Sedentary lifestyle is not only a risk factor for non communicable diseases but it also causes several mental and psychological disorders which negatively affect the academic performance of students. PURPOSE To determine the relationship between light physical activity and academic performance in university students STUDY DESIGN AND SAMPLE SIZE Observational study and it consists of 178 participants. METHOD Closed ended Questionnaires were distributed among all participants, then the data was entered in SPSS 16 software and results were analyzed RESULTS Pearson Chi- Square test was applied to determine the co-relation between physical activity and academic performance. Correlation between light physical activity and academic performance showed non-significant results (p =0.39). CONCLUSION Correlation found between both variables was non-significant. However, physical activity has various helpful effects on mood and other fatal diseases. Objective: In different parts of the world, Indonesia included, overweight and obese people are seen to have worse performance compared to their healthy counterparts. Although there were research that had been done to observe the relationship between overweight, obesity, and academic performance, the results obtained were still divided into significantly and non-significantly related. Methods: A cross-sectional study was done to 373 students from two different schools in South Jakarta on December 2017–January 2018. Data was obtained by measuring height and weight of the participant to get his/her nutritional status and the average of participant’s odd semester Continual Assessment and Semestral Assessment of Academic Year 2017/2018 to see if the result was higher or equal to the passing grade. Results: Data analysis with chi square test shows that there was no significant relationship between overweight, obesity, and academic performance (p = 0.452 for Indonesian Language and p = 0.476 for Mathematics) although overweight and obese students tend to have better performance in some exam. Conclusion: The events that lead to overweight, obesity, and one’s academic performance are all multifactorial that the relationship between the two is difficult to be determined.

The current study aimed to examine the association between music and motivation to do exercise among university students in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The demographics data, use of music during exercise, preferred type of music, and criteria to select music were assessed by a validated self-administered questionnaire. The motivation towards exercises was evaluated using the Behavioural Regulations in Exercise Questionnaire (BREQ-3) while the level of physical activity was assessed by Godin-Leisure Time Exercise Questionnaire (LTEQ). The demographics information, use of music during exercise, preferred type of music, and criteria to choose music were tabulated using descriptive statistics. A point-biserial correlation was used to analyze the relationship between music and motivation to do exercise while chi-square was utilized to determine the association between the use of music during exercise and physical activity level. The results of the current study showed that 80.3% of the participants listen to music during exercise. Energetic and rhythmic was the preferred type of music for exercise. Tempo/ speed/ bpm was the most popular factor to be considered during the exercise. Most of the participants prefer to listen to an individual music player during exercise rather than an open audio system.. Listening to music during exercise shown significant correlation with a motivation (p=0.006), external regulation (p=0.014), identified regulation (p=0.006), integrated regulation (p=0.002) and intrinsic regulation (p=0.015). There was a significant association between the use of music during exercise and physical activity level (p=0.003) in this study. Future research that involves the type of exercise performed with the music is encouraged to explore the significance of music as a motivational tool in exercise.

Abstract: This study addresses the relationship between two lifestyle factors that have a particular impact on the health of young people, as are the usual practice of leisure-time physical activity and alcohol consumption. Were assessed in 3329 subjects older than 15 years the consumption of alcohol and the usual amount of physical activity. We used a Pearson Chi-square test to estimate the significant differences between groups. The results show that adults have studied patterns of behavior similar to the rest of the Spanish population in relation to the intake of alcohol and practice of physical activity daily. Differences in the consumption of alcohol depending on the quantity of leisure-time physical activity.

AbstractIrritable bowel syndrome (IBS) belongs to functional gastrointestinal disorders and is characterized by abdominal pain and change in stool consistency and/or bowel habits. Etiological factors include gastrointestinal peristalsis disturbances, visceral hypersensitivity, chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane, dysbacteremia, intestinal infections, psychosomatic and nutritional factors. Gastrointestinal motility disturbances in case of IBS are manifested by the inhibition of the intestinal passage, which favors the development of constipation or occurrence of diarrhea.was to evaluate IBS symptoms and demonstrate the relationship between physical activity and place of residence amongst Warsaw University students. The study was conducted in march, 2014 using a specific questionnaire, amongst Warsaw University students. The study group comprised 120 female patients, aged between 19 and 27 years (M=23.43; SD=1.29). The chi-square test was used for analysis, p<0.05 was considered as statistically significant. The BMI of investigated patients ranged between 16.30-31.22 kg/mIBS symptoms are common amongst Warsaw University students. In case of respondents with low physical activity, abdominal pain or discomfort occurred more often. It has been demonstrated that diet and stress might contribute to the occurrence of abdominal symptoms, being evidence of IBS.

The sample in this study were 47 respondents. Data analysis using the Chi-square test on diet and using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test on physical activity. The results of the analysis of diet with obesity using the chi-square test obtained the value (p = 0.000) indicating that there was a significant relationship between diet and the incidence of obesity in housewives in Taccorong Village. Whereas physical activity analysis with obesity using Kolmogorov Smirnov test obtained values (p = 0.022) showed that there was a relationship of physical activity with the incidence of obesity in housewives in the Taccorong Village. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between diet and physical activity with the incidence of obesity in housewives in the Taccorong Village, Gantarang Subdistrict, Bulukumba District. It is recommended for housewives to behave in a healthy life by maintaining a good diet and regulating physical activity well in order to avoid various degenerative diseases due to complications from obesity.
