The present research project was designed to determine the hematological values in infected broiler flocks with hydropericardium syndrome from January to June, 2012 in order to adjoining areas of Hyderabad Sindh. A total of 72 containing population 96,500 broiler chickens were surveyed to observe for hematological variation during the study period. Only 30 (41.66%) flocks were found affected with Hydro pericardium syndrome. Out of these flocks, the incidence of syndrome was recorded as 5.4% during the month of January, 7.41% in February, 10.8% in March, 13% in April, 15.1% in May and 12.8% during the month of June. The hematological studies were conducted in infected broilers with hydropericardium syndrome and found increase in white blood cells (WBC) from 14.500 ± 2.298 to 25.820 ± 844.00 and concentration of erythrocytic sedimentation rate (ESR) from 2.340 ± 0.89 to 3.458 ± 0.291. This research was conducted to estimate the effects of Persicaria odorata leaf meal (POLM) on haematological indices, serum biochemical attributes, and internal organs parameters, including histomorphological features of the liver, in broiler chickens. A total of 120 one-day-old male broiler chicks (Cobb-500) were randomly allocated into four experimental groups. The dietary treatments were basal diet (BD), which served as the control (C), along with BD + 2 g/kg POLM (Po2), BD + 4 g/kg POLM (Po4), BD + 8 g/kg POLM (Po8), which were the supplemented groups. The body weight gain (BWG) showed a linear increase and feed conversion ratio (FCR) showed a linear decrease with increasing POLM dosage at day 42 (p ˂ 0.05) and for the overall growth performance period (p ˂ 0.01). On day 21 and day 42, the values of red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), haemoglobin (Hb), and packed cell volume (PCV) showed linear increases (p ˂0.05) as the dosage of POLM increased in the diet. On day 21, dietary supplementation of POLM linearly decreased (p ˂ 0.05) the serum activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransaminase (AST), alanine aminotransaminase (ALT), and serum levels of urea and creatinine. On the other hand, serum levels of total protein (TP), albumin, and globulin showed a linear increase (p ˂ 0.05) as the POLM dosage increased. On day 42, the serum activity of AST and ALT and serum levels of glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, urea, and creatinine showed linear decreases (p ˂ 0.05) with increased levels of POLM in the diet. However, POLM supplementation linearly increased (p ˂ 0.05) the serum levels of TP and globulin. Dietary inclusion of POLM did not influence the organ parameters and showed no adverse effects on the liver histomorphology. In conclusion, supplementation of POLM increased the growth performance, improving haematological indices and serum biochemistry profiles of broiler chickens without any deleterious effects on the liver histomorphology. The results of the present study provide evidence that POLM can be safely used at a dose rate of 8 g/kg of feed as an alternative to conventional antimicrobial growth promoters (AGPs).

Some hematological values, blood total protein, protein fractions, and minerals such as calcium and phosphorus of takhi, which are now being reintroduced in Khustain natural park, were measured. There were 8.3 million red blood cells and 8000 white blood cells in 1 mm3 whole blood of takhi reintroduced in Khustain natural park, and hemoglobin was 179.6±3.2 g/l. As well, total proteins, calcium and phosphorus of takhi were 67± 0.6 g/l, 2.1±0.31 mmol/l, and 1.1±0.2 mmol/l respectively and they were similar to those in Mongolian horses. This study was conducted to know thehematological changes of anemia in horsesat equestrian club in Baghdad. Blood samples were collected from 151 horses of both sexes(74 male and 77 female) and different agesrandomly. The study includedred blood cells count, white blood cells, hemoglobin, packed cell volume and differential blood smears, togetherwith erythrocyte sedimentation rate readings. The study showed increased white blood cells count mainly neutrophilwith decreased hemoglobinand red blood cell countin addition to erythrocyte sedimentation rate.The blood smears showeddifferent changes of red blood cell.

Background and Aim: In recent decades, the use of various feed supplements is the current trend in poultry farming, among which phytogenics serve as alternatives to feed antibiotics. This study aimed to examine the effect of feeding various doses of milk thistle extract (Silybum marianum) on the morphological and biochemical parameters of the blood in broiler chickens. Materials and Methods: Experiments were carried out in an industrial poultry farm on broiler chickens of the Hubbard ISA F15 cross for 40 days. One control group and five experimental groups of day-old chickens were formed. The number of birds in each group was 50. Broilers of all groups received complete feed, and the experimental groups received an additional milk thistle extract at doses of 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mg/kg of body weight. Milk thistle medicinal plant extract was obtained using water-ethanol extraction followed by low-temperature vacuum drying. For the assessment of blood analyses, samples were collected from the wing vein of six chickens per group. Using unified methods recommended by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry, the content of red blood cells, hemoglobin, white blood cells, total protein, protein fractions, triglycerides, glucose, calcium, phosphorus, and the concentration of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase in the blood serum were determined. Results: It was found that the introduction of milk thistle extract into the diet of broiler chickens with the aforementioned doses increased the number of red blood cells, hemoglobin, white blood cells in the blood, as well as a decrease in the level of albumin and an increase in the content of γ-globulins in its serum. Conclusion: The authors assume that the introduction of milk thistle extract into a complete feed for broiler chickens increased the anabolic processes in their bodies, accompanied by increased use of proteins of the albumin fraction as the main material for organogenesis.

