind [The despised child] (1980), in his literary works he explores a variety of positions that adults can take towards children, with varying degrees of childist features. Such a systematic and comparative analysis of the way grown-ups are characterised in children's texts helps to shed light on a didactic potential that materialises in different adult subject positions. After all, not only literary and artistic aspects of children's literature may be aimed at the adult reader (as well as the child), but also the didactic aspect of children's books can cross over between different age groups.

This book examines the ways in which the biblical book of Esther was read, understood, and used in Muslim lands, from ancient to modern times. It zeroes-in on a selection of case studies, covering works from various periods and regions of the Muslim world, including the Qur’an, premodern historical chronicles and literary works, the writings of a nineteenth-century Shia feminist, a twentieth-century Iranian dictionary, and others. These case studies demonstrate that Muslim sources contain valuable materials on Esther, which shed light both on the Esther story itself and on the Muslim peoples and cultures that received it. The book argues that Muslim sources preserve important, pre-Islamic materials on Esther that have not survived elsewhere, some of which offer answers to ancient questions about Esther, such as the meaning of Haman’s epithet in the Greek versions of the story, the reason why Mordecai refused to prostrate himself before Haman, and the literary context of the “plot of the eunuchs” to kill the Persian king. Furthermore, throughout the book we will see how each author’s cultural and religious background influenced his or her understanding and retelling of the Esther story: In particular, it will be shown that Persian Muslims (and Jews) were often forced to reconcile or choose between the conflicting historical narratives provided by their religious and cultural heritages respectively.

The age of information (AoI) has been widely used to quantify the information freshness in real-time status update systems. As the AoI is independent of the inherent property of the source data and the context, we introduce a mutual information-based value of information (VoI) framework for hidden Markov models. In this paper, we investigate the VoI and its relationship to the AoI for a noisy Ornstein–Uhlenbeck (OU) process. We explore the effects of correlation and noise on their relationship, and find logarithmic, exponential and linear dependencies between the two in three different regimes. This gives the formal justification for the selection of non-linear AoI functions previously reported in other works. Moreover, we study the statistical properties of the VoI in the example of a queue model, deriving its distribution functions and moments. The lower and upper bounds of the average VoI are also analysed, which can be used for the design and optimisation of freshness-aware networks. Numerical results are presented and further show that, compared with the traditional linear age and some basic non-linear age functions, the proposed VoI framework is more general and suitable for various contexts.

The selection of twin variants has a great influence on deformation texture and mechanical property in hcp metals where slip systems are limited and twinning types are abundant during deformation. Local strain accommodations among twin variants are considered to shed light on variant selection rules in Ti and Mg alloys. Five kinds of strain accommodations are discussed in terms of different regions that are affected by the twinning shear of primary twin. These regions contain (I) the whole sample, (II) neighboring grain, (III) adjacent primary twin in neighboring grain, (IV) adjoining primary twin within the same parent grain, and (V) multi-generation of twinning inside the primary twin. For a potentially active variant, its operation needs not only relatively higher resolved shear stress but also easily accommodated strain by immediate vicinity. Many of the non-Schmid behaviors could be elucidated by local strain accommodations that variants with relatively higher SFs hard to be accommodated are absent, while those with relatively lower SFs but could be easily accommodated are present.

AbstractCockroaches, like most social arthropods, are led to choose collectively among different alternative resting places. These decisions are modulated by different factors, such as environmental conditions (temperature, relative humidity) and sociality (groups size, nature of communications). The aim of this study is to establish the interplay between environmental conditions and the modulation of the interactions between individuals within a group leading to an inversion of preferences. We show that the preferences of isolated cockroaches and groups of 16 individuals, on the selection of the relative humidity of a shelter are inversed and shed light on the mechanisms involved. We suggest that the relative humidity has a multi-level influence on cockroaches, manifested as an attractant effect at the individual level and as a negative effect at the group level, modulating the interactions.

