This thesis is entitled Nathaniel’s Ambition to Revenge on SimonLovelace Described in Jonathan Stroud’s The Bartimaeus Trilogy: The Amuletof Samarkand has an objective to analyze ambition and motive of Nathanielalias John Mandrake to revenge on Simon Lovelace as his enemy. Theresearcher used descriptive qualitative method to find out Ambition and motiveof Nathaniel alias John Mandrake after Humiliated by Simon Lovelace. Whilelibrary research method was used to gain any references dealing with the objectof analysis. Technique of analysis is divided into two, there are structural andpsychology approach. Structural approach was used to analyze structuralelements like general description, conflict, and setting, while psychologicalapproach was used to analyze and describe problems dealing with the object ofstudy. The collected data were analyzed by reading the novel. The researcherpresents all the data by the quotation through general description, conflict andsetting. The results of this research show that the main character is described asa person who is genius, clever, restless, arrogant, and curious. He belongs toround dynamic character since he has more than one specific traits and he alsochanges from the beginning till the end of the story. The main character alsoexperiences internal conflict about him admitting the truth about who steal theamulet, to disobey his master, blame himself and also external conflict againsthis master, Bartimaeus, Maurice Schyler, The Resistance and Simon Lovelace.The setting in this novel is divided into setting of place; Attic room, SirUnderwood house, Boarded-up building, Heddleham Hall, Small library andThe hall of Heddleham Hall, setting of time; morning in boarded-up building,10.15 am and setting of social on high social class. Nathaniel alias JohnMandrake’s ambition is motivated by humiliation and murder drives him to gaineverything that needs to commit revenge. The purpose of this study was to describe the psychological conflicts contained in the novel Arini Masih Ada Kereta yang Lewat by Mira W. The research method used is descriptive method. The data source in the study was the novel Arini Masih Ada Kereta yang Lewat by Mira W. consisting of 232 pages, a book thickness of 20 cm, published in 2018 by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama. The collection technique uses literature study techniques, reading techniques, and note taking techniques. While the data analysis technique used content analysis techniques. Based on the research results, it shows that the psychological conflicts built in the novel Arini Masih Ada Kereta yang Lewat by Mira W are in the form of internal conflict and external conflict. Internal conflict, namely the main character Arini felt a raging feeling shortly after the feeling of happiness when she saw the baby she had given birth to. Then, the external conflict, namely the character Arini knows a reality that Helmi said, such as a slap for Arini, a child who he thought had died was still alive and Helmi who took care of him.

The purpose of this study is to describe the quality of the language available in the novel teenager "D'Angel Princess" by Luna Torashyngu. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Data in this study Various styles on the novel teenagers "D'Angel Princess" by Luna Torashyngu. Documentation technique is used in the data collection technigue. Data analysis technique in this research is done through steps, that is: (1) reading novelteenlit "Angel Angel" by Luna Torashyngu (2) hiding data, (3) classifying data, (4) analyzing data, and (5) conclude. Test the validity of the data is a credibility test conducted by increasing persistence with the supervisor during the process, and discussion with colleagues. The results found in the novel D'Angel Princess by Luna Torashyngu in slang and not used to separate the characteristics of the teen novel. Then the word denotation and author connotation to express and convince the compiler readers convey narration and description in the story, said Science used as a means to monetize a novel theme with a scientific theme, the words used to sort out teenage characters who look slang. The use of sentences is used to describe the main character in the sentence Usage. The author's written sentence contains descriptions and narrations to make the story more interesting and easy to understand. Comment topic sentence  gives a beautiful impression or a beautiful comment on the characters. Use of minor sentences is used  to give challenge and sincerity to what people say so that readers feel confidence. This research is concerned with the motivation in Andrea Hirata’s novel The Rainbow Troops. The novel is also a reflection of the biographical sketches of the author.  The objectives of the study are to identify the kinds of motivations reflected in The Rainbow Troops’ novel and to describe the motivations developing in “The Rainbow Troops” novel. Motivation is a direction and also energy for people to do everything included learning something. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method in this study with the aim at describing a place, fact and characteristics of population systematically, factually and accurately. This research method is also appropriate to expose social phenomena.  The data are in the forms the text and quotation from the novel containing motivation. The results of research show that there are two kinds of motivations found in the novel: extrinsic and intrinsic motivations. Extrinsic motivation consists of never giving up and education and attitude needs to be learned; for intrinsic: hard work for education, and honesty.

