Background: Mechanical ventilation (MV) is one of the therapeutic pillars of intensive care medicine. Technique and practice in emergency airway management varies between ICUs and in different countries and as a result, complication rates may also differ. Unplanned extubation is a frequent event after endotracheal intubation for respiratory support in critically ill patients and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The incidence of unplanned extubation among intubated patients is reported to vary from 0.3% to 1.4%. Unplanned extubation account for approximately 10% of reintubations. An Unplanned Extubation is also associated with prolonged duration of mechanical ventilation, ICU stay and hospital stay. Objective: to assess the knowledge of clinical nurses regarding risk of unplanned extubation of patients with mechanical ventilation at Kempegowda institute of medical science and research Hospital, Bangalore, Karnataka. Materials and Methods: Quantitative research approach and a pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test research design were used to accomplish the stated objectives. The investigator selected a sample of 50 nurses who were working in KIMS hospital. The data were collected by using a self administered structured knowledge questionnaire. Planned teaching was given with appropriate A-V aid followed by pretest. Result: Inferential and descriptive statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS-IBM 20. Results were calculated by using p value < 0.05. The results revealed that, in pretest 80% of the nurses had inadequate knowledge where as in posttest 82% of the nurses had gained moderately adequate knowledge and the improvement was statistically significant at P<0.05. Conclusion: The study result shows that after intervention knowledge regarding risk of unplanned extubation among nurses were improved significantly. Background: In South Asia region, India is the biggest country manufacturing pesticides for agricultural production and ranks10th in world where farmers use pesticides in agricultural area. In India, farmers have less knowledge regarding pesticide application and very rarely they get opportunity to attend formal training program regarding handling of hazardous pesticides. In developing countries, farmers have unsafe pesticide application and handling practices due to which pesticide poisoning has a major health problems among famers. Indian farmers who practice unsafe use of pesticides also experience different health problems. Hence there is a necessity to find out knowledge and practices of farmers while handling dangerous pesticides in day to day life.Methods: A quantitative research approach and cross sectional survey design was used in present study. Total of 302 farmers residing in rural area of Doiwala block were selected by using purposive sampling technique. Ethical permission was obtained from institutional ethical committee and informed consent was taken from study participants. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.Results: A total of 125 (41.5%) farmers were using pesticide two times in a year and 180(59.8%) farmers used it for protection of crops. It was expressed by 223 (73.8%) farmers that they read the labels on the pesticide containers before using it but only 182(60.3%) farmers followed the instructions on the label.Conclusions: Farmers did not have adequate knowledge about frequency and reasons of using pesticide in farming. Majority of the farmers did not have adequate knowledge and practices regarding use of pesticide in agricultural area.

Background: Clinical nurses are competent with good knowledge, skills and attitudes. These efforts are carried out through integrated training adaptation of the concept of From Novice to Expert Patricia Benner. The study aims to determine the effect of nursing training on increasing knowledge, skills and attitudes. Method: This quantitative research quasy experiment, using a non randomized control group pretest and posttest design. The study sample was 100 people, divided into two groups, namely the same intervention and control group. The research instrument was a valid and reliable questionnaire (Chronbach's alpha 0.989). Research for 12 weeks, March-June 2018 with nursing training interventions in the intervention group respondents. Results: The results of the study were the majority of respondents were female, aged 20-35, career level of clinical nurse level I. Diploma education and work period of 1-5 years. Bivariate results with the mean value of posttest score knowledge 97.20, increased by 21.6%, statistically meaningful knowledge of p value=0.000. The mean value of the posttest skill was score 92.96, increased by 23.92%, the skill statistically was significant p value=0.000 and the mean value of posttest attitude was 50.06, increased by 6.44%, statistically meaningful p value=0.000, there was an effect of nursing training on improving the knowledge, skills and attitudes of clinical nurses. The results of multivariate analysis of nursing training were statistically significant towards increasing knowledge of clinical nurses (p value=0.000), having the possibility of knowledge increasing 10 times, increasing skills statistically significant (p value=0.000), having the possibility of increasing skills 1.4 times and increasing statistically meaningful attitudes (p value=0.000), having an increased likelihood of attitudes 0.8 times compared to not getting training, no confounding variables were found. Conclusion: Based on this research, the increase in knowledge, skills and attitudes is influenced by nursing training from the aspects of material, methods, facilities, instructors and post-training evaluation methods. Thus to achieve optimal quality of knowledge, skills and attitude, it is advisable to conduct mentoring, supervision, mentoring and guidance in an integrated manner

