Keberagaman etnik dalam komunitas mahasiswa memunculkan suatu nuansa dan fenomena yang khas dan berbeda dalam penggunaan bahasa. Masyarakat multietnik cenderung menggunakan bahasa yang berbeda-beda ketika berkomunikasi dengan etnik satu dan etnik lainnya. Keberagaman etnik dan bahasa tersebut memungkinkan seseorang menjadi mampu menggunakan lebih dari satu bahasa. Komunikasi saat ini dapat dilakukan melalui berbagai media, salah satunya adalah media sosial. Banyak sekali media sosial yang dapat digunakan untuk berkomunikasi, seperti facebook, twitter, bbm (blackberry messenger), line, dan whatsapp. Penelitian dengan ancangan sosiolinguistik dan metode kualitatif deskriptif ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bahasa yang digunakan dalam komunitas mahasiswa multietnik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahasa yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa multietnik di Kota Semarang dalam media sosial adalah bahasa Indonesia, bahasa daerah, dan bahasa asing. Kemultietnikan mahasiswa dengan bahasa yang berbeda mengakibatkan penggunaan campur kode. Faktor penyebab penggunaan bahasa tertentu antarmahasiswa multietnik adalah stimulus atau inisiasi yang disampaikan oleh penutur pertama. Selain itu, faktor latar atau situasi bahasa tertentu digunakan, faktor penutur dan petutur yang melakukan percakapan, maksud dan tujuan yang diinginkan oleh penutur dan petutur, bentuk pesan dan isi pesan yang dipilih oleh penutur dan petutur turut memengaruhi bahasa yang digunakan. ABSTRACT The ethnical variety in the university student community has brought a unique phenomena and different nuance in their language use. The students in the multiethnic community tend to use various languages to communicate to each other. Those various ethnics and languages would encourage the member of the community to use more than one language. In the other hand, people could communicate nowadays through all sorts of media. One of them is social media. Some of the social medias such as facebook, tweeter, bbm (blackberry messenger), line, and whatsapp could be used as mean of communication. This research uses approach in sociolinguistics and qualitative-descriptive method. The aim of this research is describing the language use in students’ multiethnic community. The result shows that the language used in multiethnic students in Semarang in social media is Indonesian, local, and foreign languages. The students in different language multiethnic community used the code-mixing. The factor that causes a certain language use in multiethnic students is the stimulus or the initiation uttered by the fi rst speaker. The other factor such as setting or situation where a certain language used, speaker, and hearer that are involved in the conversation, form and contain of the message chosen by the speaker and the hearer, have also infl uence the language used.

Skills and competencies are highly regarded in todays global market. Different agencies specifically those seeking for  technologists, technicians, and engineers, have stressed out that skills and competencies as major components  for individual workers.  This aimed to determine  the relevance and appropriateness of acquired skills and competencies by industrial technology graduates, and determine the extent of use of skills and competencies in the current employment. Review of related literatures and studies have been considered in the realization, understanding, analysis, and interpretation of this research exploration. A descriptive method of research was used with 78 graduates from 2015-2016 and 117 graduates from 2016-2017, who participated in the study survey process. The BatStateU Standardized Questionnaire was used to gather data. A brief interview and talk during the visit of alumni in the university was also considered, as well as the other means of social media like email, facebook, messenger, and text messaging.   Results show that skills and competecnices acquired by industrial technology graduates are all relevant and appropriate.  The study also found that there is some to great extent use of acquired skills and competencies to their current employment. The study implies that the acquired skills and competencies from the university significantly provided the graduates the opportunities ins the national and global markets and industries.

Article aimed at exploring the connection between meme in social media and public opinion representation. Object examined in this study was the meme about the social condition in Bekasi. A qualitative descriptive method was applied to analyze issues that are expressed by meme about Bekasi and the motivation of distributing them in social media. The result shows that opinion expressed in meme could carry more than one issues, such as distance, bad traffic, extreme hot temperature, and damaged roads. The motivation of using meme is because it is funny, easily understood, and more likely to get a response. The result also shows that responding to a meme by retweeting or repathing do not necessarily mean agreement with the issues.

Language is a tool to communicate or disclose a case both orally and in writing. In the era of globalization, social media is growing very rapidly, one of the popular social media, especially in Indonesia is Instagram. People competing to present a unique and interesting content. The use of written language also varied one of them to express themselves about the state and activity of the account owner can attract the attention of warganet in the other sense of language as a tool of self-expression. A large number of users to make content contained instagram diverse, the language used is also varied there is constructive some are destructive language itself. Expressive use of language in social media instagram has been observed in this study. Questions that will be answered in this study is how often use expressive language that writing does not correspond Indonesian rule in badmintalk_com account. Research was conducted on some of the content uploaded by Badmintalk accountt. The first stage in this research is to collect data, and then analyzed using qualitative descriptive method. In the final stage, the conclusions are based on analysis of the data that is on the uploads that have been using the phrase expressive writing is not appropriate Indonesian rule and has almost the same error on any uploaded content.

