Indonesia has abundant and diverse natural resources from land and sea. These biological natural resources can be explored as medicinal materials well-sourced from plants, animals, or microorganisms. Endophytic fungus is a microbial resource that grows in plant tissues that can produce compounds that have the same efficacy as the host plant. Zulfa (2016) has successfully isolated the endophytic fungi from kayu Jawa (Lannea coromandelica) roots and extracted the extracts with given code A11KA, A11KB, A12KC, A12KD, A21KK, A22KJ, AP12A, AP13L, AP21C, and AP32I. Other activities in these extracts besides antibacterial activity need to be tested. So this study was conducted to test the antioxidant activity of the extract with the DPPH method and used vitamin C positive control. Fifteen samples were obtained in this study, they are MeOH A11KA; MeOH A11KB; MeOH A12KC; MeOH A12KD; MeOH A21KK; MeOH AP12A; MeOH AP13L; MeOH AP12C; MeOH AP321; EA A11KA; EA A12KC; EA AP321; EA AP12A; EA AP13L; EA A22KJ from methanol fractions (MeOH) and ethyl acetate fraction (EA). The antioxidant activity test results showed that only six samples were potential as antioxidants. Value of AAI (Antioxidant Activity Index) EA A12KC; EA A11KA; MeOH A11KA; EA AP321; MeOH AP21C; EA A22KJ and vitamin C are 2.27 (very strong), 2.07 (very strong), 1.78 (strong), 1.19 (strong), 0.81 (medium), 0.53 (medium) and 11.67 (very strong) respectively. The result of antioxidant analysis using GC-MS showed only EA A11KA showing the presence of phenol compound, the largest phenol compound in this sample was phenol, 2,4-bis (1,1-dimethyl ethyl).

<p><em>Obat Pahit</em> is a potion that has been long commonly consumed by Lingga Malay society for generations as stamina keeper. The most dominant plants found in the packaging of the Obat Pahit were namely <em>Bauhunia semibifida, Cnestis palala</em> and Penawa Root (3 species). This research aimed to investigate and determine activity of antioxidant contents in <em>Obat Pahit</em> from five Traditional Medicine Practitioners (TMPs) in the district of Lingga. The tested samples were mashed then being soaked into 2 types of solvent: distilled water and methanol, containing HCl 1%. DPPH method was also used in this research. Quantitatively antioxidant activity test of <em>Obat Pahit</em> from the five TMPs by using methanol solvent had extremely highest activity compared to the distilled water solvent. The test, using TLC plate by spraying the extract from three dominant plants with 0.1 mM of DPPH solution, produced a pale-yellow spots at a wavelength of 366 nm. On the other hand, the test using HPLC at wavelengths of 230 nm and 280 nm showed the presence of two dominant secondary metabolites contents: flavonoid and phenolic. IC50 (ppm) of <em>Bauhinia semibifida</em> (6.6247), Penawa Root (5.0124) and <em>Cnestis palala</em> (5.9968) were much lower than IC50 of mangosteen’s rind (41.7675), vitamin C (6.6612) and Stimuno drug (8.333). This antioxidant analysis has not been reported previously. This proof contributed greatly to uncovering potentially native natural resources as an indigenous Indonesian drug which is expected to decrease dependence on imported drugs especially imunomodulator, antihypertensive, antidiabet etc. This research would be beneficial and excellent manifestation for the development of natural antioxidant-based medicines from traditional knowledge of Indonesia’s local ethnicities.</p>

Wualae (Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M Smith) is one of the plants in the Zingiberaceae family, widely used in medicine ranging from rhizomes, fruits, and flowers. Empirically Wualae are usually used by people for treating skin diseases, flavoring food, a natural soap, and in Southeast Sulawesi, it is used to treat typhoid fever. This study aims to examine the antioxidant activity of Wualae (Etlingera elatior) plant. The plant extracts were extracted by maceration method, antioxidant activity test was performed by 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The results showed that ethanol extracts of fruits, leaves, stems and rhizomes of Wualae (Etlingera elatior) has the potential antioxidant activity with the IC50 values of 72.518 mg/L, 99.890 mg/L, 52.345 mg/L and 58.638 mg/L, respectively. and Vitamin C has IC50 value of 3,787 mg/L.