Introduction: Leukaemia is a blood cancer which affect the bone marrow. The cells of leukaemia or abnormal cells continue to grow and divide, resulting in the normal blood cells being crowded out. Thus, planned teaching on leukaemia management among patients with leukaemia would improve their health and mold them into a healthy quality of life. Aim: To determine the effectiveness of planned teaching program on management of leukaemia among leukaemia patients. Materials and Methods: The interventional one group pre-test and post-test study design with a Quantitative research approach was used. The present study was carried out in selected hospitals of Nagpur from January 2017 to March 2017. The sample size was 60. Validated pre-tested pre-designed structured questionnaires were used. Data collected were entered into the Microsoft Excel sheet. The statistical analysis was done using SPSS software. Frequencies and percentages were presented for categorical variables. Reliability analysis was done by the Guttman split-half coefficient and was found to be 0.90. Results: The pre-test findings show that 23 (38.33%) had a poor level of knowledge score, 31 (51.67%) had average knowledge and 06 (10%) of them had good knowledge and no one of them had found a very good level of knowledge. After planned teaching in the post-test, 12 (20%) had a good knowledge score and 48 (80%) had very good knowledge, showing an increase in the knowledge score, post-test. The Mean score value of the pre-test was 07.57 and the post-test was 21.13 (p-value is 0.001), Hence it indicates that planned teaching was effective. There was a significant association between knowledge scores of leukaemia patients with respect to education of leukaemia patients (p-value 0.014 i.e. <0.05) and area of residence (p-value 0.047 i.e. <0.05). Conclusion: The study showed that the leukaemia management education was successful in improving the awareness about management of leukaemia and thus helps them to understand the nature and management of the disease as well as to take the required measures to avoid complications.

A descriptive study to assess the Mental Health Literacy among the Nursing students (18-20 years of) in the selected college at Puducherry. The objectives of the study was to assess the mental health literacy among the Nursing students. The research approach selected for the study was quantitative research approach and descriptive research design. The study was conducted at MTPG&RIHS at Puducherry. Total 100 B.Sc. Nursing Students who completed the subject mental health nursing were selected based on Non-probability convenient sampling. The researcher used standardized tool, Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS) data collection. The findings of the study revealed that 82% of samples had moderate level of knowledge on Mental Health Literacy, 18% of samples had adequate knowledge about Mental Health Literacy and none of the samples had inadequate knowledge regarding Mental Health Literacy. Regarding knowledge, out of 100 samples, 82% of subjects are belongs to moderate knowledge about Mental Health Literacy and Mental illness. Remaining 18% had adequate knowledge about Mental Health Literacy and Mental Illness none of the samples had inadequate knowledge about the Mental Health Literacy and Mental Illness.

This study was aimed to find out whether or not (1) there is  any significant correlation between reading ability and reading habit, (2) There is any significant correlation between reading ability and internet use, (3) There is any significant correlation among reading ability, internet use, and reading habit of students of private junior high schools in  Kecamatan Ilir Timur II Palembang. This study was a quantitative research approach with a corelational research design. The researcher collected the data through 2 instruments namely, reading test and questionnaires. A test was used to find out students’ reading ability and questionnaires were used to find out students’ reading habits and internet use. The population of this study was 803 and 120 for the population. To analyze the data, the procedures were presenting and describing the data,  testing the hypotheses, and analyzing the regression. From the results, only internet use and reading ability that had a significant correlation (p-value > 0.05). The result of the regression analysis between internet use to reading ability showed that the correlation between those variables was 16,7%.

The meaning of the term integration is coordination of different activities. Over the years, the subjects under the curriculum for the under graduate's students was taught separately. The study was planned to integrate three subjects namely Medical Surgical Nursing, Pathology and Pharmacology together for better understanding and relevant learning. The research approach for this study was quantitative research approach. A Pre experimental Single group pretest posttest design was used. Total 30 students were enrolled in the study. Pretest was conducted followed by introducing integrated teaching module and Posttest after the completion of the Module. Opinionnaire was obtained from the participants. Result was analyzed using inferential statistics. The calculated t value 6.07 is greater than the table t value of 2.756 which is statistically signicant at p value <0.001. This indicates that the integrated teaching can be used to improve the cognitive domain of the students.

