This study aimed to analyze the hemato profile of crossbred lactating cows reared at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Dairy Farm. Thirty-two (32) healthy crossbred lactating cows of Holstein-Frisian (HF), Jersey (J), Sindhi Sahiwal (SS) and Red Chittagong (RCC) were selected for the study and divided into four (04) groups. The cows were allowed to feed and manage according to dairy farm own scheduled-ration. The collected blood samples were analyzed for hematological and biochemical parameters viz. Hemoglobin (Hb), Packed cell volume (PCV), Total leukocyte count (TLC), and Total erythrocyte count (TEC) and Serum urea, Glucose, Albumin, Calcium, and Phosphorus, respectively by using an automated chemistry analyzer. The results revealed that the hematological and biochemical parameters non-significantly (p>0.05) differed between the crossbred groups. From the experiment, the higher amount of Hb (11 g/dL) and PCV (40%) was found in HF and RCC cows, respectively. The TLC was higher in SS and RCC but the TEC was recorded stable along with a slight increment in RCC. As far as the biochemical parameters are concerned, the blood urea concentration was found higher (28 mg/dL) in HF and RCC lactating cows. The same pattern was observed in the case of albumin concentration. On the contrary, the lowest value of Calcium was found in RCC but the Phosphorus concentration showed a little higher in RCC. Background and Aim: Determining reference values for hematological and biochemical parameters of Asian house shrew (Suncus murinus) is important for wildlife research to protect human health in surrounding communities. This study aimed to establish the reference values for selected hematology and serum clinical chemistry analyses that may contribute to research on shrew in future. Materials and Methods: Blood samples (n=51) were collected from shrews between July and December 2015, Bangladesh, to estimate the levels of hemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), total leukocyte count (TLC), total erythrocyte count (TEC), lymphocyte, monocyte, neutrophil, eosinophil, basophil, calcium, phosphorus (P), sodium (Na), chloride (Cl), urea, glucose, total protein (TP), creatinine, and alanine transaminase (ALT). Results: Although the values did not differ significantly among sexes, age was found to be a significant factor. Hb, PCV, TEC, glucose, and P were higher in males; eosinophil, Na, Cl, TP, and ALT were higher among females. Adults had significantly greater urea and glucose (p<0.05) while juveniles had insignificantly higher values for TLC, PCV, neutrophil, P, and TP. Conclusion: This study provides the first reference values for this species in Bangladesh and can be used to guide wildlife research studies.

Background: Chronic kidney disease is a worldwide public health problem. It is associated with various biochemical and hematological abnormalities that leads to morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the biochemical and hematological parameters in chronic kidney disease patients.Methods: This is a prospective cross sectional study conducted over a period of six months on 52 chronic kidney disease patients at Kist Medical College Teaching Hospital, Lalitpur, Nepal. Biochemical parameters such as urea, creatinine, calcium, phosphorous, sodium, potassium and hematological parameters like hemoglobin, hematocrit, red blood cell count, total leukocyte count, platelet count were measured using standard techniques in chronic kidney disease cases and the findings were compared with age and sex matched controls. Results were analyzed using SPSS 21 for Windows.Results: Hemoglobin, hematocrit, red blood cell count, total leukocyte count and platelet count were reduced and statistically significant in chronic kidney disease patients compared to controls(p <0.05).In biochemical parameters, serum urea, creatinine, phosphorous were increased and calcium was reduced which was found statistically significant as compared to controls (p <0.05). The combination of diabetes and hypertension was the lead cause of chronic kidney disease found in 38.46% followed by hypertension alone in 30.76%Conclusion: Biochemical and hematological parameters are deranged in patients with chronic kidney disease. Routine evaluation of these parameters is useful in the management of these patients.