The diversity of languages used by santri (student) community can represent the existence of multi-ethnic and multilingual communities. The purpose of this study is to reveal the language choice in teaching and learning interactions between students and students with teachers in Al-Mukmin Ngruki Islamic Boarding School and Assalaam Modern Islamic Boarding School. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using the Sociolinguistics approach. Data collected used the method of observation, recording, and interviews. The data in this study was in the form of student speech in an Islamic boarding school. The data were analyzed using the Hymes ethnography communication method. The results of this study indicate that there are variations in the codes used by students, namely Indonesian, foreign languages, Javanese, and mixed languages in the form of code-switching and code-mixing from Javanese to Indonesian, and Javanese to English.

This study aims to describe the form of assertiveness, speech continuity strategies, and social distancing scales in the discourse of the 2019’s presidential candidacy on social media (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook). This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are in the form of words, phrases, and sentences that contain assertiveness. The data sources in this study are Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Data collection used in this study is a note-taking method. The data analysis carried out in this study were the intralingual matching method, the PUP primary technique matching method, and the HBS advanced technique. The results of this study found that 1) the form of assertiveness in the discourse of the 2019’s presidential candidacy on social media, namely (a) the force to express a desire,(b) the force to brag about hatred, (c) the force to enhance politeness, (d) the force to report field facts, (e) the force to urge Pn's goals, (f) the force to raise complaints, and (g) the force to announce the agenda.2) continuity strategies in the form of (a) direct speech strategies and (b) indirect speech strategies. 3) the social distance scale contained in this study is (a) long-hedged speech and (b) short-hedged speech.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah, 1) mendeskripsi bentuk pelanggaran tindak pengancaman muka positif, 2) mendeskripsi tindak pengancaman muka negatif pada tuturan teks media sosial berdasarkan teori Brown dan Levinson, 3) mendeskripsi strategi kesantunan dalam tuturan pada teks media sosial. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tuturan teks media sosial facebook dan twitter tahun 2018. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik catat. Tindak pengancaman muka positif pada teks media sosial facebook terdapat tiga subbidal, yaitu 1) ungkapan ketidaksetujuan, 2) ungkapan emosi, 3) ungkapan yang tidak sopan. Tindak pengancaman muka negatif pada teks media sosial facebook terdapat dua subbidal, yaitu 1) ungkapan peringatan, dan 2) ungkapan perasaan negatif. Tindak pengancaman muka positif pada teks media sosial twitter terdapat lima subbidal, 1) ungkapan ketidaksetujuan, 2) ungkapan emosi, 3) ungkapan yang tidak sopan, 4) ungkapan yang tidak kooperatif, dan 5) ungkapan yang menunjukan sebutan 2 data. Tindak pengancaman muka negatif pada teks media sosial twitter terdapat dua subbidal, yaitu 1) ungkapan peringatan, dan 2) ungkapan perasaan negatif. Strategi ketidaksantunan pada teks media sosial facebook dan twitter terdapat empat subbidal, yaitu 1) strategi tanpa basa-basi, 2) strategi kesantunan postif, 3) strategi kesantunan negatif, dan 4) strategi kesantunan tidak langsung. The purpose of this study is, 1) to describe the form of violation of positive face-threatening action and negative face-to-face on social media text texts based on Brown and Levinson's theory; 2) to describe the politeness strategy in speech on social media texts. This research was conducted on social media text texts facebook and twitter in 2018. The method used is qualitative descriptive method. Technique of collecting data using technique note. There are four subbidal faces in facebook text media, namely 1) expression of disapproval, 2) emotional expression, 3) impolite expression. Adverse action on facebook social media text there are two subbidal, namely 1) warning expression, and 2) expression of negative feelings. There are five subbidials, 1) expression of non- negative on the text of social media twitter there are two subbidal, that is 1) warning expression, and 2) expression of negative feelings. Strategy is generally done to reduce the threat to the self-image of the speaker, respect it and to reduce the threat. The politeness strategy on the social media text facebook and twitter there are four subbidal, that is 1) the strategy of no-nonsense, 2) the positive politeness strategy, 3) the strategy negative politeness, and 4) indirect indirection strategy.

Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk kesalahan berbahasa pada komentar di media sosial Twitter yang diunggah pada tahun 2021. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa kata, frasa, klausa, dan kalimat yang terdapat dalam ruang percakapan milik @omarabdr_. Sumber data yang digunakan yaitu status dan komentar pada media sosial Twitter. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca dan catat. Analisis data menggunakan metode padan dengan teknik hubung-banding menyamakan (HBS) dan hubung-banding membedakan (HBB). Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kesalahan berbahasa pada komentar di media sosial Twitter berupa (1) bidang kesalahan fonologi yang meliputi kesalahan huruf kapital berjumlah 10, kesalahan penggunaan fonem berjumlah 7, dan kesalahan penggunaan ejaan berjumlah 10; (2) bidang kesalahan morfologi yang meliputi kesalahan kata ulang berjumlah 8 dan penggunaan afiks berjumlah 3; (3) bidang kesalahan sosiolinguistik yang berupa campur kode dan alih kode berjumlah 10. Abstract: This article aims to identification the form of language errors in comments on Twitter as social media uploaded in 2021. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research data is in the form of word, phrases, clauses, and sentences contained in @omarabdr_’s conversation space. Sources of data used are status and comments on Twitter. Data collection techniques used reading and note-taking techniques. Analysis of the data using the matching method with the comparison-matching technique and the comparison-differentiating technique.  The results of this research found that language errors in comments on Twitter, namely (1) phonological error fields which include 10 capital letter errors, 7 phoneme usage errors, and 10 spelling errors; (2) morphological errors which includes rephrasing errors totaling 8 and the use of affixes totaling 3; (3) sosiolinguistic errors in the form of code mixing and code switching are 10.

There are numerous studies of linguistics landscape or study of texts in public spaces. However, study on the culinary sign is still rare in Indonesia. Thus, this paper explores the linguistics landscape of culinary signs around campus in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, the melting pot of cultures and languages. The research aims to analyze the form of language use and its function. The data collection is photographing culinary signs around three advanced campuses in Malang, namely the University of Brawijaya, State University of Malang, and the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Qualitative descriptive was used in analyzing the data. The results showed that Indonesian, English, and Javanese are the most frequent languages used in culinary banners or storefronts and other foreign languages (Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Malay) and vernaculars (Sundanese, Banjarese, Minangnese). It was found that the Malang culinary linguistics mirrored the taste and service of the store. Furthermore, foreign languages are becoming a way to go global and known by college students who most like modernization. The use of Javanese also acts as a symbol of maintaining the cultural heritage of Javanese people.

Code mixing is a state of language use by speakers by mixing two (or more) languages in one speech without any cause for the mixture of languages. One of these codes mixes in the communication process of Thai University students at Jember when using Indonesian. Code interfering events occur when used as communication tools and adaptation tools, interact daily and in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method using a sociolinguistic approach. The data in this study are Thai student speeches when using Indonesian. The results showed that mixed code was found when Thai students used Indonesian. From the results of the study found three mixed codes: 1) mixed word code, 2) mixed code form phrases, and mixed code form clauses. The code interfering factors include: 1) regional sense factors, 2) financial factors to explain and interpret, 3) factors in the absence of concepts or terms in Indonesian, and 4) factors of limitations in mastering Indonesian.

Sosiolinguistik memberikan pengetahuan tentang code switching (campur kode). Analisis teks novel untuk memahami penggunaan campur kode penutur dapat dilaksanakan untuk pengembangan ilmu sosiologi bahasa. Metode deskriptif kualitatif dalam menganalisis temuan dan mengklasifikasikan pencampuran kode dari Novel Andre Herata Sang Pemimpi. Analisis data berfokus pada kalimat dan paragraf yang menunjukkan penggunaan pencampuran kode di dalamnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada satu jenis pencampuran kode yang ditemukan dalam novel Sang Pemimpi yaitu pencampuran kode luar (bahasa Indonesia dan Inggris) yang kemunculannya ada dalam bentuk kata, frasa, dan penyisipan klausa. Penggunaan dan jenis-jenis pencampuran kode yang ada dalam novel Sang Pemimpi karya Andrea Hirata meyangkut pencampuran kode; pada pencampuran berbagai unit linguistik, seperti morfem, kata-kata, pengubah, frasa, klausa dan kalimat, terutama yang berasal dari dua sistem tata bahasa yang berpartisipasi dalam sebuah kalimat. Dapat disimpulkan narator menggunakan pencampuran kode dari Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, dan pencampuran kode luar dari Bahasa Inggris; punchbag, sprinter, fan, session, speaker, shock, slide dan Bahasa Arab. Abstract. Sociolinguistics gave knowledge of the switching codes. Text analysis of novels for understanding the interdiction of interpreting codes can be performed for the development of language sociology. The qualitative descriptive method of analyzing the find and classifying the code mixing of the novel Andre herata Sang pemimpi. Data analysis focuses on sentences and paragraphs that indicate the use of a code mixing in them. Studies have shown that one type of mixing code found in the Sang pemimpi novel is that it includes a mixture of outside codes (Indonesian and English) that appears in the form of words, phrases, and insertion of klausa. The use and kinds of coded blending in the book of Sang pemimpi Andrea hirata passes the mixing of codes; In the mixing of various linguistic units, such as morpheme, words, modifiers, phrases, clauses and sentences, especially those that come from the two grammatical systems that participate in a sentence. It could be inferred that the narrator used a code mixing from Indonesian, Malay, and a proprietary blend of English; punchbag, sprinter, fan, session, speaker, shock, slide dan Arabic.