Peripheral T cells capable of discriminating between self and non-self antigens are major components of a robust adaptive immune system. The development of self-tolerant T cells is orchestrated by thymic epithelial cells (TECs), which are localized in the thymic cortex (cortical TECs, cTECs) and medulla (medullary TECs, mTECs). cTECs and mTECs are essential for differentiation, proliferation, and positive and negative selection of thymocytes. Recent advances in single-cell RNA-sequencing technology have revealed a previously unknown degree of TEC heterogeneity, but we still lack a clear picture of the identity of TEC progenitors in the adult thymus. In this review, we describe both earlier and recent findings that shed light on features of these elusive adult progenitors in the context of tissue homeostasis, as well as recovery from stress-induced thymic atrophy.

Bentor is a modification between a rickshaw and a motorcycle which has become a characteristic of public transportation vehicles or modes of transportation for the people of Gorontalo. Bentor can operate from one place to another, it can even take passengers to household stairs, this cannot be done by other public transportation. This advantage makes most Gorontalo people choose it as the main transportation because it operates 24 hours. The purpose of this study is to conduct an analysis of the implementation of policies on the operation of bentor vehicles as a mode of transportation based on Gorontalo Provincial Regulation No. 6 of 2006. The research method used in this research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that (1) Compliance of Bentor riders with traffic regulations is still low, so it is necessary to take action by the relevant authorities; (2) Coordination between officers of the Transportation Service and the Police in carrying out their duties has not been well established, so that violations continue to occur; (3) The supervision of related offices of apparatus in the field in implementing regional regulations is still low, due to the lack of officers who will be assigned as field supervisors.Bentor merupakan modifikasi antara becak dan sepeda motor yang telah menjadi ciri khas kendaraan angkutan umum atau moda transportasi masyarakat Gorontalo. Bentor dapat beroperasi dari suatu tempat ke tempat lain, bahkan dapat mengantar penumpangnya hingga ke tangga rumah, hal ini tidak dapat dilakukan oleh kendaraan umum lainnya. Kelebihan ini yang membuat sebagian besar masyarakat Gorontalo memilihnya menjadi transportasi utama karena beroperasi selama 24 jam. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan analisis mengenai Implementasi Kebijakan Pengaturan Pengoperasian Kendaraan Bentor Sebagai Moda Transportasi Berdasarkan Peraturan Daerah Provinsi Gorontalo Nomor 6 Tahun 2006. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Kepatuhan pengendara Bentor terhadap peraturan berlalu lintas masih rendah sehingga perlu dilakukan penindakan oleh aparat terkait; (2) Koordinasi antara petugas Dinas Perhubungan dengan Kepolisian dalam melaksakan tugas belum terjalin dengan baik, sehingga pelanggaran pun terus terjadi; (3) Pengawasan dinas terkait terhadap aparat di lapangan dalam menjalankan peraturan daerah masih rendah, karena minimnya petugas yang akan ditugaskan sebagai pengawas lapangan.

Identifying sociodemographic populations with a major depressive episode (MDE) who are at increased risk for binge alcohol use (BAU) is critical for developing focused prevention programs to meet the particular needs of each population. Thus, the goal of the current exploratory retrospective study is to examine sex, race, age, education, marital status, and income as risk predictors for BAU among adults with MDE; and if the risk for BAU changes after adjusting for demographic confounders. To achieve the study goal, data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s 2018 National Survey for Drug Use and Health were extracted and analyzed. The unweighted sample included 6,999 adults representing a weighted population size of 33,900,452.122 in the US. Results revealed that age and marital status significantly predicted BAU in the past month among adults with MDE. Adults under the age of 50, with a college degree, never married, divorced/separated, and with a high-middle income level or higher were at higher risk for BAU. The study's clinical implications are that understanding demographics of individuals with MDE at increased risk for BAU can inform improved tailored assessment and treatment of alcohol abuse and MDE among at-risk populations. Future research should consider examining additional potential risk factors for BAU among adults with MDE.
