The article presents the results of a study to assess the provision of innovations at enterprises and organizations of the timber industry. The crisis consequences associated with restrictive measures had a significant impact on the timber industry. The changes are primarily related to the transfer of many workers to a remote form of work, the observance of social distance in the workplace. Many business leaders were forced to make management decisions to reduce production capacity. The key component of the developed methodology is the formed deterministic factor model, which reflects the provision of innovations at enterprises, formed on the basis of indicators characterizing the level of innovative development. The study was based on such indicators as the dynamics of research funding in the structure of GDP, the dynamics of costs associated with financing innovative activities, the level of innovative activity, as well as the volume of innovative products. Based on the results of the assessment, it was concluded that pulp and paper enterprises are provided with innovations most of all, against the background of more than a twofold increase in the costs of science and innovation. Then there are woodworking enterprises, where there is a stable low level of innovation provision. The worst situation is demonstrated by furniture enterprises, where a critical level of innovation provision is noted.

This paper aims to provide a comparative analysis of private demand for innovation in the context of the ex-YU countries such as Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia from 2011 to 2016. One key variable for the importance of demand for innovation is the buyer sophistication. This signals the ability of buyers to select products and services based on performance rather than price and to bear the cost of products at the beginning of the life cycle. The companies that face a sophisticated domestic market are likely to sell high quality products and a close proximity to such consumers should to enables the company to better understand the needs and desires of the customers and how they perceive the value of the product. For cultural or historical reasons, buyers may be more demanding in some countries than in others. Hence, оur start point is that “higher degrees of buyer sophistication can to explain higher shares of innovative sales” (Hollanders and Es-Sadki, 2017, p. 42) and opposite “lower shares of innovative sales could to explain lower degrees of buyer sophistication” in the above countries. Thus, our analysis relies on two key indicators, the “buyer sophistication” and the “sales of new-to-market and new-to-firm product innovations”, which are including, the first in the Global Competitiveness Report and the second, in the European Innovation Scoreboard. Looking at the results, it can be noted that Serbia has a big gap between the two indicators, so the extent of buyer sophistication is lower from the extent of innovative sales. Аs business leaders make a subjective assessment of the GCR’s indicator Buyer sophistication, it can be assumed that Serbian business leaders assess the sophistication of domestic customers much lower than it is. This example is somewhat similar to the Slovenian business leaders. These two countries achieve the same level of sales of innovative products, while Macedonia and Croatia are in the same group and have lower sales of innovative products. This finding calls for demand-oriented policies which would have to influence the innovation culture in the market, making buyers more risk taking, aware of innovations and empower them to buy and use them.

The problem of targeted financing of economic sectors is considered. The method of targeted financing of sectors of the economy through investment in innovative development is proposed. On the basis of statistical data on the performance indicators of the sectors of the economy, the calculation of indicators of their innovative potential was carried out, based on the volume of sold innovative products (goods, services) by type of economic activity. In order to stimulate sectors of the economy by investing in innovative development, it is proposed to introduce targeted financing of the latter. The problem of quantitative assessment of targeted financing of economic sectors by means of investment in innovative development based on an integrated approach has been solved. According to the results obtained, sectors of the economy that are identified as the most risky and have the potential for innovative development fall under targeted financing. The proposed technique was tested by an experimental method. On the basis of an integrated approach for the indicators of the riskiness of the economic sector and the indicator of the innovative potential of the economic sector, targeted financing for 3 sectors of the economy (namely: P, N, M, L and J) was determined. Sector P will receive more targeted funding, while sectors N, M, L and J will receive less targeted funding, respectively. The size of these parts will be 47.30 %, 22.31 %, 13.48 %, 9.56 % and 7.34 %, respectively, of 100 % S. The results of the study are of practical interest for government bodies (local, territorial, etc.) in the distribution of funds according to the vector of targeted financing of sectors of the economy through investment in innovative development. Practically valuable for researchers who deal with issues of financial security, targeted financing and public administration

The article develops and substantiates the theoretical and methodological and applied principles of innovative development of agricultural production in the context of digitalization of the economy. In modern conditions, the key to sustainable development and efficiency of the agricultural sector is the use of advanced technologies and developments, including digital, which is especially important for our state, which aims to form an information society. It is determined that informatization and globalization of the economy, as well as reducing the share of traditional ways and industries, expanding the service sector, knowledge-intensive and high-tech industries are prerequisites for structural transformations of the economy, which are necessary for innovative development and digitalization. It is noted that by overcoming information barriers, increasing production capacity and changing the nature of production processes, digital technologies can make economic development more inclusive, efficient and innovative. The current level of digitalization of the economy allows to organize mechanisms for collecting, processing and delivery to the place of use of basic and effective information with minimal use of labor, material and financial resources to perform these functions. Having relevant information is a unique competitive advantage of businesses, which allows them to increase the accuracy of forecasting their activities and, thus, to ensure economic stability. By simplifying tasks and increasing the productivity of existing factors of production, digital information and communication technologies can significantly increase the economic efficiency of agricultural production. It is established that for a harmonious combination of all possible directions of innovative development it is necessary to create certain conditions, the main of which is a single digital platform, the formation of which will promote innovative development of agro-industrial enterprises, which is a necessary and sufficient condition for structural and sectoral transformations.

FDI brings up the capital inflows from abroad which is invested in the production capacity of the economy and are preferred as external finance because they are non-debt creating, non-volatile and their returns depend on the performance of projects financed by investors. It expedites international trade and transfer of information and technology. Thus, ‘FDI acts as a catalyst for the growth nation’. The Indian insurance market is expected to grow up to 125 percent in the next decade which would indirectly be a boost for the Indian Economy. Increased FDI limit up to 100 percent will allow more new players to enter and strengthen the existing companies. This will promote higher competition, innovative products, digital distribution channels and cheaper policy premium for their customers. Therefore, this paper primarily focuses on the FDI in the Insurance sector in India and its significance. In the Budget 2015-16 the government announced, three ambitious Social Security Schemes about Insurance and Pension Sector (a) PradhanMantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (b) PradhanMantri JeevanJyoti Yojana and (c) Atal Pension Yojana. These schemes help to create universal social security system for all Indians, especially the poor and underprivileged. The health insurance scheme Ayushman Bharat will provide good quality health care up to Rs.5 lakh per family per year at government and private hospitals all over India. This scheme will be available for 50 crore Indians and covers 10.74 beneficiaries. In this backdrop, this article aims to analyze the performance of Non-life Insurance sector in India after the increase of FDI from 26 percent to 49 percent (which has come into force from 16 March 2016).

Management of the competitiveness of the regional forestry sector is defined by social, economic, environmental, institutional and other factors as an impact on the regional forestry sector and its actors in order to create and strengthen competitive advantages in the domestic and foreign markets, to maintain the integrity and sustainable development of the sector, reflected in the indicators that characterise the state of competitiveness. The availability and condition of forest capital is studied on a time-discounting basis, taking into account factors such as forest maturity and logging turnover. Based on the strategic level of forest capital competitiveness, the degree of implementation of the forest capital competitiveness strategy is determined in two ways: a) forest capital competitiveness based on traditional technologies; b) forest capital competitiveness based on innovations. To assess the competitiveness of forest capital, it is proposed to use the indicator "Estimated incremental value of forestry capital". In the authors' opinion, the calculation of this indicator should be defined as the ratio of financial flow in the form of the sum of net profit and depreciation to the value of assets. The proposed author's approach makes it possible to estimate innovation resources, the application of which will make it possible to identify priority areas of innovative growth of the timber industry complex and select priority areas of its innovative development.
