The study attempts to investigate the attitude and perception of Saudi undergraduate students towards English literature courses as a part of their BA English Program at a large public university in KSA. A total of 59 students (25 studying a literature course, 25 linguistics course and nine had already passed at least one literature course) participated in the study. Applying mixed method research design, questionnaires were used to collect quantitative data and retrospective essays were used for qualitative data. A modified version of AMTB developed by Gardner and associates was used to measure students' attitude towards literature courses. The results of study show that the participants have positive attitude towards literature courses. The findings also suggest that learners’ social environment (family, friends, classmates, teachers…etc.) significantly contribute in constructing positive attitudes and enhancing their perception towards literature as medium of learning L2. The study has pedagogical implication too. Policy makers (administrator, curriculum developers, and teachers) need to accommodate learners’ voices in the selection of teaching material.

Marriage partner selection, though something very close to us, has not been as simple and straight forward as the name denotes. Rather, it involves a lot of specialty and competence to accomplish. In fact, it has been a very serious and contentious subject of discussion amongst scholars. Various factors determine the selection of marriage partners, which vary from a society to another. This study is set to investigate into the attitude of undergraduate male students towards selection of female graduate and or undergraduate students as marriage partners, with the view of ascertaining if level of females’ education in Northern Nigeria (and especially within the Hausa-folk) is a determining variable for a female to be chosen in marriage. The population of the study consists of all the students of the Department of Educational Foundations, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria, which equals to 560 students. Total number of 226 students are selected as the sampled population. Moreover, questionnaire is used as the research instrument. The instrument was submitted to experts in the departments of Science and Vocational Education, and Educational Foundations respectively for validity check. However, the findings of the study indicate among others that, male undergraduate students have positive attitudes towards the selection of female under/graduate students as marriage partners. Finally, the research upper some suggestions among which one is that, there should be further study on the attitudes of other Hausas of different socio-economic status towards females’ education.

This study attempts to investigate errors in translating prepositions from English into Indonesian language by Undergraduate students at the Methodist University Indonesia, Medan. A total of 20 students in the Department of English Literature, Faculty of English Letters were involved in this study. Forty sentences containing English prepositions were translated by the students. The translations were then compared with the Indonesian equivalence in order to find out the quality of their translation. In order to measure the quality of preposition translation, three categories were referred to, namely: correct translation, correct with revision translation, and incorrect translation. Having analyzed the data, it revealed that most of the students failed to translate complex prepositions such as phrasal verbs. However, most students successfully translated simple prepositions such as noun prepositions and adjective prepositions. From 100% correct translation expected of students, only 44.37% of the total correct translation of prepositions committed by students. While correct with revision, from 100% correct translation with revision expected of students, only 41.75% of the total correct translation that need revision is produced by students. In the meantime, 13.75% of the total incorrect translation is produced by students. It was concluded that students tend to face problems in translating prepositional verbs as they are rarely used by and unfamiliar to students.

In this research, we have analysed the relations between equality of life chances and early childhood care and education (ECCE). During the last decades we have seen a constant growth in socio-economic inequalities world-wide. Yet, in the same period, we have acknowledged an increasing attention, among scholars and policy makers, to early childhood education as a prominent (and consensual) equalizing policy. We critically reviewed this claim, by using a mixed method research, including a theoretical analysis through a critical literature review, quantitative analyses of a longitudinal database, and qualitative focus groups with parents in Mauritius. Findings suggest ECCE can only be an equaliser if accompanied by a change in the educational and social structures. Conclusions highlight the need of focusing further research on detecting complex mechanisms of accumulation of disadvantage in specific groups, and assessing the equalising effects of diverse interventions during early years, including income redistribution. Key words: equality, education, early childhood, Mauritius

Kata kunci: Pekerjaan; perbezaan gender; kemahiran generik; pelajar prasiswazah This paper discusses the generic skills acquired by Malaysian undergraduate students in general and it further explores the differences between genders. A sample of 460 undergraduate students from three public universities in Malaysia was surveyed using an inventory of 54 items. Descriptive statistics such as, t–test and discriminant analysis were employed in analyzing the data. The study found that the undergraduate students generally tend to respond positively to most of the components in prescribed generic skills. Eventhough the sample of female undergraduate students was higher than male undergraduate students, it seemed that the male undergraduate students tended to rate their own abilities higher in almost all skills. Computer skills and communications skills were effective differentiators in explaining genders differences. The research has brought meaningful implications for undergraduate students, employers and policy makers. Key words: Employment; gender differences; generic skills; undergraduate students

For 40 male undergraduate students, rank-order correlations were calculated between scores on the Affect-Cognition Scale, a measure of the conceptualization and differentiation of statements about emotion, and scores on measures of cognitive complexity, dogmatism, field independence, originality, verbal intelligence, and social desirability. This research and Zimring, et al.'s (1970) suggest this scale also measures a process involving the apprehension and selection of incoming information and the ability to create meaning out of these stimuli. Because these properties are involved in many aspects of human functioning, the scale may have considerable utility.

This paper presents a multi-objective optimization models which operating as time processes (2025-2035) for the design of hydrogen supply chain. The feasibility of the models are illustrated through a detail case study of Dalian, China. Furthermore, the case is evaluated with the total daily costs and CO2 emissions reduction constraints. The results show that with the increase of hydrogen demand, considering the environmental factors, SMR are mostly applied in hydrogen production link. Shahekou and Pulandian grids are suitable for the constructions of hydrogen production units. Tank trucks are the main modes of hydrogen transportation. The proposed design models can provide policy-makers with the selection of infrastructures pathways for strategic dynamic hydrogen development planning.

The paper mainly attempts to examine whether co-curricular activities and extra-curricular activities could contribute to the all-round development of the undergraduate students and how these activities may be developed to ensure quality education in a public university in Bangladesh. The study was a qualitative study in which multiple case study and document analysis methods were employed. The study found that the undergraduate students have developed a wide range of personal and social skills including communication skill, organizing skill, presentation skill, public speaking skill and analytical skill by taking part in such activities. The CCAs and ECAs have also facilitated brain development, knowledge acquisition, personality development, and civic development of the students. Hence, the study argued that the CCAs and ECAs have diverse effects to promote allround development of the students. In order to explain how these activities could be developed in a public university, the paper identified several clubs and associations and their key functions. Finally, the paper suggested that the Government and the authority concerned should undertake proper measures for organizing diverse CCAs and ECAs properly and thereby ensure quality education and attain SDGs.

Within Chinese societies, as in western ones, interpersonal relationships, which can also be called social relations, are one of the most important needs for human beings. Within universities, Interpersonal Communication Efficacy (ICE) has been regarded as having a direct influence on the psychological health of undergraduate students. Based upon the theory of Bandura’s self-efficacy and Xie Jing’s ICE, this article compares the extent of ICE between domestic and international students in a Chinese university. The aim is to identify the similarities and differences between the two research groups, and the implications for the stakeholders (students, teachers, policy-makers, and researchers). A case study was conducted using a questionnaire survey. By employing the methods of quantitative analysis, the questionnaires of 390 respondents were analysed by using variance analysis of SPSS software. The findings of the study reveal that Chinese students are more likely to pay attention to interpersonal communication, and are more interdependent than other international students. This implies the importance of teaching communication skills, improving interpersonal communication efficacy, and understanding teaching and learning across cultures within the ongoing internationalisation of education.
