Kata kunci: lansia; latihan fisik; manajemen terpadu; osteoarthritis ABSTRACTThe existence of policies from the government related to the COVID-19 pandemic also has an impact on the community, one of which is from the health aspect such as hampering access to health facilities, especially for the elderly. One of the most common diseases in the elderly is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a rheumatic disease due to metabolic disorders followed by several changes in the musculoskeletal system in the elderly. By providing training to elderly caregivers regarding the role of physical exercise in the integrated management of osteoarthritis, it is hoped that elderly caregivers can help the elderly in efforts to independently prevent osteoarthritis. This partnership program aims to increase the understanding of elderly caregivers on the role of physical exercise in the integrated management of osteoarthritis. This activity was carried out at the Tresno Muti Turen Nursing Home, Malang Regency, 3 times through the provision of learning materials and videos, as well as carrying out interactive discussions with 25 elderly caregivers. From the results of the evaluation, it was found that there was an increase in the understanding of the elderly caregivers, where before being given counseling, the average pre-test score was 60.00 and after being given counseling there was an increase in the post-test score to 84.00. This activity needs to be carried out as an effort to increase awareness, concern and encourage the involvement of the role of elderly caregivers and the elderly in an integrated management effort to prevent osteoarthritis through physical exercise. Keywords: elderly; integrated management; osteoarthritis; physical training

The Quebec Water Policy was launched in November 2002 in support of reform of the water governance. One of the government commitments is to gradually implement watershed-based management for 33 major watercourses located primarily in the St. Lawrence plain. At the local and regional levels, watershed organizations are responsible for implementing integrated management, from a sustainable-development perspective, by preparing a master plan for water (MPW), which will include watercourses, lakes, wetlands and aquifers. These watershed organizations rely on public consultation, as well as local and regional expertise, on the responsibilities for water of the municipalities and regional county municipalities of the territory, as well as those of the ministries and other government agencies. They are also required to observe national priorities regarding protection, restoration, and development of water resources and to comply with relevant guidelines, directives, standards, regulations, and legislation. The role of watershed organizations is to act as planning and consultation tables. Government representatives are present, on the initial process, as the facilitator and for scientific and technical support. They do not have, at this moment, any voting or decisional rights. After two years, integrated water management mobilized water stakeholders on watersheds and they are on their way to initiating their first MPW.

Background: This complete-enumeration, before-and-after type of study (without controls) was conducted on 61 third-year medical students at Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Thane, Maharashtra state to study the difference in cognitive domain scores after attending lecture-based learning (by a pre-test) and after attending case-based learning (by a post-test).Methods: After approval from the institutional ethics committee, the purpose of the study was explained to third-year medical students and written informed consent was obtained. After curriculum-based lectures on integrated management of neonatal and childhood Illness, a pre-test was administered wherein each student was asked to fill up case sheets for five case scenarios. The maximum marks obtainable were 10 marks per case (total 50 marks).  Case-based learning was conducted in two sub-groups comprising 31 and 30 randomly assigned students by the same faculty and students in each sub-group were exposed to identical case scenarios. The post-test was conducted using case scenarios and case sheets that were identical to that of the pre-test.Results: The overall mean score increased and the difference between the case-wise pre-test and post-test scores of both female (n=35) and male (n=26) students was highly significant (p <0.00001). However, the gender differences in pre-test score (Z=1.038; p=0.299) and post-test score were not significant (Z=0.114; p=0.909).Conclusions: Using case scenarios augmented the cognitive domain scores of participating students and the gender differences in scores were not statistically significant. The post-test scores showed higher variability. Remedial educational interventions would be required for students who obtained low scores in the post-test.

Abstract We study the role of housing wealth in financing retirement consumption. In our model retirees: 1. derive utility benefits from remaining in their home (aging in place); and 2. choose in each period whether to maintain their house. The evidence that we present shows that these features are important in explaining the saving decisions of the elderly. The costs and the maintenance requirement of reverse mortgages (RMs) reduce (or eliminate) the benefits of the loans for retirees who wish to do less maintenance. We evaluate the impact of different loan features on retirees’ utility, cash-flows to lenders, and to the government agency that provides mortgage insurance. We show that combining RMs with insurance against a forced home sale (e.g. due to a move to a nursing home) is Pareto improving and can lead to increased demand for the loans due to product complementarities.

Background: Brain vitalization gymnastics (BVG) is a form of physical exercise which attempts to synchronize bodily movements with cognition within the same time frame. This study aims to prove BVG can improve cognitive function among the elderly. BACKGROUND: Brain vitalisation gymnastics (BVG) is a form of physical exercise which attempts to synchronise bodily movements with cognition within the same time frame. AIM: This study aims to prove BVG can improve cognitive function among the elderly. METHODS: The impact of BVG was evaluated as opposed to elderly gymnastics (regarded as a control group) for a 4-week study period. Outcomes measured were improvements of cognitive function assessed by MoCA-Ina questionnaire, as well as the difference in serum levels of BDNF, IL-6, and S100β. An experimental pretest-posttest control design was applied to evaluate BDNF and IL-6 levels, while the post-test only designed to evaluate S100β levels. Parametric data were tested for normality before being proceeded into either parametric (independent student’ t) or non-parametric (Mann Whitney) test. RESULTS: BVG significantly improved cognitive function better than elderly gymnastics with MoCA-Ina score of 1.53 ± 1.58 dan 0.11 ± 2.54, respectively (p ≤ 0.047). BVG group also had increased BDNF levels when compared with control (-6020.58 ± 7857.22 dan 0.11 ± 2.54; p = 0.027). Whereas BVG had lower IL-6 levels as opposed to the control group (median pre-test IL-6: 2212, median post-test IL-6: 3197.50; p = 0.004). Meanwhile, S100β levels were found lower among BVG when compared with the control group, although statistically insignificant (p = 0.40). CONCLUSION: BVG programme for 4 weeks improved: (1) brain plasticity as shown by increased serum BDNF and S100β levels (although the latter was statistically not-significant), as well as marked decrease of IL-6 levels, (2) cognitive function as proven by an increase of MoCA-Ina score when compared with elderly gymnastics.
