ABSTRACTThe mass media and multitasking (Piscitelli, 2009) society requires from the manager to consider the relationship and impact of what his brand communicates. The design of online communicative strategies and their link to consultancy models (Pfefferman, 2011) – where the manager himself becomes the entrepreneur of his own organization — becomes the strength of the branding communication of the organization (Capriotti, P., 2009). The paper exposes the research findings obtained from the study done with small and medium enterprisess (SMEs) in Medellin and Bogotá (Colombia). This qualitative research examines the organizations capabilities toward the appropriation of opportunities on behalf of digital communication. Finally it makes a consultancy proposal addressed to pymes entrepreneurs from the perspective which considers the “Enterprise as a sign and as a semiosis”. It is claimed that if something is not communicated it will not generate any reminder at the level of the client. The results research -which compiles Medellin and Bogotá data- are published upon two products: A book to the organizational communication field, and a multimedia guide to business owners.

- In this paper we discuss the results of a research program that was aimed at analysing of the situational context in which the interpersonal exchange has place the role in mediating the passage from the reception to the "use" of mass-media preventive information. The study consisted in 32 focus groups with young people (18-25 years old), on different topics related to health risks (HIV/AIDS, Alcool, smoking, light drugs), in 4 different situational contexts (face-to-face; on-line forum; on-line chat; on-line forum+chat). The study main evidences show that the different contexts of the exchange specifically influence the interpersonal "re-use" of mass-media preventive information. In particular the forum+chat seems to be the context that best orients the preventive message elaboration in the sense of a personal revision of one own's unsafe practices.Key words: health communication; social exchange; context of the exchange; Internet; qualitative research; focus groupParole chiave: comunicazione alla salute; scambio sociale; contesto di scambio; Internet; ricerca qualitativa; focus group

The increase in student enrolment and the need  to cater to students of diverse backgrounds have led to the adoption of blended learning in many higher learning institutions. Blended learning, which allows both face to face interaction and on-line delivery, has been adopted into many curricula. One such institution is University Technology MARA which is slowly introducing features of blended learning in its course syllabus beginning with practice to online assessments. However, to ensure successful implementation of blended learning as part of the curricula, there are several aspects for consideration such as learner and teacher readiness for blended learning. This paper examines issues regarding the use of blended learning as a delivery method at UiTM Kedah . The discussion in this paper focuses on learner’ readiness and perceptions of the blended learning environment. The data collected for this study are responses from learners to a questionnaire survey. The research findings form the basis for recommendations for the development of learning and teaching practices using blended learning approaches to enhance learners' learning experiences.

Abstract The study was set to examine the differences between religion and religiosity and to explore how communities can be protected against religious violence. The study also intended to investigate the motives and the effect that religious violence has had throughout history. The study employed the qualitative research method whereby the researcher carried out a meta-analysis synthesis of different research findings to make conclusions and implications that could answer the study questions. Using the literature review they conducted, the researchers carried out data collection. As such, the researcher employed the bottom-up approach to identify the problem and the questions along with the investigation framework of what they decided to explore. The findings of the study revealed that religious backgrounds should be the cornerstone to realize the diff erence between religion and religiosity. Religion is of divine origin whereas religiosity is specifically a humanistic approach and a behavioral model. The religious violence phenomenon is formed by interlocking factors such as the interpretation of religious texts which clearly adopt thoughts and heritage full of violence camouflaged by religion. It is recommended that governments use a strong strategy employing the educational system, summits and dialogs to successfully overcome religious violence. The summits on religion should result in starting a dialog that ensures acceptance of the different religions.

This chapter considers the role, importance, and impact of public intellectualism on the future of qualitative research. The chapter argues that the move toward technology and the public dissemination of information via the internet requires a shift in how and what we research with an expressed intention of reaching a broader and nonacademic audience. The chapter considers the relationship between the private and public sphere, and the so-called “bastardization” of intellectualism to explain the role and rise of public intellectualism in qualitative research. By considering issues such as personal subjectivity, accountability, representation, and epistemological privilege, the chapter discusses how public contexts inform qualitative research and, conversely, how qualitative research can inform the public.