ABSTRACT Sponges are a component of coral reef biota that has bioactive compounds with a greater percentage of activity compared to compounds produced by terrestrial plants. This study aims to determine the presence of antioxidant activity in the ethanol extracts of sponge Ianthella basta from the waters of Tumbak Village. Ianthella basta sponge was extracted using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. Antioxidant activity testing was carried out using the DPPH method with a concentration of 100 µg / mL, 75 μg / mL, 50 μg / mL, and 25 μg / mL and Vitamin C p.a as positive control. Each sample was made three repetitions of the test. Testing using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the Ianthella basta sponge had antioxidant activity with a percentage of 48.73% at a concentration of 100 µg / mL. Keywords: Ianthella basta sponge, Antioxidants, Extraction, DPPH  ABSTRAK Spons merupakan salah satu komponen biota penyusun terumbu karang yang mempunyai senyawa bioaktif dengan persentase keaktifan lebih besar dibandingkan dengan senyawa-senyawa yang dihasilkan oleh tumbuhan darat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya aktivitas antioksidan di dalam ekstrak etanol Spons Ianthella basta dari perairan Desa Tumbak. Spons Ianthella basta diekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH dengan konsentrasi 100 µg/mL, 75 µg/mL, 50 µg/mL, dan 25 µg/mL dan Vitamin C p.a sebagai kontrol positif. Masing-masing sampel dibuat tiga kali pengulangan uji. Pengujian menggunakan alat spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Antioxidant are compounds that are able to inactivate the development of the oxidation reactions of the molecules or neutralize free radicals. Mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) has properties as a medicinal plant. Through the phytochemical screening, the mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) contains antioxidant compounds such as alkaloids, saponins and phenolics. The aim of this study was to determine the presence of antioxsidant activity in the extract of mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.). using the DPPH method with a concentration of 250 mg / L, 200 mg / L, 150 mg / L and 100 mg / L and Vitamin C p.a as a positive control. Each sample made three repetitions of the test. The test uses a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. ABSTRACT Extract Ethanol of Manila Sapodilla (Acrhras zapota L.)  contain flavonoid compound with antioxidant activity. Aim of this research is to find out ethanol  extract of manila sapodilla (Acrhras zapota L.) has antioxidant activity with DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil). Extract was made by using maceration  method by using ethanol liquid 70%. Ethanol extract of manila sapodilla (Acrhras zapota L.) was made main liquid 1000 ppm after that therewere dilution of 20, 40, 60, and 80 ppm. Positive control (Vitamin C) with concentration 2, 4, 6, and 8 ppm. Each of concentration was taken 1 ml then added 2 ml of DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil) liquid, and then it is  homogent and incubated during 30 minutes. After that, measurement of spectrophotometer UV-Vis was conducted in wave length of 517 nm. Result of data was analyzed by using absorbansi with grapic of concentration relationship with percentage of DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil) inhibition. Result of research shows that ethanol  extract of manila sapodilla (Acrhras zapota L.) was proven has the antioxidant activity very strong with IC50  8,2786 µg/mL. Keywords : Manila Sapodilla, DPPH, Antioxidant, Spectrophotometer. ABSTRAK Ekstrak etanol daun sawo manila (Acrhras zapota L.)  mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak etanol daun sawo manila (Acrhras zapota L.) memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil). Ekstrak dibuat dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Ekstrak etanol daun sawo manila (Acrhras zapota L.) dibuat larutan induk 1000 ppm setelah  itu dilakukan pengenceran 20, 40, 60, dan 80 ppm. Kontrol positif (Vitamin C) dengan konsentrasi 2, 4, 6, dan 8 ppm. Dari masing-masing konsentrasi diambil 1 ml lalu di tambahkan 2 ml larutan DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil), kemudian dihomogenkan dan diinkubasi selama 30 menit. Setelah itu,dilakukan pengukuran spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 517 nm. Data hasil dianalisis pengukuran absorbansi menggunakan grafik hubungan konsentrasi dengan persen inhibisi DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun sawo manila (Acrhras zapota L.) terbukti memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat dengan nilai IC50  8,2786 µg/mL. Kata kunci : Sawo Manila, DPPH, Antioksidan, Spektrofotometer.

