The structure of competitiveness of managers in international trading companies includes motivational, adaptive mobility, emotional-volitional, communicative, and individual-psychological factors. Variables of each factor characterize leadership traits and determine the competitiveness of the individual. We proved that the leadership characteristics determining competitiveness on the motivational factor are manifested in the superiority of direct motives; according to the emotional and volitional factor – a high level of volitional self-control and perseverance; according to individual-psychological characteristics – a level of emotional balance, communicativeness and a low level of depression and neurotic spontaneity.

The article considers legal awareness as a subjective perception of legal phenomena by citizens. It is assumed that there is an individual predisposition towards law-conscious behavior. In a sample of 2011 subjects, employees of state bodies, the dependence of legal awareness on the personal characteristics of employees performing duties in the field of legal relations was studied. Legal awareness correlates with the activities of civil servants indirectly through a system of real legal actions and does not always coincide with labor productivity (action - attitude). The study of justice was carried out using the test of L.A. Yasyukova. Individual psychological characteristics were identified through the use of intelligent techniques, the modification of MMPI, the locus of control, the test of volitional self-control and the motivational profile of Ritchie-Martin. To assess the success (effectiveness) of the staff professional activities, an expert assessment was performed. It was revealed that legal consciousness has a specification and depends on the type of activity of public officers. Relations can be traced within the entire volume of personal characteristics. The article provides data on the correlation of legal consciousness and individual psychological characteristics of public service employees in the verbal and cogitative, characterological and motivational spheres.

The article actualizes the problem of the features of volitional self-regulation of girls studying in the specialties of secondary professional education in the context of distance learning. The purpose of the article is to study the psychological characteristics of volitional self-regulation in students in conditions of distance learning using information technologies. Methodology. Methods of empirical research of psychological characteristics of volitional self-regulation of personality, statistical and comparative methods of analysis were used in the work. The study of the problem of volitional self-regulation of the personality allows to solve the problems of correcting the psycho-functional structure of the personality on the basis of which students build an algorithm for the upcoming information, technical and educational activities. In the context of distance learning, volitional self-regulation becomes a decisive condition for the successful mastering of knowledge in solving educational problems and improving professional skills. The results of the study show that most of the students in the specialties of secondary professional education consciously relate to the distance learning mode, show persistence, active independent initiative in mastering the educational material. A low level of volitional self-regulation, self-control, psychological activity and reflection of students causes a decrease in working capacity, does not ensure the sustainability of interest in educational activities, interferes with the implementation of educational tasks, makes it difficult to independently control personal motives for learning, coordinate their actions in accordance with changing conditions. Conclusion. It was revealed that students in the process of adaptation to the conditions of distance learning, depending on the individual, psychophysiological characteristics of the body, use the possibilities of changing the level of volitional self-regulation and psychological activity, which allows them, first of all, to maintain the mental state of emotional comfort, reduce the level of psycho-emotional stress and respond adequately to new learning conditions.

The article deals with the theoretical and methodological basis of the study of coping strategies in the student age. It is noted that the importance of coping behavior is to solve the following important tasks in stressful situations: to find the meaning of the situation, to confront the stressor, to maintain relations with those who could be a potential helper in solving the crisis, to maintain emotional balance, to maintain the image of self, social identity and self-belief. Emphasis is placed on the following coping behavior strategies: solving a problem, managing one’s emotions, avoiding a stressful situation. It is noted that the most responsive strategy is to solve the problem. The assumption is made that there is a relationship between the psychological characteristics of the personality structure and the person’s choice of a strategy for behavior in the stress. Such characteristics can be features of thinking (criticality and flexibility), organizational and communication skills, personal readiness to act in situations of uncertainty, readiness to resolve conflicts. It is argued that the choice of coping strategies and their implementation are filled with age-related psychological personality traits. Respectively, in the student-age determinants of coping behavior may be specific internal characteristics of the individual, which are important for the purposeful learning of students adaptive, effective coping. An empirical study of psychological determinants of coping strategies in a student environment is highlighted.

PurposeThe wide literature about healthy behaviours posits that a high level of self-control is required in order to make healthy choices. This work intends to demonstrate that retailers, through the management of in-store marketing levers, can influence shopping behaviour, no matter which is the individual tendency to engage in cognitive behaviours. For this specific purpose, we have considered participants' “Need for Cognition” as a proxy of self-control.Design/methodology/approachWith reference to a specific category (cookies), we created a new display based on benefits (healthy eating) rather than products' attributes. A pre-test was conducted before the main experiment in order to assess the potential ability of the new nutritional display to help customers selecting healthier products, by testing participants' awareness and comprehension of the stimuli proposed. Then, an online between-subjects experiment was conducted by simulating the shoppers' expedition in the cookies' aisle inside a store with the aim to demonstrate that healthy choices can be also made on impulse.FindingsOur findings showed that when both communication and visual cues are provided, people low in need for cognition (NFC) are more willing to select healthy products from the shelf, compared with people high in NFC.Originality/valueWhile there is a wide literature explaining the mechanisms supporting healthy choices, fewer are the contributions about the role of retailers in promoting healthy eating through in-store marketing levers. More important, there is no contribution about how to promote health among people with low level of self-control.

We reveal the difficulties in the development of creative thinking, which meet students with a focus on the prevalence of one of the indicators in a particular pair. We present the factor analysis results of the obtained data carried out by principal component analysis with the construction of the correlation matrix and subsequent orthogonal rotation. Correlation analysis showed that the students' scale of creativity correlates with such indicators as imagination, creative thinking, activity – passivity, domination – submission, manifestation – avoidance of guilt, extroversion – introversion, credulity – suspicion, curiosity – conservatism, curiosity – realism, activity component. On the basis of theoretical analysis of the scientific psychological literature, the article defines the phenomenon of the boundary in determining the innovative potential of the personality, The author identifies that the qualitative originality of the boundary phenomenon demonstration in determining a high level of the innovative potential of the personality is associated with such individual psychological characteristics as value orientations, creativity, temporary competence, desire for self-actualization, need for cognition, spontaneity. The single direct link to synergy is made at the low level of IPP. The «boundary» allocation at the high and low levels of IPP allows to differentiate the groups of relationships of the certain personal qualities and indicators of the personal innovative potential. By characterizing the existence of the close statistically significant links between the individual and personal characteristics of respondents with an integral indicator of the innovative potential of the personality, it is made possible to compile a psychological portrait of the innovator. The art of defining the «boundary» becomes actual by establishing the interrelationships of these individual psychological characteristics with the features of the manifestation of the innovative potential of the personality.
