College students are often assumed to be digitally fluent as they are “digital natives”, owing to their exposure to digital technologies from an early age. Furthermore, it is assumed that this digital competence is likely to prepare them for learning in college. However, it has been observed that current college students who are “digital natives” may or may not effectively apply digital technologies during their college education. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of college students’ prior digital experiences, particularly their families’ influence, on their in-college digital competence and attitude, and by extension, on student engagement. A total of 381 university students were surveyed in this study. Data was obtained from a self-administered, online survey and analyzed using partial least squares, which also evaluated the research model. According to the findings of this study, students’ positive prior digital experience significantly influences their perceived digital competence and their attitude toward digital technologies. In addition, our research also indicates that college students’ perceived digital competence and attitudes are mediated by their learning agility, which is the ability to continuously learn and the willingness to apply acquired knowledge. This article may thus act as a springboard for further empirical research, as well as for examining the nature of students’ prior and positive experiences and learning agility in digital competencies.

The problems of global economic growth are largely due to factors in the dynamics of the oil and gas sector. The paper examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis caused by it on the activities of firms in six sectors of the Russian economy. On the basis of a series of 45 in-depth interviews with the heads of companies and business associations and Russian and international industrial statistics, we show the reaction of enterprises to the crisis and changes in their models of behavior, as well as differences in the forms of communication between government and business in different sectors of Russian economy. Paper shows that key problems faced by firms in 2020 were emerged before the pandemic. During the crisis better performance was demonstrated by firms which before made significant investment in technological development and used digital technologies. Broad application of distant employment model in 2020 led to aggressive HR policy of large firms from Moscow and St.Petersburg in regional markets and increased competition for high-qualified workers. Sectoral associations played important role as representative of collective interests of business in negotiations with authorities. In the conclusion paper discusses the challenges for business and state in the post-crisis development.

The measures to fight the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic have been concentrated on inviting people to stay at home. This has reduced opportunities to exercise while also shedding some light on the importance of physical health. Based on an online survey, this paper investigated physical activity behaviours of a Belgians sample (n = 427) during the lockdown period between the end of May 2020 and the beginning of June 2020 and found that, during this period, the gap between sufficiently and insufficiently active individuals widened even more. This paper analysed important moderators of physical activity behaviours, such as barriers and benefits to exercise, digital support used to exercise, and individuals’ emotional well-being. Descriptive analysis and analyses of variance indicated that, generally, individuals significantly increased their engagement in exercise, especially light- and moderate-intensity activities, mostly accepted the listed benefits but refused the listed barriers, increased their engagement in digital support and did not score high on any affective measures. A comparison between sufficiently active and insufficiently active individuals during the lockdown showed that the former engaged even more in physical activity, whereas the latter exercised equally (i.e., not enough) or even less compared to before the lockdown. By means of a logistic regression, five key factors of belonging to the sufficiently active group were revealed and discussed. Practical implications for government and policies are reviewed.

Cyberbullying, a form of bullying with the use of digital technologies, has become increasingly common among teenagers. It can take place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms, and previous studies provide several lines of evidence that no relationship is found between cyberbullying and the influences of introversion and extraversion. To further investigate the impact of cyberbullying, this research was conducted with the aim of finding relationship between introversion, extraversion and cyberbullying among teenagers in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. A cross-sectional study was conducted using an online survey questionnaire that contained questions for assessing both the cyberbullying behavior and the personality of participants. Eysenck’s Personality Inventory (EPI)1 was used in this survey to assess the type of personality in teenagers. The results showed that there was no correlation between cyberbullying and personality.

The health crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus has spread to a multidimensional crisis and has a domino effect on the socio-economic and financial sectors. The economic crisis as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has become increasingly severe because it was accompanied by lockdown and physical distancing policies which resulted in decreasing productivity in the economy. The purpose of this research is to describe the structured efforts taken by the Government of Indonesia in dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The policy combination adopted by the Government of Indonesia is in the form of policies to issue a series of regulations providing legal certainty and flexibility while still highlighting the accountability. Refocusing and budget reallocation are also taken by the government to provide more flexible space for Ministries/Institutions to contribute to managing the impact of COVID-19. Another policy is the issuance of three stimulus packages and the launch of the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN).

Introduction. The article aims to examine the problems pertaining to personality traits and physiological development caused by the digital transformation of education. Education is one of the main components of a society’s social structure and is constantly subject to changes under external factors. One of these factors is digitalization, which has an ambiguous impact on the abovementioned process. Research methodology. The methodological basis of the research consists of general scientific methods such as synthesis, analysis, comparison, as well as special research methods such as content analysis of official documents. Results. In the course of the research the author comes to the conclusion that not only does the digitalization of education create new opportunities for learning but also gives rise to problems that can potentially affect the development of pupils' personalities and their health. These include as follows: introduction of untested technologies, of which the impact has not yet been scientifically proven; deterioration of writing, reading, speaking as well as other socially important skills, sight impairments, computer addiction and IAD, which can generally lead to the development of the so-called 'digital dementia'. It should be noted that not enough research on the impact of digital technologies on the mental and physical health of children is available at the moment. Nor are there many scientific investigations concerning the safety and effectiveness of learning by means of digital environment. The introduction of digital technologies raises concerns about their impact on pupils’ health and on society as a whole; there are discussions about the role of teachers in the educational process as well.
