ABSTRACTBackground: Cardiac arrest is a health problem that is increasing to be the leading cause of death in the world. The main action to save cardiac arrest aims to maintain optimal myocardial and cerebral oxygenation so that death does not occur. Providing Basic Life Support (BLS) is an effort to save and restore this function. Knowledge about cardiac arrest among health students is still a neglected problem due to a lack of awareness in seeking basic knowledge. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of basic life support-based simulation training on knowledge of nursing students in the city of Bengkulu. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design with a pre-test post-test approach. The population in this study were all 61 students of the fourth semester of STIKES Tri Mandiri Sakti Bengkulu nursing students. Samples were taken using total sampling technique. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire containing 10 question items which were adopted from the questionnaire Yunanto et al., (2017). Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test.Result: Based on the results of the study, it was found that there was a significant effect of BLS training based on manikin simulation on nursing student knowledge with a value of t test = -15.169, p = value = 0.000 <α = 0.05.Conclusion: Nursing students need to provide knowledge about BLS from the start so that they are more confident and able to apply it in case of cardiac arrest outside the hospital. Higher education institutions should provide health education about BLS from the beginning of the academic year, so that in the following semester students are better able to improve the quality of the skills they have formed. Keywords: Basic Life Support, Knowledge, Simulation.

Background: Nursing student often experience anxiety and lack of motivation during their training program particularly during examination, and this may affect the achievement of learning outcomes. Teaching methods that might increase motivation and potentially increase learning outcomes have been developed, including video simulation and online learning. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of integrating video simulation into online learning on students’ motivation, anxiety level and competence. Methods: A pre-test/post-test one group design was utilized. Two video simulations containing nursing skills were integrated into the e-learning system which can be accessed for three weeks by 76 respondents who took Basic Nursing course. The level of motivation and anxiety were measured before and after the intervention, while the competence was measured after the intervention. Results: The majority of students passed the skills examination. This study indicates a significant increase of students’ motivation after the intervention (p value < 0.001), but the level of anxiety among respondents increased. Aim: To assess the anxiety levels in nurses and to find out the effectiveness of training provided to the nurses regarding information on COVID-19. Materials and Methods: This experimental study was conducted in the Department of Community Medicine of a medical college in Central India from 21st May to 30th May 2020. In all, 232 nurses were present during the training, organised to provide the information on COVID-19. Corona virus Anxiety scale (CAS) was used to calculate anxiety score of all the participants. Mean scores of pre-test and post-test were calculated. Significance was found out using Mann-Whitney’s U-test. Results: The mean age (±SD) of the study participants was found to be 38.95 (±4.5) years. The mean pre-test and post-test scores of all the participants were found to be 6.7586 (±3.08SD) and 13.5517 (±3.27 SD) respectively. The difference between the means was observed to be (p-value <0.001). Around 38.3% of the nurses had dysfunctional anxiety (CAS score more than 9), 52.1% were found to be working on the frontline (outpatient departments, wards and laboratory services specifically dedicated to COVID-19). Conclusion: This study was found to be effective in gaining knowledge and practice pertaining to COVID-19 training. This study also revealed the level of anxiety among the nurses during the ongoing pandemic.
