A development in the field of improving human health and improving its vitality without the involvement of harmful synthetic and expensive pharmaceuticals is appropriate and promising for todays. The paper proposes a fundamentally new approach to clothing design, which will have a positive impact on the physical and emotional state of man simultaneously with its main functions. Since garments come into contact with the human body 24 hours a day, it is advisable to use clothing with multifunctional aspect: protection from pathogenic microflora of internal and external origin, and to stimulate the vital functions of human organs and systems. Analysis of research in the field of functionalization of medical textiles shows that today different ways of giving antimicrobial properties to textile materials have been developed and successfully used. In the worsening global environmental crisis promising area of antimicrobial properties is the so-called "green technology", which involves the production of new products with minimal environmental damage. The use of herbal preparations in the creation of antibacterial treatments is due to its availability, as well as low toxicity, lack of addiction and negative effects, the possibility of long-term use by adults and children. Given the scientific uncertainty and the emergence of more and more new data on the early signs of harm and the potential adverse health effects that may be associated with antimicrobial treatments, the precautionary approach seems to be most appropriate. There is a need to clarify information on the effect of physically or chemically modified materials on the human body. Previous studies have experimentally confirmed the presence of energy effects of textile materials on the human body. However, determination of the nature of the impact is a complex task, which solution depends on a number of factors, such as the raw material composition, its structure, surface characteristics, etc. Considering these aspects, the purpose of the study was the functionalization of medical textiles by providing them with long-lasting antimicrobial properties based on “green technologies” and the study of their energy-information impact on the human body. The following tasks have been solved in the course of the study. The analysis of modern types and methods of textile modification is carried out; the prospects of use of "green technologies" are shown. Several samples of textile materials with antimicrobial properties, modified by herbal preparations, were obtained. It has been established that the medicinal materials obtained as a result of the modification of the peony solution exert a positive influence on the energy state of the person and activate processes in the body responsible for the immune system. This makes it possible to believe that these materials actively protect the body from exposure to pathogenic microflora. Also, the method of energy information diagnostics determines the resistance to washing achieved by the modification of the antimicrobial effect. After three cycles of washing, citric acid modified with peony solution exerts a more active effect on the organism of the subjects compared to those modified with only peony solution. Therefore, the results obtained in this paper contribute to the spread of the use of “green technologies” for the manufacture of textile materials and clothes with antimicrobial properties.

An important basis for the creation of medical clothing is realization of the influence of various factors that arise in the interaction of elements of the system "man–clothes–production environment". Given the increasing technogenic burden on health of both medical staff and hospital patients, the assessment of the role of medical clothing in forming the energy balance of direct consumers is extremely relevant. Previous studies have experimentally confirmed the presence of energy effects of textile materials on the human body. However, determination of the nature of the impact is a complex task, which solution depends on a number of factors, such as the raw material composition, its structure, surface characteristics, etc. The purpose of our paper is to study the development of textile multifunctional materials for medical purposes and to study their energy-information impact on the human body. The following tasks have been solved in the course of the study. For use in the medical field, several samples of textile materials with antimicrobial properties, modified by herbal preparations, were obtained. Properties of textile materials that determine the possibility of their use in medical practice have been investigated. The influence of the experimental samples on the functional state of the organs and systems of human organs by use of the methods of information-wave therapy is evaluated.

Posture is commonly perceived as the relationship between the segments of the human body upright. Certain parts of the body such as the cephalic extremity, neck, torso, upper and lower limbs are involved in the final posture of the body. Musculoskeletal instabilities and reduced postural control lead to the installation of nonstructural posture deviations in all 3 anatomical planes. When we talk about the sagittal plane, it was concluded that there are 4 main types of posture deviation: hyperlordotic posture, kyphotic posture, rectitude and "sway-back" posture.Pilates method has become in the last decade a much more popular formof exercise used in rehabilitation. The Pilates method is frequently prescribed to people with low back pain due to their orientation on the stabilizing muscles of the pelvis. Pilates exercise is thus theorized to help reactivate the muscles and, by doingso, increases lumbar support, reduces pain, and improves body alignment.

The research would look further at the representation of the human body in both Balinese and Javanese traditional houses and compared the function and meaning of each part. To achieve the research aim, which was to evaluate and compare the representation of the human body in Javanese and Balinese traditional houses, a qualitative method through literature and descriptive analysis study was conducted. A comparative study approach would be used with an in-depth comparative study. It would revealed not only the similarities but also the differences between both subjects. The research shows that both traditional houses represent the human body in their way. From the architectural drawing top to bottom, both houses show the same structure that is identical to the human body; head at the top, followed by the body, and feet at the bottom. However, the comparative study shows that each area represents a different meaning. The circulation of the house is also different, while the Balinese house is started with feet and continued to body and head area. Simultaneously, the Javanese house is started with the head, then continued to body, and feet area.

