Pig breeding is one of the key areas for the development of livestock meat production both in Russia and in the world. According to forecasts of various agro-industrial companies and information and analytical agencies, by the end of 2020, pork production was predicted to grow similar to that in 2019, which was 5,1% (or more than 192,6 thousand tons, in slaughter weight, compared to 2018). This would represent more than a third of the total meat production in Russia, which was estimated at 11,04–11,22 million tons (as compared to 10,9 million tons in 2019). According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation (dated February 4, 2021), pork production increased "at 8.9% by 2019, which in live weight is +446 thousand tons", while the total meat production in Russia in 2020 reached 15,6 million tons, an increase of 3,1% (+472 thousand tons) more than in 2019. These indicators significantly exceed the forecasts indicated above, which is associated with the implementation of investment projects (primarily with state participation) in this direction and "expansion of export opportunities for Russian suppliers" in 2020. Despite the sanctions, coronavirus and other global challenges to the Russian economy, pork has been the "main driver" for the growth of meat production in Russia in recent years. Now our country is on the 4th line in the ranking according to the pig numbers (46.5 million heads in 2019) after China, the European Union and the United States of America. Agricultural enterprises in Russia account for 83,4% of pigs, 14,6% – on personal subsidiary plots, 2,0% – on farms. According to experts, the long-term development trend is an increase in the number of pigs in 5 years by 27,7%, in 10 years – by 36,1%, and the annual increase in pork production is planned at about 5%. Thus, in recent years, pork production has determined a positive trend in all domestic livestock farming in terms of the volume and quality of meat produced in Russia.

Antimicrobial use in animal agriculture is often perceived to play a role in the emerging threat of antimicrobial resistance. Increased consumer awareness of this issue places pressure on animal husbandry to adopt policies to reduce or eliminate antimicrobial use. We use a scoping review methodology to assess research on consumer perceptions of antimicrobial drugs in meat products in the United States, Canada, or the European Union. Evaluating peer-reviewed and grey literature, we included studies for assessment if they met these topical and geographic requirements, involved primary data collection, and were originally published in English. Our screening process identified 124 relevant studies. Three reviewers jointly developed a data charting form and independently charted the contents of the studies. Of the 105 studies that measured consumer concern, 77.1% found that consumers were concerned about antimicrobial use in meat production. A minority of studies (29.8% of all studies) queried why consumers hold these views. These studies found human health and animal welfare were the main reasons for concern. Antimicrobial resistance rarely registered as an explicit reason for concern. A smaller group of studies (23.3%) measured the personal characteristics of consumers that expressed concern about antimicrobials. Among these studies, the most common and consistent features of these consumers were gender, age, income, and education. Regarding the methodology used, studies tended to be dominated by either willingness-to-pay studies or Likert scale questionnaires (73.64% of all studies). We recommend consideration of qualitative research into consumer views on this topic, which may provide new perspectives that explain consumer decision-making and mentality that are lacking in the literature. In addition, more research into the difference between what consumers claim is of concern and their ultimate purchasing decisions would be especially valuable.

The buffalo and cattle population in Egypt reached about 4.898,893 and 3,476,396 heads, respectively, in 2019. The buffalo and cattle meat production represented around 43% and 45% of the total meat production in Egypt, respectively, and the average carcass weight of buffalo and cattle reached 318 kg and 336Kg in 2019. About 50% of livestock numbers are slaughtered off-slaughter houses due to a shortage in the capacity of slaughterhouses and other financial and administrative reasons. The conducted field survey of this study showed that the majority of Egyptian livestock markets lack live weight scales, and if available, they are expensive and frightening for the animals. Therefore, numerous feedlot enterprises hire an agent who can visually forecast the expected live weight of the exhibited feeder calves for sale in the market at a high charge. Most of the models to predict the weight of live cattle-bulls knowing the chest circumference were lacking such models for buffalo-bulls and were linear models that fit only limited periods of cattle-fattening. The sample survey included 500 buffalo males and 340 cattle males of different live weights from 14 villages in 4 provinces in the Nile Delta. The data were used to estimate the best-fitted model for Egyptian livestock. This study showed that the best-fitted model was curved linear. It was a quadratic form. For empirical application, the study designed a table to predict the live weight of buffalo and cattle males at a range of 100-200 cm chest circumference. The results showed that a 1% increase in the chest circumference was associated with a 2.4% and 2.8% increase in the buffalo and cattle male's circumference, which implicitly reflects higher live weight gain of cattle than buffalo males and better meat quality. Therefore, the farm price of cattle feeder males surpassed the buffalo by $1000.

Beef meat, in Belgium, is produced mainly from growing fattening bulls (38%) and culled cows from both dairy and beef breeds (38%). Meat from steers and veal calves is a smaller proportion (24%) of the total meat. Most of the beef meat is produced by specialized farmers in commercial units of large size with hundreds of animals slaughtered per year. The remaining production is done, at little scale, by some of the breeders. The success of beef production is associated with different factors such as genetic, housing conditions, diet and management. Nearly all the bulls which are slaughtered are from the Belgian Blue breed double muscled type. Belgian Blue is a breed of large size selected for meat production. The mam characteristics are high live weight gain, low feed conversion ratio, high dressing percentage and lean carcass (Hanset et al., 1989; Istasse et al., 1990).