Physiological status-related changes in serum biochemical values are known to occur in many species. The aim of the current study was to evaluate total serum protein, albumin, glucose, calcium and phosphorus concentration and these parameters were measured by the serum analyzer for lactating (n=50) and non-lactating (n=50) dairy cattle in selected dairy farms of Chittagong district. The results (mean ± standard deviation) of the study showed that among serum biochemical parameters total protein (82.3 ± 2.15 gm/l), albumin (27.45 ± 5.06 gm/l), calcium (12.97±6.67 mg/dl) and phosphorus (7.26 ± 0.41 mg/dl) level in non-lactating cows were higher than the value of lactating cows as (81.28 ± 2.41 gm/l), (14.09 ± 2.05 gm/l), (10.05 ± 2.51 mg/dl) and (6.52 ± 0.30 mg/dl) respectively. Only glucose level in lactating cows (63.01 ± 6.67 mg/dl) was found higher than the non lactating cows (58.47 ± 3.84 mg/dl). In case of parity-wise parameters insignificant variation was noticed. It may be concluded that biochemical variation present between lactating cow and non lactating cow is important for interpretation of laboratory data and also for physiological diagnosis.Asian J. This research was conducted to determine the toxicity of fluvalinate to Lake Van fish (Alburnus tarichi) biometric, hematologic, and serum biochemicals. The fish were exposed to sub lethal fluvalinate concentration for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h for hematological and biochemical analyzes. Red blood cell, hemoglobin and hematocrit values decreased significantly in fish exposed to fluvalinate compared to control group. Significant increases in total leukocyte count were found. Compared with the control group, the serum enzyme aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase activity and serum glucose levels have increased significantly. This synthetic pyrethroid can be said to have a toxic effect on the Lake Van fish and can be used for controlling toxicity.

Increasing the milk productivity of cows is the main task facing the livestock industry of our country. The study of some hematological and biochemical blood parameters in dairy cows when different feed additives are included in their rations is an urgent research task. The purpose of the investigations was to study the hematological and biochemical parameters of the blood of lactating cows when using different feed additives in the ration. During the investigations, the influence of feed additives such as Zaslon 2+ (at a dose of 20 g/head/day to the main ration), Diatomite (100 g/head/day to the main ration) and Monosporin (70 g/head/day to the main ration) on the hematological and biochemical blood parameters of lactating cows has been observed. The studied feed additives are used for the adsorption of mycotoxins in feed, normalization of digestive processes, and improvement of the livability and productivity of farm animals. In order to study the influence of the tested feed additives on the hematological parameters of the blood of lactating cows under the conditions of the Troitsky area in the Chelyabinsk region, on four groups of cows selected according to the principle of analogues (age, live weight, productivity, breed, physiological condition) the scientific and economic experiment has been carried out. As the result of the investigations, data have been obtained indicating that the feed additive Zaslon 2+ at the dose of 20 g/head/day has the greatest effect on the metabolism in the body of lactating cows.

The experiment was conducted in the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, for a period of 28 days to study the effects of garlic (Allium sativum, Linn., @100mg/kg bwt.), turmeric (Curcuma longa, Linn., @100mg/kg bwt.)  and betel leaf (Piper betle, Linn., @100mg/kg bwt.) against natural gastrointestinal nematodes in cattle. The effects of garlic, turmeric and betel leaf on some hematological parameters (TEC, Hb, PCV and TLC), biochemical parameters (ALT and AST) and clinical parameter (body weight) were also observed. Twenty four (24) naturally parasitized cattle of BAU Dairy Farm, Mymensingh were randomly divided into four groups, each consisting of six (6) cattle. Water extract of bulbs of garlic were administered orally to the cattle of group A. Cattle of group B received orally water extract of rhizome of turmeric. Cattle of group C were treated orally with leaves of betel leaf. Cattle of group D was kept as infected control group. Fecal samples, body weight, hematological and biochemical parameters were examined before treatment and on 3rd, 10th, 17th and 28th day. A significant (p < 0.01) reduction of EPG count was found following administration of garlic (20.41-40.81%), turmeric (6.09-19.27%) and betel leaf (2.91-9.8%) in cattle. The EPG count of the control group (D) were significantly (p < 0.01) increased up to the last day of experimental period. After treatment with garlic and turmeric total erythrocyte count (TEC), hemoglobin (Hb) content and packed cell volume (PCV) were gradually increased significantly (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05) in cattle. Conversely, the total leukocyte count (TLC) were decreased significantly (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05) in treated cattle. On the other hand, TEC, Hb content and PCV were gradually increased significantly (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05) on day 3 and day 10 in betel leaf treated cattle but decreased on 17th and 28th day. Conversely, the total leukocyte count (TLC) were decreased significantly (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05) on day 3 and day 10 in betel leaf treated cattle but increased significantly (p < 0.01) on 17th and 28th day. The alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) level were not significantly changed in the cattle. The body weight was increased significantly (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05) in garlic, turmeric and betel leaf treated cattle. On the other hand, body weight was decreased in untreated control group. The present study reveals that water extracts of garlic were moderately effective and turmeric and betel leaf were relatively less effective against gastrointestinal nematodes in cattle. ABSTRACT: Corticosteroid therapy has been used for ruminants to allow lung maturation and the birth of premature babies. However, when considering laboratory analyses of these animals, very little data is available regarding hematological and biochemical patterns, especially for premature goats, and the effects of corticotherapy on these parameters are unknown. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the hematological and biochemical parameters during the first hours of life of premature kids from goats subjected to different dexamethasone protocols. For this, the goats were divided into four groups: group I, goats that received 20 mg of dexamethasone at 139 days of gestation; group II, 2 mg of dexamethasone from the 133rd to 136th day of gestation, 4 mg from the 137th to 139th, and 20 mg on the 140th; group III, 16 mg of dexamethasone from the 139th day, with repeated doses every 12 h until elective surgery; and group IV, goats that received 4, 8, 16, and 20 mg of dexamethasone at 137, 138, 139, and 140 days of gestation, respectively. Blood samples were obtained at birth (T0h) and after 1 (T1h), 12 (T12h), 24 (T24h), and 48 h (T48h) of life for hemogram and serum biochemistry assessment of urea, creatinine, total protein (PT), and gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT). PT levels and GGT activity were lower at birth in all groups and rose after colostrum ingestion. The creatinine values for all the experimental groups did not differ between T0h and T1h; however, they decreased in the subsequent moments. Except for group I, urea concentrations were higher at T48h than at T1h. The red blood cell, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and mean corpuscular hemoglobin counts decreased over time. The total leukocyte count behaved differently in different experimental groups, and was influenced by the levels of dexamethasone, mainly due to the change in the counts of segmented neutrophils and lymphocytes. It was concluded that significant changes in the hematological and biochemical parameters occur in the first hours of life of premature kids, and that the treatment of goats with dexamethasone can affect these parameters in a dose-dependent manner.

