The diversity of languages used by santri (student) community can represent the existence of multi-ethnic and multilingual communities. The purpose of this study is to reveal the language choice in teaching and learning interactions between students and students with teachers in Al-Mukmin Ngruki Islamic Boarding School and Assalaam Modern Islamic Boarding School. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using the Sociolinguistics approach. Data collected used the method of observation, recording, and interviews. The data in this study was in the form of student speech in an Islamic boarding school. The data were analyzed using the Hymes ethnography communication method. The results of this study indicate that there are variations in the codes used by students, namely Indonesian, foreign languages, Javanese, and mixed languages in the form of code-switching and code-mixing from Javanese to Indonesian, and Javanese to English.

Keberagaman etnik dalam komunitas mahasiswa memunculkan suatu nuansa dan fenomena yang khas dan berbeda dalam penggunaan bahasa. Masyarakat multietnik cenderung menggunakan bahasa yang berbeda-beda ketika berkomunikasi dengan etnik satu dan etnik lainnya. Keberagaman etnik dan bahasa tersebut memungkinkan seseorang menjadi mampu menggunakan lebih dari satu bahasa. Komunikasi saat ini dapat dilakukan melalui berbagai media, salah satunya adalah media sosial. Banyak sekali media sosial yang dapat digunakan untuk berkomunikasi, seperti facebook, twitter, bbm (blackberry messenger), line, dan whatsapp. Penelitian dengan ancangan sosiolinguistik dan metode kualitatif deskriptif ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bahasa yang digunakan dalam komunitas mahasiswa multietnik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahasa yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa multietnik di Kota Semarang dalam media sosial adalah bahasa Indonesia, bahasa daerah, dan bahasa asing. Kemultietnikan mahasiswa dengan bahasa yang berbeda mengakibatkan penggunaan campur kode. Faktor penyebab penggunaan bahasa tertentu antarmahasiswa multietnik adalah stimulus atau inisiasi yang disampaikan oleh penutur pertama. Selain itu, faktor latar atau situasi bahasa tertentu digunakan, faktor penutur dan petutur yang melakukan percakapan, maksud dan tujuan yang diinginkan oleh penutur dan petutur, bentuk pesan dan isi pesan yang dipilih oleh penutur dan petutur turut memengaruhi bahasa yang digunakan. ABSTRACT The ethnical variety in the university student community has brought a unique phenomena and different nuance in their language use. The students in the multiethnic community tend to use various languages to communicate to each other. Those various ethnics and languages would encourage the member of the community to use more than one language. In the other hand, people could communicate nowadays through all sorts of media. One of them is social media. Some of the social medias such as facebook, tweeter, bbm (blackberry messenger), line, and whatsapp could be used as mean of communication. This research uses approach in sociolinguistics and qualitative-descriptive method. The aim of this research is describing the language use in students’ multiethnic community. The result shows that the language used in multiethnic students in Semarang in social media is Indonesian, local, and foreign languages. The students in different language multiethnic community used the code-mixing. The factor that causes a certain language use in multiethnic students is the stimulus or the initiation uttered by the fi rst speaker. The other factor such as setting or situation where a certain language used, speaker, and hearer that are involved in the conversation, form and contain of the message chosen by the speaker and the hearer, have also infl uence the language used.

This research is a qualitative descriptive study which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The population in this study were all undergraduate students of the Muhammadiyah University of Palopo for all the subjects taught by the author. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique which is only aimed at students who take courses that are taught by the author in several majors, one of which is the accounting department. The data in this study were obtained through a questionnaire that was filled out online by students using Google Form. The questionnaire used was adapted from the practical course service satisfaction questionnaire issued by the Center for Learning Development and Education Quality Assurance (P4MP) Bengkalis State Polytechnic, where the questionnaire consisted of three aspects of assessment namely (a) aspects of teaching and learning, (b) aspects of competence lecturers, and (c) infrastructure aspects. From the results of the analysis, the results obtained for the teaching and learning aspects of the majority (110 or as many as 68%) of students thought that online learning could be accessed well, besides the results of manual calculations using the Ms. application. Office Excel obtained an average result for the teaching and learning aspects of 3.28

