The study was conducted to know the role of ICTs in increasing agricultural production perceived by the coastal farmers of southern Bangladesh. Data were collected from 120 randomly selected farmers during August 2017 with the objectives to determine the extent of the role of ICTs in increasing agricultural production. The role of ICTs was measured by Likert type rating scale with assigned score and Farmers Perception Index was used to explain the relative proportion of the statements related to perception regarding the role of ICTs. Majority of the respondents (62.50%) observed medium role of ICTs in increasing agricultural production followed by 21.67% and 15.83% observed high and low role of ICTs respectively. Correlation analysis indicated that among the selected seven socio-economic characteristics; respondent's level of education, annual family income, communication exposure, and participation in agricultural training showed positive and significant relationship with the role of ICTs. On the other hand, age, credit received and household assets showed no significant relationship with the role of ICTs in increasing agricultural production. It was found that the large portion (88.8%) of the farmers faced medium to high constraints and only 11.2% faced low constraints in using the ICTs for increasing agricultural production. The purposes of the study were to determine the extent of awareness of the fishermen in managing fish sanctuary and to find out the relationships between the extent of awareness of the fishermen and their selected characteristics. Data were collected from 90 purposively selected fishermen (out of 105) from Ghosherpara Union of Melandah Upazila Under Jamalpur District. A pre-tested and structured interview schedule was used to collect data from the fishermen during the period of 19 March to 30 March, 2013. The findings indicated that majority of the respondents (74.5 percent) had medium awareness and 25.5 percent having high awareness. Out of ten selected characteristics, the fishermen’s age, level of education, fish culture experience, communication exposure and agricultural knowledge on fish sanctuary showed significant positive relationships with their extent of awareness in managing fish sanctuary. On the other hand, household size, farm size, annual family income, training exposure and credit received had no significant relationships with their extent of awareness in managing fish sanctuary. So, to increase awareness of the fishermen in managing sanctuary, proper guidance and strengthening fisheries extension service should be done by fisheries extension workers/ upazila fisheries officer through arranging different activities including training, field visit or using different communication media etc.Progressive Agriculture 27 (3): 339-345, 2016

AbstractSubject and purpose of work: The purpose of the study is to evaluate the utilisation of resources necessary for agricultural production as well as their protection in farms conducting ecological production. The deliberations undertaken in this paper focus on certified farms due to their specificity and character of their production, which is compatible with the principles of sustainable development. Materials and methods: The article uses the results of research from twenty ecological farms in the Chełm- Zamość subregion of Lublin Voivodeship. The deciding factor in selecting this region was the prominent role of agricultural production in this region when compared to the other ones in the voivodeship. Results: The research results have shown that there is a lack of correlation between actions taken by producers and caring for the natural environment. Farmers displayed little awareness with regard to the use of environmental resources and assets in agricultural production. Conclusions: Running a farm aimed at ecological production is connected with the implementation of solutions that have not found application in traditional agricultural production, with obtaining a certificate and the need for training and further study. This does not, however, translate into the introduction of pro-ecological solutions in agricultural production or the farm itself. A significant share of the investigated producers did not report the need for introducing such solutions. It indicates the need for continuous broadening of knowledge and creating ecological.

Radiocaesium is a pollutant with a high risk for the environment, agricultural production, and human health. It is mobile in ecosystems and can be taken up by plants via potassium transporters. In this study, we focused on the role of potassium transporter AtKUP7 of the KT/HAK/KUP family in Cs+ and K+ uptake by plants and in plant tolerance to caesium toxicity. We detected that Arabidopsiskup7 mutant accumulates significantly lower amounts of 134Cs in the root (86%) and in the shoot (69%) compared to the wild-type. On the other hand ability of the mutant to grow on media with toxic (100 and 200 µM) concentrations of Cs+ was not changed; moreover its growth was not impaired on low K+. We further investigated another mutant line in AtKUP7 and found that the growth phenotype of the kup7 mutants in K+ deficient conditions is much milder than previously published. Also, their accumulation of K+ in shoots is hindered only by severe potassium shortage.

Academic achievement is a form of success of a student obtained from the learning process in schools and colleges, this is realized because of the role of parents based on education level and income. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between education level and income of parents with academic achievement. The method used in the study was an analytic observational study with a cross sectional design, involving 85 respondents selected through consecutive sampling. The results of the study stated that the income of male parents was very high at 43.5%, the income of female parents was low at 28.2%, the education level of parents was medium (45.9% for men and 41.2% for women), student academic achievement is high (49.4%), there is no significant relationship between the level of education of parents and student academic achievement (p> 0.05), and there is a significant relationship between parents' income and student academic achievement (p <0.05). Thus, there is no significant relationship between the level of education of parents and the academic achievement of the Nursing Faculty of Klabat University students, but there is a significant relationship between parents' income and the academic achievement of the Nursing Faculty students of Klabat University. SummaryWe measured total and free protein S (PS), protein C (PC) and factor X (FX) in 393 healthy blood donors to assess differences in relation to sex, hormonal state and age. All measured proteins were lower in women as compared to men, as were levels in premenopausal women as compared to postmenopausal women. Multiple regression analysis showed that both age and subgroup (men, pre- and postmenopausal women) were of significance for the levels of total and free PS and PC, the subgroup effect being caused by the differences between the premenopausal women and the other groups. This indicates a role of sex-hormones, most likely estrogens, in the regulation of levels of pro- and anticoagulant factors under physiologic conditions. These differences should be taken into account in daily clinical practice and may necessitate different normal ranges for men, pre- and postmenopausal women.
