Introduction: Safe water is a precondition for health and development and is a basic human right, yet it is still denied to hundreds of millions of people throughout the developing world. Water-related diseases caused by insufficient safe water supplies, coupled with poor sanitation and hygiene, cause 3.4 million deaths a year, mostly in children. Methodology: The present study was conducted on 1,317 drinking water samples from various water sources in Amritsar district in northern India. All the samples were analyzed to assess bacteriological quality of water for presumptive coliform count by the multiple tube test. Results: A total of 42.9% (565/1,317) samples from various sources were found to be unfit for human consumption. Of the total 565 unsatisfactory samples, 253 were from submersible pumps, 197 were from taps of piped supply (domestic/public), 79 were from hand pumps, and 36 were from various other sources A significantly high level of contamination was observed in samples collected from submersible pumps (47.6%) and water tanks (47.3%), as these sources of water are more exposed and liable to contamination. Conclusions: Despite continuous efforts by the government, civil society, and the international community, over a billion people still do not have access to improved water resources. Bacteriological assessment of all sources of drinking should be planned and conducted on regular basis to prevent waterborne dissemination of diseases.

Rationale behind construction of a “Sentence Review Board” in any State correctional institution in lies behind the progression of law originating from custodial and penal causes, to reformative and rehabilitative handling of lawbreakers wherein well-behaved and upright conduct, and rectified attitude are considered for as a key criterion for reduction of judicial sentence of imprisonment on personalized footing. In consonance of the statutory power granted, and focusing upon the guidelines issued by “Model Prison Manual 2003” through a notificationon December 1, 2015 the Home Department of the Government of Maharashtra formulated the amending rules to “Maharashtra Prisons (Review of Sentences) Rules, 1972” and restructured the “Advisory Boards,Special Advisory Boards and Medical Committees” constituted for the purpose of “pre-mature release” of the certain categorisedconvicts. As the provision for a premature release is “an executive exercise and not a judicial process”, “executive discretion in granting or denying” it raises certain grey areas in the criminal dispensation system in India. The present paper with an analytical and critical approach attempts to study the existing makeup of executive process of “pre-mature release of a felonwhich though is not a legal right, but is a human right to have his case considered for the grant of remission” in State of Maharashtra

The data presented in this paper are part of the ongoing pediatric nutrition surveillance in ten primary health centers from Riyadh City. A total of 21,507 infants and children under five were included. The mean birth weight was 3027g, and 8.6% of the children had low birth weights. The measurements showed that there had been no obvious change in the weights and heights of children during the past 13 years. In our results the children classified as moderate and severely underweight were 4.5% and 0.8% respectively. The data showed the average growth of all infants, regardless of feeding pattern, was same or faster than the NCHS reference population, up to approximately six months of age after which their growth became slower than that of the NCHS standards. The prevalence of malnutrition in Saudi Arabia is moderately high, in spite of the high per capita income, and the fact that the government subsidizes locally produced and imported food items. The malnutrition among this age group may be attributed to reproductive or social behavior and genetic factors. The reduction of malnutrition in the last ten years could be largely due to the nutrition and health education programs. There is a need for more comprehensive nutritional health education among the local population.

ABSTRACT Introduction: food is a human right and a basic need for their subsistence and development. enough food is produced worldwide to supply all inhabitants and satisfy their caloric and nutritional needs. But the mere fact of producing them does not ensure access to safe and nutritious food for all. Therefore, the correct measurement of nutritional food insecurity is essential for a better understanding of this phenomenon, allowing better communication between society, decision-makers and the political agenda. Objectives: analyze the strengths and limitations of the methodologies used to measure nutritional food security in the Argentine Republic between 1984 and 2017. Materials and methods: a systematic review of articles published in five electronic databases was carried out: Scopus, SciELO, PubMed, BVS and Redalyc. The categories analyzed were the nutritional food security measurement methodologies (when people enjoy food security in addition to a healthy environment, as well as adequate health, education and care), with their type of technique, level, duration and dimension evaluated, limitations and strengths. The search terms used were food insecurity, food security, hunger, food sovereignty, food policy, food availability, nutritional programs, nutritional policies and food assistance. Results: after the search, 22 articles were selected for analysis. Conclusions: all the methodologies analyzed take partial aspects. A methodology has not yet been developed that reflects the multisectoral (food, agricultural, governmental, economic, social, etc.) and multidimensional (access, availability, use and stability) nature of the concept of nutritional food security. Having an adequate measurement of nutritional food security is essential to assess the state of nutritional food insecurity in the Argentine Republic, the government policies that are developed under this concept and verify its impact on the health and nutrition of the Argentine population. Key words: food security; food insecurity; hunger; nutrition policy; Argentina.

Access to potable water is absolutely essential to the maintenance of life, as well as to provide regular exercise of other human rights. The lack of access to water in sufficient quantity or access to non-potable water may cause serious and irreparable damage to people. This paper investigates the evolution of international and national recognition of this fundamental human right, whether implicit or explicit. This was accomplished by the study of international human rights treaties, bibliographic information on water resources and their corresponding legal systems, national and international. The results suggest that sustainable access to drinking water is a fundamental human right in the context of international relations and the State. Further, even without explicitly stating this right in the Constitution of 1988, Brazil has incorporated the main international provisions on the subject, but this right must be acknowledged according to the principles of non-typical fundamental rights and the dignity of the human person. This right should be universally guaranteed by the Government in sufficient quantity and quality, regardless of the economic resources of individuals.