ABSTRACT This study examines strategies to increase the collection of waqf through Islamic Da'wah activities. This is important to do, considering the Baitul Hidayah Islamic Boarding School has a large potential for waqf while the ongoing collection of waqf has not yet reached the expected target. This study aims to find a solution in the form of a strategy to increase the collection of waqf by utilizing da'wah activities as a way of socialization and promotion. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study, while the data sources are obtained directly in the field (field research). The research approach uses case studies with data collection techniques through interviews, documentation studies and field observations. The results of this study recommend strategies for increasing the collection of waqf through: (i) Optimizing the role of dai as a marketing of waqf. (ii) fulltime managing human resources. (iii) Improvement of Facilities and Infrastructure. (iv) Creating a creative collection program. (v) Standardization of Data Management. (vi) Improvement of convenience services and activity reports.Keywords: Collection, Waqf, Da'wah and Islamic boarding schools.   ABSTRAKPenelitian ini mengkaji tentang strategi peningkatan penghimpunan wakaf melalui kegiatan Dakwah Islam. Hal ini penting dilakukan, mengingat Pesantren Baitul Hidayah memiliki potensi wakaf yang cukup besar sementara penghimpunan wakaf yang berjalan belum mencapai target yang diharapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan solusi berupa strategi peningkatan penghimpunan wakaf dengan memanfaatkan kegiatan-kegiatan dakwah sebagai jalan sosialisasi dan promosi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, adapun sumber data diperoleh langsung di lapangan (field research). Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan studi kasus dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, studi dokumentasi dan observasi lapangan. Hasil penelitian merekomendasikan strategi peningkatan penghimpunan wakaf melalui : (i) Optimalisasi peran dai sebagai marketing wakaf. (ii) SDM pengelola fulltime. (iii) Peningkatan Sarana dan Prasarana. (iv) Menciptakan Program penghimpunan yang kreatif. (v) Standarisasi Pengelolaan Data. (vi) Peningkatan layanan kemudahan dan laporan kegiatan.Kata Kunci: Penghimpunan, Wakaf, Dakwah dan Pesantren.

Este artículo es producto de un estudio cualitativo-descriptivo que busca analizar los resultados de las observaciones docentes de los períodos académicos 2012b al 2014b, realizadas por el Departamento de Comunicación y Lenguaje de Unicatólica, y tomar decisiones sobre los aspectos a mejorar en el currículo del Área de Inglés, que impacten en la comunidad universitaria y sean replicables en otras universidades colombianas. Para ello, se utilizó la técnica de observación con docentes de inglés, con el fin de identificar y describir las principales dificultades y potencialidades para dirigir el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje.  Abstract This article is an outcome of a qualitative-descriptive study that seeks to analyze the results of teaching observations of the academic periods 2012b to 2014b, conducted by the Department of Communication and Language of Unicatólica, in order to make decisions to improve in the English subject curriculum, impacting the university community and other Colombian universities. For this purpose, an observation technique was used with English teachers, in order to identify and describe main difficulties and strengths to guide the teaching and learning process. Likewise, two categories of analysis were selected intentionally by the researchers: pedagogy and didactics; each one with their respective measurement indicators.

This research aims to describe the implementation of English Zone (EZo) activities in learning English speaking skills for young learners. Employing qualitative descriptive study, this research included observation of teaching and learning process, and interview that was administered to 10 students from Kampung Sawah, West Hadimulyo. Ten meetings were observed thoroughly. Each observation took place in English language classroom every Sunday at Al-Fatimah Mosque. This research presented the implementation of English Zone (EZo) to young learners and students’ responses to the implementation of EZo. The findings illuminated the powerful ways in which EZo was able to improve students’ speaking skill. The students were having fun in the classroom which made them actively participate IN speaking practice with their friends or teachers. The findings further highlighted that EZo showed a good result in improving students’ confidence during their speaking practice. EZo helped them to speak more and decreased hesitation. They felt more relaxed to speak.Keywords : English zone, speaking skill, young learners, activity

This study aimed to describe a form of code switching and code mixing specific form found in the teaching and learning activities in the classroom as well as determining factors influencing events stand out that form of code switching and code mixing in question.Form of this research is descriptive qualitative case study which took place in Al Mawaddah Boarding School Ponorogo. Based on the analysis and discussion that has been stated in the previous chapter that the form of code mixing and code switching learning activities in Al Mawaddah Boarding School is in between the use of either language Java language, Arabic, English and Indonesian, on the use of insertion of words, phrases, idioms, use of nouns, adjectives, clauses, and sentences. Code mixing deciding factor in the learning process include: Identification of the role, the desire to explain and interpret, sourced from the original language and its variations, is sourced from a foreign language. While deciding factor in the learning process of code, includes: speakers (O1), partners speakers (O2), the presence of a third person (O3), the topic of conversation, evoke a sense of humour, and just prestige. The significance of this study is to allow readers to see the use of language in a multilingual society, especially in AL Mawaddah boarding school about the rules and characteristics variation in the language of teaching and learning activities in the classroom. Furthermore, the results of this research will provide input to the ustadz / ustadzah and students in developing oral communication skills and the effectiveness of teaching and learning strategies in boarding schools.

This research was conducted to determine the code mixing patterns contained in the conversation between teachers and students on WhatsApp group class XII SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Andong. This research belongs to a qualitative descriptive study. The data used in the management of this research is in the form of writing, which is in the form of digital communication between teachers and students on the Whatsapp group media. The data sources of this research came from teachers and students of class XII SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Andong. The data were collected using listening techniques, tapping techniques, listening techniques without proficient involvement, and note taking techniques. The data analysis technique used is the BUL technique as the basic technique and the non-parafrasal form changing technique as a follow-up technique. The results of the analysis show that there are 3 type of code mixing with 9 patterns of mixing code in the speech. The code mix is divided into 2 patterns, namely Java-Indonesia-Java and Java-Indonesia-Java-Indonesia-Java-Indonesia. Mix code out is divided into 4 patterns, including: 1) Indonesian-English-Indonesian; 2) Javanese-English-Javanese; 3) English-Indonesian-English-Indonesian-English-Indonesian; 4) English-Javanese-English-Javanese. Meanwhile, mixed code mix was found in 3 patterns, including: 1) Indonesian-Javanese-English; 2) Indonesian-English-Javanese; and 3) Indonesian-English-Indonesian-Javanese.