Aksyantsev: Experience in comparative study of immunobiological reactions in tbc clinic. Report, to be printed in Kaz. Med. Jour. Prof. P. N. Nikolaev pointed out about the report that it is impossible to perform all reactions studied by the reporters at the patient's bedside and that the doctor should never forget the personality of the patient in his work. Prof. N. K. Goryaev noted that a big drawback of the report was the lack of description of the clinical picture of the cases studied, as well as the fact that in parallel with the reactions studied the blood picture was not given. To study erythrocyte sedimentation rate Prof. Goryaev considers the Linzeamier's methodology inconvenient. In addition, Drs. Mastbaum and Aksyantsev commented on the reports.

The article presents the results of studies of the eff ect of the drug “Poledoxin”, which belongs to the group of tetracyclines and the drug “Tilmox 25%”, belonging to the group of macrolides, on some morphological and biochemical parameters of blood of Coobb-500 broiler chickens. It has been established that the use of the preparations “Poledoxin” and “Tilmox 25 %” for healthy broiler chickens according to the scheme recommended for treating birds with ornithobacteriosis and infections complicated by the causative agent of ornithobacteriosis does not cause changes in the clinical condition and behavioral reactions of the bird. A blood test found that under the infl uence of the drug “Poledoxin”, the number of red blood cells in the blood of broiler chickens increased by 4–59 % (p< 0,01) in chickens which used the drug “Tilmox 25 %” – by 5–46 % relative to control. The hematocrit value was less than the control indicator by 8 % in chickens that were treated with Poledoxin after 6 days of experiment (p< 0,05) in chickens that were used with tilmox 25 % – by 10 % (p< 0,05) through 6 and 9 days of experience. The hemoglobin content in the blood of poultry of the studied groups one day after drinking antibiotic solutions was less than the control by 7 and 8 %, respectively (p< 0,05, p< 0,01), and after 4 days – by 11 and 10 % (p< 0,01). Under the infl uence of Pledoxin, the volume of 1 erythrocyte (MCV, μm 3) in the blood of chickens was less than the control by 23–39 % (p< 0,05, p< 0,01), and when exposed to tilmox 25% – by 16–35 % (p< 0,01). The hemoglobin content in 1 erythrocyte (MCH, pg) was 62–83 % of the control index when exposed to Poledoxin (p< 0,01) and 69–86 % when exposed to tylmox 25 % (p< 0,01). The number of leukocytes in the blood of a bird under the infl uence of “Poledoxin” decreased by 8 % after a day (p< 0,01), and increased by 6 and 7 % after 3 and 4 days (p< 0,01). A decrease in the number of leukocytes in the blood of chickens of both research groups by 5–11 % (p< 0,001, p< 0,01) was established after 8 and 9 days. ABSTRACT Objective. In view of the deficiency of information in the area of clinical pathology of elasmobranchs, mainly of the physiological parameters, the aim of this work was to study hematological parameters of the Zapteryx brevirostris species. Materials and methods. Four specimens apparently healthy of Zapteryx brevirostris; three females and a male were used. These animals are all pertaining ones to the Aquarium of Ubatuba, São Paulo (Brazil). Results. The obtained average of hematological values for the Zapteryx brevirostris were: Red Blood Cells were - 0.96 x 106/μL, Packed Cell Volume - 24.3% and White Blood Cells - 36.8 x 103/μL. Conclusion. Although the small N, which decreases the accuracy, this research has scientific value because the situation of vulnerability of Zapteryx brevirostris, suggesting other studies. RESUMENObjetivo. En vista de la carencia de información en el área de patología clínica de los elasmobranquios, especialmente en lo que respecta a los parámetros fisiopatológicos, el objetivo de este trabajo fue el de obtener parámetros de la hematología de la especie Zapteryx brevirostris. Materiales y método. Cuatro animales clínicamente saludables de Zapteryx brevirostris; tres hembras y un macho fueron utilizados, todos procedentes del Acuario de Ubatuba, S. P. Resultados. Los valores promedio de hematología para el Zapteryx brevirostris fueron: glóbulos rojos - 0.96 x 106/ μL, volumen de los hematíes - 24.3 % y glóbulos blancos 36.8 x 103/ μL. Conclusiones. A pesar de la pequeña N, que disminuye la precisión, la investigación tiene valor científico debido a que Zapteryx brevirostris es una especie vulnerable; sugiriendo otros estudios.

A study was carried out to look at the utilization of cowpea based diets on performance characteristics and haematology of broiler chickens.  Raw cowpea, dehulled cowpea, dehulled cooked cowpea and dehulled roasted cowpea grains were fed to broiler chickens in an eight week feeding trial. A total of two hundred (200) day old unsexed broiler chicks of Marshall strain were allotted into five dietary treatments.?Feed intake and growth were significantly (P < 0.05) reduced in birds fed raw cowpea and dehulled cowpea respectively. The feed conversion efficiency (FCE) and protein efficiency ratio (PER)  also followed a similar pattern. Non significant (P > 0.05) differences were however obtained in weight gain, FCE and PER of birds fed control diet and those fed dehulled cooked cowpea in this study. Birds fed dehulled roasted cowpea also had marginal reductions in weight gain, FCE and PER when compared to those fed dehulled cooked cowpea based diet. The haematological studies showed lower (P < 0.05) values of haemoglobin, red blood cells, packed cell volume and white blood cells of birds fed raw cowpea and dehulled cowpea respectively. The best significant indices in this study were however obtained in birds fed dehulled cooked cowpea.Bang. J. Anim. Sci. 2016. 45 (1): 62-68