A modern dairy farm is a complex biotechnical “man-machine-animal” system, where purposeful human activity concentrates mainly on the control of the “machine” and “animal” subsystems, thus making the whole system ergatic. Increasing the interaction effi ciency of machine subsystems with biological objects (animals) requires an in-depth study of the properties and characteristics of the latter, their behavior, adaptive and refl ex mechanisms that ensure the mutual adaptation of machine and biological subsystems. The paper considers general functionality of the “animal” subsystem, which includes lists of monitored parameters (functions) in pre-weaning, pre-lactation and lactation periods. In a similar way, functionals of the subsystems of the general musculoskeletal development of the animal’s body, respiratory and digestive organs, comfort of the habitat, development and control of the reproductive organs of lactating cows were obtained accompanied with a list of controlled functions and parameters. To carry out a set of research activities in this fi eld, FSAC VIM is planning to carry out a complex project that will increase the levels of automation, digitalization and intellectualization of animal husbandry, provide for comfortable environment, optimal rediced-impact service modes for animals and their extended productive longevity, increased quality of milk and autonomous functioning of individual local biotechnical subsystems.

The purpose of the research: study of the influence of increased doses of fenbendazole supramolecular complex (FSMC) on sheep’s organism. Materials and methods. The experiment was carried out at the Podolsk Department of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Parasitology of Animals and Plants named after K. I. Skryabin on 20 manorial invasion-free sheep aged 2-3 years old. Animals were divided according to the principle of analogues into 4 groups, 5 heads in each group. Animals of the 1, 2 and 3 group were orally administered with FSMC given as a single dose of 2, 6, 10 mg/kg, respectively, according to the active substance, i.e in therapeutic and in a dose increased by 3 and 5 times. Sheep of the fourth group didn’t receive the drug and they were as control. Study of clinical, hematological and biochemical parameters of animals from all groups was conducted 1 day before and in 1, 3, 5 days after administration of the drug by means of standard methods. Results and discussion. FSMC in therapeutic dose as well as in a dose increased by 3 and 5 times doesn’t have negative influence on clinical, hematological and biochemical parameters of the sheep. State of the sheep, which received the drug in doses of 20, 60, 100 mg/kg, was within the physiologically normal state and didn’t differ from the state before administration of the drug and from the animals of the control group. Drug security index exceeds 5. Red blood cell count, white blood cell count, hemoglobin count, leukogram parameters as well as biochemical parameters of blood: activity of alkaline phosphatase and amylase, bilirubin, creatinine, urea and glucose counts were within normal limits and didn’t differ from the parameters of the control animals.