This research sees the importance of the position of the Qur'an as the main source of Islamic education. One method that can be applied is the tarbawy interpretation method. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The author uses primary and secondary sources related to the object of study. The purpose of this study is to uncover educational experiments in the perspective of the Koran and their application in the al-Munawwarah Islamic boarding school in Pekanbaru. Based on the results of the research conducted, the authors found that the concepts of Al-Hikmah, Al-Mauizhah, and Al-Mujadalah have been applied in the learning process in the boarding school of al-Munawarah in the city of Pekanbaru. In the application of the Al-Hikmah Aspect, the application of indicators and words that are true and explicit are applied by the teacher. In the application of the Al-Mauizhah Aspect, the indicators of Advising, commenting on and resolving the subtle are supported by cases that violate ethics for students. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan karakteristik kebahasaan teks pidato mahasiswa yang berperan menjadi guru BP, dan (2) mendeskripsikan implementasi karakteristik kebahasaan teks pidato mahasiswa yang berperan menjadi guru BP sebagai bahan ajar bahasa Indonesia di SMP. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa kata, frasa, klausa, dan kalimat yang terdapat dalam pidato mahasiswa yang berperan menjadi guru BP. Sumber data penelitian berupa wacana pidato mahasiswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik simak dan catat. Untuk menganalisis data penelitian ini digunakan teknik padan referensial dan padan fonetis artikulatoris, teknik perluasan dalam metode agih, dan teknik baca markah. Adapun hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa karakteristik kebahasaan dalam teks pidato mahasiswa yang berperan menjadi guru BP  terdapat enam bidang, yakni (1) bidang ragam non-formal, (2) bidang sosiolinguistik yang meliputi campur kode dan alih kode, (3) bidang sintaksis terdiri dari pleonasme, konjungsi, dan kata mubadzir, (4) bidang fonologi meliputi kesalahan epentesis dan kesalahan pengucapan bunyi atau pelafalan bunyi, (5) bidang morfologi yang meliputi proses afiksasi prefiks me-, kata keterangan jumlah dan derajat, kata keterangan tempat, keterangan akibat (keterangan konsekuatif), kata depan pada dipakai jika diikuti kata keterangan waktu, dan penggunaan kata depan kepada, dan repetisi, dan (6) bidang pragmatik yaitu interjeksi. Kata kunci: Karakteristik kebahasaan, pidato, guru BP   Abstract This study aims (1) to describe the linguistic characteristics​​in the speeches of students who act as BP teachers and (2) to describethe implementation the linguistic characteristics ​​in the speeches of students who act as BP teachers. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences contained in student speeches which play the role of becoming BP teachers. The source of research data is in the form of student speech discourse. The data collection technique uses the technique to see and note. To analyze this research data used referential equivalent techniques and articulatory phonetics, extension techniques in the method of religion, and marking reading techniques. The results of this study found that the linguistic form ​​in the speeches of students who act as BP teachers. This research method uses a qualitative ​​in the speech of students acting as BP teachers had six fields, namely (1) non-formal variety fields, (2) sociolinguistic fields which included code mixing and code switching, (3) syntactic fields consisting of pleonasms, conjunctions, and the word mubadzir, (4) the field of phonology includes episodes of errors and pronunciation of sounds or pronunciation of sounds, (5) the field of morphology which includes the affixation process of the prefix, adverbs of number and degrees, place adverbs, statements of consequences (consequential information), the preposition used if followed by the adverb of time, and the use of the preposition for, and repetition, and (6) the field of pragmatics, namely interjection. <p class="ABSTRACT"><span lang="EN">This study discusses the development of extracurricular activities in Arabic at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, Paiton-Probolinggo, which includes: 1) Types of activities, 2) Planning activities, 3) Implementation of activities, and 4) Evaluating activities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The qualitative data in this study included extracurricular activities in Arabic. The data sources of this research are the core management and students in the LPBA. The instrument is the researcher himself (human instrument). Data collection was obtained through the results of distributing questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed a number of things, namely (1) twelve extracurricular activities attended by students at ula and wushta levels with the hope that students often get used to listening to hiwar or Arabic conversations from native Arabs, and can apply them in daily conversations. day (2) Planning activities consist of student organizations, curriculum, schedule arrangements, activity themes, and regulations, (3) This activity is carried out every night after teaching and learning activities (KBM) and Friday from morning to evening, and (4) Evaluation of this activity is carried out once a month with the aim of finding solutions to problems experienced by students.</span></p>