This research focused on comparing the struggle of a woman during the Indonesian political upheaval 1965 in the novel of Gadis Jakarta by Najib Kaelani and the novel of Amba by Laksmi Pamuntjak. Using a comparative analysis descriptive research method, the research show results that there are similarities in the two novels. First, both novels' main character is an educated woman who has education up to college and both colleges at the Faculty of Literature. Second, the time of events in the two novels is the same (during the Indonesian political upheaval 1965), in which the G30S/PKI rebellion took place. Third, the place settings in both novels are also similar (in Jakarta's capital city). Fourth, loved ones who want to be saved by the main characters in both novels are people who are being loved by the main character. Fifth, in both novels, there is a similarity in women's struggle in saving their love who were kidnapped during the PKI rebellion. In addition to the similarities above, there are also differences in the two novels. First, in Gadis Jakarta, from the beginning to the end of the story, the writer told only about the period of Indonesian political upheaval 1965. In contrast, Amba did not. Secondly, the main character in Gadis Jakarta died after being shot, while the main character in Amba lives up to the end of the story. Third, the fate of the characters saved or sought after by the main characters in the two novels is also different.

The research was conducted with the aim of (1) describing the objective structure aspects, (2) describing the value of moral education in the Asma Nadia Pesantren Impian novel. The object in this study is the aspect of objective structure and the value of moral education contained in the novel Pesantren Impian by Asma Nadia. The subject of his research was Asma Nadia's Dream Dream School. The instruments in this study were the researchers themselves, note books, ballpoint pens, and relevant books that could be used as reference material. Data collection techniques used by researchers used library techniques and note-taking techniques, namely by: (1) the researcher reads novel, (2) the author identifies the data, (3) records the results of the data relating to novel. The research method used by the researcher is the description method. The analysis technique used by researchers is the content technique of content analysis authors. The results of this study indicate that (1) the theme found in Asma Nadia's Pesantren Impian novel is the determination and effort of a woman to become a better person after undergoing a rehabilitation period in a pesantren. The main character is Girl, Rini is an additional figure, Teungku Umar, Teungku Hasan, Sinta and Santi. The background is divided into two types, namely the place setting and the time setting. The plot / groove used is a backlight or flash back. The point of view used is the third person's viewpoint of omniscience. (2) the value of moral education, namely respect, compassion and helpfulness.

This thesis analyzed the transgender process in the main character. The purpose of this thesis is to find out and understand how that happens and to look for the two transgender causes found in the novel. The main character in this novel is a boy who always feels confused with his identity. He always tried to find out who he was, find out which identity he felt comfortable with. But as long as he was confused, he did not get significant support from his family, girlfriends and his friends to stay with the gender he had at that time, instead, they directed him to follow his conscience. All obstacles experienced by the boy in finding his true identity make this novel interesting to look deeper. The theory used to analyze is Theory by Susan Stryker and the concept of diagnostic criteria for gender identity disorder by the American Psychiatric Association. The research method used in this thesis is a qualitative method and library research. The author collected the data from the novel and from several sources of articles, books, and journals related to this thesis. The results of this thesis are to reveal the truth that transgender criteria are truly experienced by the main characters and get the causes of the transgender in his daily lives. Abstract: The inner conflict element which happen to main character in the drama script nyanyian angsa creation by Anton Chekov. The research method which using for analysis the script is qualitative method that description analysis. Research focus internal conflict element in drama script nyanyian angsa creation by Anton Chekov with subject focus element Id >< Ego, Id >< Eros and Superego >< Thanatos. The research instruments analyze scene that have an element of inner conflict in the script nyanyian angsa creation by Anton Chekov. To get the results the writer using presentation table from the element of inner conflict that accumulated. The impact of implications for students, the students must be directly involved actively in literary learning activities that is drama script in the school. The student also required to understand the contents of the drama script very well. To improve literature learning that is drama script, students must improve own learning method outside of school hours, for example be part of theatre extracurricular activities. This is intended so that the ability of students can be channel properly.     Key words: inner conflict, drama script, literature teaching.