<p>Making errors in patient identification can cause problems and are threats to safety of patients. Nurses’ adequate knowledge and adherence to the implementation of patient identification can improve patient safety. This study used quantitative research with correlation research design. This study was conducted in the inpatient unit at a private hospital in western Indonesia with a total of 37 nurses. Data were collected using questionnaires developed and has been tested for validity and reliability. Observations were also carried out to directly observe the nurses’ behaviors in carrying out patient identification using checklist observation guide developed from the standard operational procedures of the hospital. Data were analyzed using both univariate and bivariate tests with Spearman Rank. The results of this study showed significant correlation between level of nurse’s knowledge and adherence in implementing patient identification correctly with patient identification implementation (p value = 0.049). Based on the observation of the nurses in the ward showed no significant correlation between level of knowledge and adherence and implementation of patient identification by nurses (p value = 0.159). The results of the observation of nurses was contrary to the study results collected from questionnaire that measure nurses’ adherence, thus further research is needed to identify factors that effect nurses’ adherence in implementing patient identification in in-patient unit.</p><p><strong>BAHASA INDONESIA </strong>Kesalahan melakukan identifikasi pasien dapat menimbulkan masalah dan ancaman keselamatan pada pasien. Pengetahuan dan kepatuhan perawat yang adekuat dalam melaksanakan identifikasi pasien dapat meningkatkan keselamatan pasien. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif desain korelasi, dilakukan pada bulan Juli diruang rawat salah satu Rumah Sakit Swasta di Indonesia Barat dengan jumlah responden 37 perawat. Alat yang digunakan adalah kuesioner yang sudah diuji validitas dan reliabilitas untuk mengukur pengetahuan dan kepatuhan. Serta lembar panduan observasi berupa checklist observasi yang dikembangkan dari Standar Prosedur Operasional, untuk mengamati perilaku perawat mengidentifikasi pasien di ruang rawat inap. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji univariat dan uji bivariat dengan uji korelasi Spearman Rank. Uji korelasi Spearman Rank menunjukkan ada hubungan signifikan bersifat lemah antara tingkat pengetahuan dan kepatuhan perawat berdasarkan kuesioner (p=0,049). Berdasarkan observasi, tidak ada hubungan antara pengetahuan dan kepatuhan perawat (p=0,159). Hasil penelitian ini bertolak belakang dengan kepatuhan perawat dalam melakukan identifikasi pasien, yang diukur dengan kuesioner. Penelitian selanjutnya dapat meneliti faktor yang memengaruhi ketidakpatuhan perawat dalam melakukan pelaksanaan identifikasi pasien di ruang rawat inap.</p>

Many school-based interventions for obesity prevention have been proposed with positive changes in behaviour. The objective was to assess the effectiveness of a NLEP on prevention obesity among adolescents. Schools were randomized to intervention and control group. Methods and materials: Quantitative research approach with true experimental research design was used to find out the knowledge on prevention of obesity among school adolescents. The study was conducted among 200 adolescents studying 8th, 9th, 10 th 11th and 12th in selected senior secondary schools, Jalandhar, Punjab. Probability stratified sampling technique was used to select samples. Structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of adolescents regarding prevention of obesity. Major findings: The overall analysis shows that poor knowledge was found in both experimental group 58% and control group 68% before the implementation of NLEP. In the experimental group, knowledge scores had improved after the implementation of NLEP, i.e., excellent knowledge is 36%, good knowledge is 47% and average knowledge was 17%. Further, in the control group, It was observed that in post-test 5% had very poor knowledge, 68% had poor knowledge, 20% was average knowledge and only 7% had good knowledge. From the findings it can be interpreted that NLEP improved the level of knowledge in the experimental group significantly than the control group. Pre-test knowledge of adolescents regarding prevention of obesity shows that, out of 100 experimental samples (75%) children had inadequate knowledge, 35(23.6%) children had moderate adequate knowledge and 2(1.4%) children had adequate knowledge. Conclusion: The results shown that, the nurse led educational package on prevention of obesity was improved the knowledge regarding prevention of obesity among the school adolescents.

The hospital is one of the institutions engaged in health services. The main indicator of the standard of a health facility and is a measure of the quality of service, low customer satisfaction will have an impact on the number of visits that will affect the profitability of health facilities. This study aims to determine the effect of quality and the dominant variables that affect service on patient satisfaction at the Haji-Medan Hospital in 2020. The quantitative research was conducted through an analytical survey research approach with a cross sectional study approach. Testing through logistic regression on the independent variables, namely; Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, Empathy and Tangible from the respondents' questionnaire data as many as 80 samples. The results showed that service quality had a significant effect on patient satisfaction from four variables, namely; reliability p value 0.020 (p < 0.05), responsiveness p value 0.038 (p < 0.05), empathy p value 0.000 (p < 0.05), p value tangible 0.001 (p < 0.05). Assurance variable, the quality of health services has no effect on patient satisfaction with a p value of 0.332 (p> 0.05). The dominant variable affecting patient satisfaction is the empathy variable. It is recommended to improve services from the aspect of assurance in order to increase patient confidence in getting services so that patients can feel satisfied with the services provided.

Aim: to assess the knowledge regarding Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram among antenatal mothers attending antenatal clinic at selected PHC in a view to develop an information booklet regarding Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram. Objectives: (i) To assess the level of knowledge regarding Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram among antenatal mothers. (ii) To associate the significant between the level of knowledge regarding Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram among antenatal mothers with selected demographic variables. Methods & Material: A quantitative research approach .descriptive survey design with one group pretest design was adopted 50 samples were selected for the study by using non probability convenient sampling techniques. Result: The finding shows that the level of knowledge majority of mother 37 [74%] had moderate knowledge & 6 [12%] had adequate knowledge and 7 [14%] had inadequate knowledge; there is association between level of Knowledge with the Demographic Variables like Religion and Education of Mothers and the is no association in Age, Occupation, Type of Family, family Income Per Month and No. of Gravida. Conclusion: The findings of the study show that in level of knowledge, the mean value was 10.66 with the standard of 3.8859. The study concluded that most of the antenatal mother are having moderate knowledge regarding Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram among antenatal mother.