Date seeds are waste from palm fruit processing that has not been utilized optimally. Date seeds contain flavonoids which are known to act as antioxidants. The aim of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity and flavonoid of methanol extract which was carried out by soxhletation and its fractionation results. Date seeds are made into simplicia, soxhlet extraction with methanol, then the methanol extract is fractionated in stages by liquid-liquid partition with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol. Each fraction and extract was determined by its antioxidant activity with the DPPH method and its flavonoid was determined by spectrophotometry. Ethyl acetate fraction has the strongest antioxidant activity with the lowest IC50 value, that is equal to 5.74 ± 0.05μg/mL, followed by methanol extract of 9.55±0.53 μg/mL, n-butanol fraction 19.73±0,58 μg/mL, and n-hexane fraction of 289.59±10.52 μg/mL, while the IC50 value for vitamin C as a positive control was 4.29±0.74 μg/mL. The highest flavonoids were produced from ethyl acetate fractions which amounted to 1484.33 ± 161.47 mg Quercetin Equivalent (QE) / 100 g, followed respectively by methanol extract of 282.84±13.72 mg QE/100 g.

Background: Sand shell (Semele cordiformis) is commonly found in South East Sulawesi marine area. This species traditionally used for treatment of several disease. Nevertheless, there is less publication about bioactivity of S. cordiformis as asource of drugs. Purpose: The aims of this research is to determine the activity of protein hydrolysate of S. cordiformis as an antioxidant. Methods: This research was conducted by pre-experimetal study with post test only control group design. Antioxidant activity was measure by DPPH method and spectrophotometry. The sample was hydrolyzed by using papain enzyme. The sample was made in to concentration 200 ppm, 400 ppm, 600 ppm, 800 ppm, and 1000 ppm and vitamin C was used as positive control. The IC50 was used to measure antioxidant activity. Results: Concentration of 200 ppm showed 36,68% of inhibition percentage, 400 ppm showed 47,69%, 600 ppm showed 60,19%, 800 ppm showed 65,63%, and 1000 ppm showed 72,69 %. The IC50 value of was obtained for 453,777 ppm. Conclusion: The protein hydrolysate of S. cordiformis have an antioxidant activity and the hydrolisat concentration is directly proportional with inhibition activity.Keyword: antioxidant, protein hydrolysate, Semele cordiformis ABSTRAKPendahuluan: Kerang pasir atau Semele ccordiformis merupakan jenis kerang yang banyak ditemukan di perairan Sulawesi Tenggara. Meskipun demikian, belum ditemukan publikasi ilmiah mengenai bioaktifitas S. ccordiformis dalam bidang kesehatan. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktifitas antioksidan hidrolisat protein S. cordiformis. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain pra-eksperimental dengan pendekatan post-test only control group. Uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH dengan prinsip spektrofotometri. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah S. cordiformis yang diperoleh dari perairan Pulau Bokori, Kabupaten Konawe, Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara yang kemudian dihidrolisis menggunakan enzim papain. Sampel dibuat menjadi beberapa konsentrasi yaitu 200 ppm, 400 ppm, 600 ppm, 800 ppm, and 1000 ppm dan vitamin C digunakan sebagai kontrol positif. Nilai IC50 digunakan untuk mengetahui aktifitas antioksidan. Hasil: Konsentrasi 200 ppm menghasilkan persen inhibisi sebesar 36,68%, 400 ppm sebesar 47,69%, 600 ppm sebesar 60,19%, 800 ppm sebesar 65,63%, dan 1000 ppm sebesar 72,69 %. Nilai IC50 yang diperoleh adalah 453,777 ppm. This study was conducted to determine the activity of Jatropha gossypifolia L (jarak merah’s) leaf extract as an antioxidant and antibactery against acne causing bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes). To obtain an J. gossypifolia L jarak merah’s leaf extract by maceration using 96% ethanol, and then fractionated with n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Testing of antioxidant activity by DPPH method and antibactery activity test by the paper disc method. Antioxidant activity test has done for ethanol fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and n-hexane fraction, while testing for antibacterial activity performed on fractions active as antioxidant. The test results demonstrate the antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate fraction and the ethanol fraction as a fraction very strong with IC50 value of 22.33 ppm for ethyl acetate fraction and 41.04 ppm for ethanol fraction. Then the fraction of ethyl acetate and ethanol fraction antibactery activity test, the result is known that both factions have the ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria Propionibacterium acnes demonstrated by the inhibition zone is formed. In 1000 ppm is formed diameter of the greatest inhibition zone that is equal to 6 mm for ethyl acetate fraction and 5 mm for ethanol fraction.