The novel Sepertiga Malam di Manhattan by Arumi E is very interesting to study. This novel is a novel about the struggle of a family to get happiness. This novel is the Arumi E's 27th newest novel. The struggle in this novel is to make the family happy, expecting for the baby. Before writing the novel, Arumi E did a research in the places written in the novel to achieve a very interesting fictional story and most of this story was taken from the traveling results so it was so interesting. The objective of this research is to describe (1) the Autopoetic System in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E. (2) The differentiation system in the Novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E.The research method used is in the form of a descriptive qualitative method that uses a social system approach. The method used by the researcher is the dialectical method. The data source used in this research is the novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E, published by Gramedia publisher in 2018. The data collection in this study uses the steps of reading the novel. To collect data, the researcher use any instrument.There are two results of the study: (1) The autopoetic system in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E. is concerning to some characters who have their own beliefs or rules in their lives who do not want to follow the rules of others, they are more confident in their own way to success and purpose of life. (2) The system of differentiation in the novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E. is covering the handling of changes in the environment, the characters are able to adapt to the new environment, which has a different culture from the original culture. This shows evidence of the system autopoetic and differentiation in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E.

Hedonism is a view of life in philosophy that seeks to avoid pain and make pleasure as the main goal in life. People who embrace hedonism tend to over-pursue pleasure. The hedonism lifestyle is mostly carried out by 18th century people especially the nobles who live in high culture. They are as close to hedonism as they are in the Persuasion novel by Jane Austen. Sir Walter Elliot the main character is a nobleman who did a lot of hedonism. Hedonism which is seen as too glorifying personal pleasure to ignore others. The purpose of this study was to find out the types of hedonism done by Sir Walter Elliot in Persuasion. This research uses descriptive qualitative method because all data are in the form of sentences. The researcher uses a philosophical approach and analyzes data using Weijers' theory as the main theory. The results of this study found that Sir Walter Elliot performed two types of hedonism, namely aesthetic hedonism and selfish hedonism.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the cultural values in the ritual of Bulangan Londong Sembangan Suke Barata as part of the Toraja indigenous people life. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. Meanwhile, the respondents involved in this study include culturist, linguists, and the Toraja community. The research instruments used in this study were document files, interviews with the subjects, and observations using a video recorder that recorded the ritual process of Bulangan Londong Sembangan Suke Barata. The data analysis technique in this study includes three main steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the cultural values contained in the rituals of the Bulang Londong Sembangan Suke Barata were 'Manuk' which symbolized the value of the work ethic, 'Ussembang Suke Barata' which represented the religious value of bamboo slashed by 'Mina', and 'Kayunan Londong' which personifies the leader's patriotic value.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki nilai-nilai budaya dari ritual bulangan londong sembangan suke barata dari masyarakat adat Toraja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Responden penelitian ini adalah budayawan, ahli bahasa, dan komunitas Toraja. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah file dokumen, wawancara dengan subjek, dan pengamatan dengan menggunakan perekam video pada ritual bulangan londong sembangan suke barata. Teknik analisis data mencakup tiga langkah utama, pengurangan data, presentasi data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam ritual bulangan londong sembangan suke barata adalah manuk yang melambangkan nilai etos kerja, ussembang suke barata yang mewakili nilai religius bambu yang ditebas oleh mina, dan kayunan londong sebagai personifikasi nilai patriotik pemimpin.