Background: The use of essential oils is receiving increasing attention worldwide, as these oils are good sources of several bioactive compounds. Nowadays essential oils are preferred over synthetic preservatives thanks to their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Several studies highlight the beneficial effect of essential oils extracted from medicinal plants to cure human diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, or obesity. However, to preserve their bioactivity, the use of appropriate extraction technologies is required. Method: The present review aims to describe the studies published so far on the essential oils focusing on their sources and chemical composition, the technologies used for their recovery and their application as antioxidants in food products. Results: The review has been structured in three parts. In the first part, the main compounds present in essential oils extracted from medicinal plants have been listed and described. In the second part, the most important technologies used for extraction and distillation, have been presented. In detail, conventional methods have been described and compared with innovative and green technologies. Finally, in the last part, the studies related to the application of essential oils as antioxidants in food products have been reviewed and the main findings discussed in detail. Conclusions: In summary, an overview of the aforementioned subjects is presented by discussing the results of the most recent published studies.

In this article, we argue that certain behaviour connected to the attempt to attain contemporary female body ideals in Denmark can be understood as an act of achievement and, thus, as an embodiment of the culture of achievement, as it is characterised in Præstationssamfundet, written by the Danish sociologist Anders Petersen (2016) Hans Reitzels Forlag . Arguing from cultural psychological and sociological standpoints, this article examines how the human body functions as a mediational tool in different ways from which the individual communicates both moral and aesthetic sociocultural ideals and values. Complex processes of embodiment, we argue, can be described with different levels of internalisation, externalisation and materialisation, where the body functions as a central mediator. Analysing the findings from a qualitative experimental study on contemporary body ideals carried out by the Danish psychologists Josefine Dilling and Maja Trillingsgaard, this article seeks to anchor such theoretical claims in central empirical findings. The main conclusions from the study are used to structure the article and build arguments on how expectations and ideals expressed in an achievement society become embodied.

Depositing nanoparticles in textiles have been a promising strategy to achieve multifunctional materials. Particularly, antimicrobial properties are highly valuable due to the emergence of new pathogens and the spread of existing ones. Several methods have been used to functionalize textile materials with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Therefore, this review highlighted the most used methods for AuNPs preparation and the current studies on the topic in order to obtain AuNPs with suitable properties for antimicrobial applications and minimize the environmental concerns in their production. Reporting the detailed information on the functionalization of fabrics, yarns, and fibers with AuNPs by different methods to improve the antimicrobial properties was the central objective. The studies combining AuNPs and textile materials have opened valuable opportunities to develop antimicrobial materials for health and hygiene products, as infection control and barrier material, with improved properties. Future studies are needed to amplify the antimicrobial effect of AuNPs onto textiles and minimize the concerns related to the synthesis.

AbstractRadiative communication using electromagnetic fields is the backbone of today’s wirelessly connected world, which implies that the physical signals are available for malicious interceptors to snoop within a 5–10 m distance, also increasing interference and reducing channel capacity. Recently, Electro-quasistatic Human Body Communication (EQS-HBC) was demonstrated which utilizes the human body’s conductive properties to communicate without radiating the signals outside the body. Previous experiments showed that an attack with an antenna was unsuccessful at a distance more than 1 cm from the body surface and 15 cm from an EQS-HBC device. However, since this is a new communication modality, it calls for an investigation of new attack modalities—that can potentially exploit the physics utilized in EQS-HBC to break the system. In this study, we present a novel attack method for EQS-HBC devices, using the body of the attacker itself as a coupling surface and capacitive inter-body coupling between the user and the attacker. We develop theoretical understanding backed by experimental results for inter-body coupling, as a function of distance between the subjects. We utilize this newly developed understanding to design EQS-HBC transmitters that minimizes the attack distance through inter-body coupling, as well as the interference among multiple EQS-HBC users due to inter-body coupling. This understanding will allow us to develop more secure and robust EQS-HBC based body area networks in the future.

The development of biomedical devices benefits patients by offering real-time healthcare. In particular, pacemakers have gained a great deal of attention because they offer opportunities for monitoring the patient’s vitals and biological statics in real time. One of the important factors in realizing real-time body-centric sensing is to establish a robust wireless communication link among the medical devices. In this paper, radio transmission and the optimal characteristics for impedance matching the medical telemetry of an implant are investigated. For radio transmission, an integral coupling formula based on 3D vector far-field patterns was firstly applied to compute the antenna coupling between two antennas placed inside and outside of the body. The formula provides the capability for computing the antenna coupling in the near-field and far-field region. In order to include the effects of human implantation, the far-field pattern was characterized taking into account a sphere enclosing an antenna made of human tissue. Furthermore, the characteristics of impedance matching inside the human body were studied by means of inherent wave impedances of electrical and magnetic dipoles. Here, we demonstrate that the implantation of a magnetic dipole is advantageous because it provides similar impedance characteristics to those of the human body.

AbstractThe scientific debate which developed during the eighteenth century, proposed and diffused new theories on the generation not only within the scientific community. Microscopic investigation and various experimental campaigns fostered daring models attempting to unveil the natural phenomena from which life originates. Besides the famous scientific and philosophical works that marked the age, in the second part of the century two pamphlets appeared that well represent the importance of the querelle about embryological systems defining the concept of generation as a voyage within the human body. Lucina sine concubitu and Juno abortans, respectively published in England and in Germany between 1750 and 1760, narrate the odd and imaginary adventures of two doctors who are trying to interrupt and modify the embryos' journey towards the body of the mother.