In order to improve the livestock industry, and push up it to the world level making full use of the biological features of animals it is necessary to radically improve the system of breeding work with the species selection and the best combinations to obtain the fattening of young animals, in the implementation of this task special emphasis on the pig as the most precocious and technologically advanced livestock industry. The advantage of pork production is evidenced by the economic assessment of meat production of diff erent types of animals according to the level of individual costs for the nutrients of the product. It is no coincidence that the growth rate of pork production in the world in recent years exceeds the growth rate of beef and poultry. The purpose of the work was to assess the reproductive traits of crossbred sows obtained from various dreeding boars of Landrace breed (1st paternal breed) and mated with breeding boar of Duroc breed (2nd paternal breed) during three-breed industrial crossbreeding. The research has been carried out on the basis of LLC “Agrofi rma Ariant” in the Chelyabinsk region. It has been found that among the analyzed crossbreds the highest reproductive abilities were distinguished by sows obtained from the breeding boar No. 62143 their prolifi cacy was 13,5 heads live piglets, and the live weight of 1 piglet at birth was 1448,07 g, which exceeded the indicators of sows daughters of breeding boar No. 620001 by 1,4 piglets, and 17,9 g, respectively. Approximately the same number of female pigs has been obtained in both study groups. The number of young boars from sows of breeding boar No. 62143 was by 1,3 head more. Thus, in order to increase the profi tability of pork production in LLC “Agrofi rma Ariant” it is necessary to increase the volume of use of sperm of breeding boar No. 62143 of Landrace breed

Relevance of research. Existence of global financial crises points to the fact that in the world there is no perfect banking system and therefore the efficiency of the banking system requires a detailed study, including major performance indicators. The aim of the study is to summarize and characterize the existing trends of banking system evolution in the European Union. Methodological basis of the study – is based on the analysis of the study of the dynamics of such indicators as the number of banking institutions, the volume of assets and liabilities, asset quality, as well as the profitability of the banking sector of the European Union. A systematic analysis of the quantitative and qualitative composition of the above-mentioned banking indicators, synthesis and generalization were used to generalize and formulate conclusions. Scientific results. This article is devoted to the study of the dynamics of the main indicators of the European banking system during the period from 2000 to 2019 inclusive. It is argued that the number of commercial banks has decreased over the last decade, including in the European Union. Bank branches are no exception, the negative dynamics of the number of which was followed by the global financial crisis of 2008-2009. At the same time, it was found that the volume of bank assets shows a positive trend. Regarding the geographical distribution of assets, in 2019 the leading position was taken by France, Germany, Italy and Spain. At the same time, the volumes of liabilities of the financial sector of the European Union for the studied period also show a positive trend. The structure of loans is characterized and it is emphasized that the vast majority of loans are issued to non-financial corporations and households, which is an evidence of the business orientation of banks to provide loans to the real sector of the economy. It has been established that one of the key problems facing European banks is profitability, which today still could be on a better level than in 2007, the year of the financial surge. This situation distances European banks from competitors in the United States, which have shown positive dynamics of their profits. However, it is encouraging that the quality of assets of the European Union banks has significantly improved over the last 4 years. The practical significance of the study is to rate the strengths and weaknesses of the European banking system. Significance/originality. The results achieved from an integrated view of the functioning of the banking system of the European Union, which will allow the authors to further build a model for verifying the stability of the banking system.

The aim of this study was a survey of the estimated costs of soil erosion, an issue of fundamental importance in view of the current worldwide discussions on sustainability. A list was drawn up of research papers on erosion (on-site and off-site effects) and their respective costs. The estimates indicate the amount of resources spent in the process of soil degradation, raising a general awareness of the need for soil conservation. On-site costs affect the production units directly, while off-site costs create a burden borne by the environment, economy and society. In addition, estimating the costs of soil erosion should be effective to alert the agricultural producers, society and government for the need for measures that can be implemented to bring erosion under control. Among the various estimates of soil erosion costs between 1933 a 2010, the highest figure was 45.5 billion dollars a year for the European Union. In the United States, the highest figure was 44 billion dollars a year. In Brazil, estimates for the state of Paraná indicate a value of 242 million dollars a year, and for the state of São Paulo, 212 million dollars a year. These figures show, above all, that conservation measures must be implemented if crop and livestock farming production are to be sustainable.

This paper summarizes the arguments and counterarguments within the scientific discussion on the insurance market issue. The research’s primary purpose is to identify critical vectors and trends inherent in the modern insurance market. Systematization of literary sources and approaches for solving the problem of development and formation of the current insurance market indicates that it is necessary to use the best countries’ experience, adapting it to the domestic market. This concerns the issues of targeted financing of investment projects, the creation of funds to support policyholders’ protection, tax benefits for long-term insurance instruments, the possibility of opening a foreign insurance market for insurance institutions. The relevance of the decision of this scientific problem caused by the lack of standard definition of the concept of insurance by the academic community drives limited ability to assess the impact of insurance on social and economic aspects of society. Investigation of the topic of theoretical principles of insurance in the paper is carried out in the following logical sequence: analysis of the relationship between different types of insurance, analysis of publication activity in terms of years, countries, subject industries; research of keywords that occur when considering the topic of insurance. The research methods’ methodological tools were analytical tools of the Scopus database and VOSviewer software years of research 1832 – 2021. According to the international Scopus database results, the object of study is the chosen countries, regions, and universities. The paper presents empirical bibliographic analysis results, which showed that today the vast majority of research is conducted by experts from the United States and the European Union. Still, many Asian countries (China, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand), which demonstrate rapid economic development, are beginning to take a leading position among insurance research gradually. The research empirically confirms and theoretically proves that the insurance market is an integral and important part of the financial sector as a whole. The results of the research can be useful for further scientific work.
