Environmental education is very important issue. It is duty of teacher to inculcate environmental awareness among students. Students in Indian school come from diverse background .Some may not have easy access to technology. As 21st century educators it is our duty to find strategies that level the educational playing field for all learners. Teachers can foster the student engagement in activities that support appreciation of the environment and natural resources in understanding the environmental issues. Across the nation ,schools are increasing access to technologies in the classroom. Therefore, providing education with appropriate resources and strategies supports environmental literacy should be essential component of all technology plans.

China, one of the most polluting countries in the world, is facing tremendous challenges in dealing with environmental problems. Although the government has implemented various regulations and introduced strong enforcement to reduce toxic emissions and encourage recycling, little is known about how parents in China socialise their children into environmentally responsible individuals. This article reports on what 267 Chinese parents do, as agents of environmental protection, to raise their children’s awareness of environmental issues, and how their environmental literacy affects these children’s attitudes and behaviours. A survey was developed to measure how parents engage their children in environmental literacy, how confident parents feel in their own environmental awareness, and whether this has an effect on their engagement with children. The participants were found to play an agentive socialisation role in their engagement with children on pro-environmentalism in terms of shaping their behaviours and attitudes and developing their knowledge and skills. Furthermore, the correlational analysis results reveal that engagement in some aspects of environmental literacy is related to parents’ socio-economic status (SES) and their age; namely, the lower the SES or age, the higher the engagement. The study serves as a baseline for parents’ engagement with environmental literacy in China and has important implications for a concerted action by schools, the government, and environmental organisations to empower parents to be true agents of environmental literacy.

Environmental organisations have often adapted quickly to the workings of existing media institutions. Prominent organisations like Greenpeace feature regularly in mainstream news, demonstrating their deep understanding of mainstream media processes. Now the emerging sphere of the new media has opened up further space for environmental organisations to utilise. The Web promises new and more effective ways of communicating with Australians interested in, and concerned with, ‘the environment’. This paper explores the emerging sphere of communication via textual analysis of a number of Websites that contribute significantly to the environmental debate. Here we find a playing field which is only just beginning to take shape, where audiences are only just beginning to understand the game, and although many of the players are familiar, when this combines with complex environmental issues, we find a playing field characterised by heterogeneity and diversity. What follows is a survey of this entangled technocultural phenomenon.

Commodity future prices are explained either by price expectations and a risk premium in the theory of normal backwardation or with the theory of storage in a cost of carry valuation. Both approaches are compared in separate equations with Johansen cointegration tests. The data sample contains five LME metals with maturities of 3–27 months and real inventory data. It is found that expected spot prices explain only short maturity future prices. But the cost of carry approach, with the inventory level-dependent convenience yield, explains prices for all maturities.

Thank you. It's wonderful to be here. I'd like to start with a few general observations. First, it appears that the Trump administration might be responsive to some of the business cases for staying engaged on international environmental issues. The administration includes many leaders from industry. This is the culture that they come from, including the new Secretary of State. Many of the global companies that are based in the United States, or have substantial actions in the United States, don't want to lose U.S. leadership or engagement, and even institutions that are not known as environmental champions have talked about keeping a seat at the table, to make sure that their interests are represented. Part of this is a desire for a level playing field. Part of it is just business opportunities. We've seen, in the past that when the U.S. government has been particularly unpopular, businesses can have trouble competing in procurement overseas.

The promulgation of the encyclical letter Laudato si’ by Pope Francis in 2015 has been interpreted as the final phase in the integration of sustainability concerns into Catholic Social Teaching. In this recent historical development, academic research has paid particular attention to how different eco-theological traditions, sociocultural developments, and local advocacy practices influenced the Church’s ecological turn. However, the key role played by non-magisterial, intermediate institutions, particularly highly qualified interlocutors such as the Pontifical Academy of Sciences (PAS), has not been studied in depth. This article argues that, over the past 60 years, the PAS has been instrumental in this development: Raising awareness on socio-environmental issues, promoting environmental literacy, fostering ethical reflection, and catalyzing interdisciplinary dialogue in order to orient policy.