Antioxidants are compounds that can delay, reduce, slow down or inhibit oxidation reactions from free radical reactions. Antioxidants donate electrons to unstable free radicals so that these free radicals can be neutralized to not interfere with the body's metabolic processes. Red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa has potential as an antioxidant. The study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa against DPPH free radicals based on the IC50 value. Phytochemical testing and determination of antioxidant activity were carried out using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), which was carried out quantitatively using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the phytochemical screening of red seaweed ethanol extract contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and polyphenols and the IC50 value of red seaweed ethanol extract was 4.59 ppm, while the positive control for Vitamin C was 6.64 ppm. It was concluded that the ethanolic extract of red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa in the South Aceh District had high antioxidant potential, as evidenced by the small IC50 value of <50 µg/mL.Keywords: Antioxidants, Galauxara rugosa, phytochemicals, DPPH  ABSTRAKAktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang mampu menunda, memperkecil, memperlambat atau menghambat reaksi oksidasi dari reaksi radikal bebas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa terhadap radikal bebas DPPH berdasarkan nilai IC50. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian fitokimia dan penentuan aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) yang dilakukan secara kuantitatif menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil dari skrining fitokimia ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid dan polifenol serta nilai IC50 ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah sebesar 4,59 ppm sedangkan kontrol positif Vitamin C sebesar 6,64 ppm. Apridamayanti P, Fajriaty I, Etni Hatita E. 2018. Antioxidant activity and analgesic assessment of Lansium domesticum stem bark infusion. Nusantara Bioscience 10: 71-75. Langsat (Lansium domesticum Correa) is empirically used as a medicine for fever and pain. This study intended to determine the effectiveness of stem bark infusion of langsat as an antioxidant and analgesic. Antioxidant activity test was performed by DPPH method (2,2 Diphenyl-1-picrilhydrazil), with infusion at concentration of 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 ppm. Absorbance of the sample was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The analgesic test was performed on male Swiss mice by Writhing test using acetic acid 0.6%, CMC-Na induced negative control, Paracetamol 65 mg/kg BW induced positive control, dose I (65 mg/kg BW), dose II (130 mg/kg BW) and dose III (195 mg/kg BW). Data was analyzed using One Way ANOVA in SPSS and the percentage of writhing protection at each dose was calculated. The results of phytochemical metabolites screening of stem bark infusion showed the presence of flavonoids, terpenoids/steroids, tannins, phenols and saponins. Antioxidant activity measured by spectrophotometric measurements showed that the antioxidant activity of stem bark infusion was IC50 2820 μg/ml. The percentage of writhing protection on dose I, II, and III was 57.52%, 42.48% and 24.51% respectively, showing a significant difference with negative control at minute 5, 10 and 15 (P <0, 05). There were no significant differences between positive control and dose I, at minute 30 to minute 60 (P> 0,05). The effective dose of stem bark infusion was obtained as an analgesic at dose of 65 mg/kg BW from 30 to 60 minutes.
