The urgency of the topic is that the processes of European integration in Ukraine involve increasing the competitiveness of police officers, which necessitates the definition of conditions for their professional self-realization. One of the most important indicators of professional self-realization is success in professional activities. It is difficult to define this concept, especially in relation to the professional activity of a female police officer. Her success is evaluated from different angles: society as a whole, the team with which there is interaction during the performance of professional duties, the leadership of the organization, the family. The success of professional achievements is assessed by the woman herself, first of all, it concerns the possibility of revealing her potential and its maximum realization in the professional sphere. The article is devoted to the definition of areas of psychological support for the professional activities of women police officers, aimed at promoting their successful self-realization. Various indicators of professional success are analyzed. The factors that cause the gradual accumulation of changes in the structure of professional activity and personal characteristics, which negatively affect productivity and interaction with other participants in the work process, are identified. The model of psychological support of professional activity of women police officers in the set of the following blocks is substantiated: diagnostic; psychological and pedagogical; socio-psychological; psychocorrectional. To realize their potential and succeed in any field of professional activity, women police officers must be able to gain social approval and professional status in accordance with their efforts, material security, gain a sense of self-importance and self-esteem, and maintain the commitment of their loved ones and family members. while remaining himself, without distorting his “I” and without destroying his personality. This necessitates psychological support of women’s professional activity in the National Police of Ukraine, which is aimed at solving individual and personal problems and supporting the personality of the specialist at all stages of professional self-determination.

The relevance of the study of individual psychological characteristics of employees of criminal investigation departments in transport in the North-Western Federal district of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (hereinafter referred to as the NWFD) in relation to indicators of professional deformation is due to the specific features of their official activities. Despite a significant amount of research on the phenomenon of professional deformity of police officers, there are few thoroughly developed and completed works on the prevention of professional deformities of police officers. The purpose of our research was to study the individual psychological characteristics of employees of criminal investigation departments in connection with the risk of professional deformation. The results of the empirical study were processed by correlation and factor analysis (49 parameters). The results of the initial analysis showed that the overall assessment of job satisfaction among employees of the studied departments is average with a downward trend. The results of the study on «professional burnout» revealed that a number of employees surveyed are close to emotional exhaustion. It is established that empathic abilities, social intelligence, and constructive coping strategies play an important role in the structure of individual psychological characteristics of police officers. Low ability of employees to learn behavior determines non-constructive strategies and models for coping with stressful situations, which leads to deformation of relationships with other people, i.e. to professional deformation. The obtained data can be used as the basis for the program of psychoprophylaxis of professional deformation of criminal investigation units in transport in the northwestern Federal district.

In the context of increasing familiarity with mainstream superhero comics and their characters, a wide range of readers are being exposed to the values regarding gender and social control being communicated in this genre. Therefore, it is important to assess whether social control is signified differently for males and females in superhero comics. This presentation will begin with a discussion of why it is important to study comics and graphic novels. I will then outline the concept of social control and criminological theories centered on this idea before demonstrating why superheroes may be understood as agents of social control. This will bring me to a discussion of preliminary findings of a qualitative content analysis of issues of Batman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Ms Marvel, Justice League of America, and New Avengers comics released from May to October 2007. In examining the leadership positions, the formal and informal methods employed, those over whom social control is exercised, and relative success of each superhero in these issues, I am seeking to assess whether social control is portrayed as being exercised by male and female superheroes in different ways and to identify how this happens. The results of this content analysis will be compared with previous studies of women police officers to assess whether representations of female agents of social control in superhero comics are consistent with the experiences of real‐life criminal justice practitioners. Finally, the reasons for and implications of the nature of such media constructions will be briefly explored to encourage other students to study comics and graphic novels.