Introduction: With regard to the importance of the environment in sustainable development along with environmental literacy among citizens, the present study aimed to assess the levels of environmental literacy (i.e. awareness  , attitudes, and practices) among citizens residing in the city of Yazd, Iran, on the subject of environmental issues and challenges. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive--analytical study, the sample size was determined by 410 individuals as citizens aged over 18 years living in the city of Yazd based on the Cochran formula. The data selection tool was also a researcher-made questionnaire comprised of items on demographic characteristics information as well as levels of awareness, attitudes, and practices concerning the environment such as air pollution, waste management, water resources scarcity, soil pollution, etc. in 2017. Face validity verified by 10 qualified individuals as the faculty members and Reliability was confirmed by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.93. The collected data was analyzed using the   SPSS 22 software through descriptive statistics along with Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Chi-Square test in addition to Spearman’s correlation coefficient (r). In this study, significance level was considered as 0.05. Results: awareness score was statistically significant in terms of age, level of education, and employment status (p-value<0.05). However, attitudes were only in a significant relationship with employment status (p-value=0.004). The relationship between practice score was also statistically significant with regard to age, marital status, and area of residence (p-value<0.05). A significant relationship was further observed between age and level of income and level of awareness, but there was no significant relationship considering attitudes (p-value>0.05). Moreover, a positive correlation was found between awareness, attitude, and practice scores (0.323≥ r ≥0.28, p-value=0.000). Conclusion: Although awareness among Yazd citizens on some environmental issues was at low levels, in general, their awareness specifically regarding health issues stemming from air pollution was proper. In view of the importance of environmental factors, it is necessary to conduct various research studies to identify and control these factors and to carry out further intervention studies to find right and proper solutions before their implementation.

Educating students through a learning process is not only aimed to enable them to obtain knowledge and skill in various things but also, ethical formation is an essential part of the education objective itself. Knowledge, expertise, and ethics can be achieved through problem-based learning with a socio-scientific context integrated with Islamic values. Problem-solving with socio-context issues has strengthened students' engagement in environmental issues, and their involvement is finally able to improve their understanding of environmental problems. Islamic values which integrated with knowledge are believed to influence students' mindset and perception. Ethics and sensitivity to the environment begin with the way they view and act on the environment. An effective environmental educational concept can strengthen environmental literacy and readiness to behave well concerning the environment. Problem-based learning is learning using the problem as a starting point for learning. This learning has directed students to seek and determine relevant sources with knowledge. Therefore, this learning challenges students to build knowledge independently.

Teaching a foreign language requires a holistic approach that involves teaching the instrumental language, its literature and its culture. Besides, it is important to highlight the role of education and values when it comes to teach English as a foreign language. During the second decade of the 21st century many natural disasters have taken place worldwide and teachers should be prepared to deal with them in the English classroom. This preparedness involves scientific knowledge together with linguistic knowledge. This exploratory study has the objective to set a first approach to the preparedness of pre-service teachers to deal with the aforementioned issues through the analysis of the lexical richness of the texts they have written on environmental issues and natural disasters. The limitations of the study are bounded to the low number of samples, but it allows to explore new ways of improving language skills and environment literacy in pre-service teachers which might help to provide future citizens with commitment on environmental issues.

With this research, we aimed to raise elements to enhance the understanding of alcohol consumption among pregnant women in Brazil. Fourteen women identified as alcohol consumers during pregnancy were interviewed. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy seemed to be associated with three groups of interconnected issues: subjective and individual issues (such as expectations, motivations, and women’s difficulty in identifying their own consumption as risky); sociocultural and environmental issues (such as alcohol cultural value, easy access, and influence from relatives, friends, and partners); misinformation, inconsistent opinions publicized through media and lack of technically addressing the subject during prenatal care. Collective and individual health educative actions seem necessary to decrease alcohol consumption among Brazilian women with similar sociocultural characteristics. Media campaigns and explicit information about negative alcohol effects, articulated with individualized actions, such as a systematic approach of this theme during prenatal care, could allow earlier and more appropriate identification and intervention of women at risk.
