The article reflects the socio-economic importance of oilseeds in the domestic market of consumption, focuses on the indispensability of processing sunflower, soybeans, canola, mustard, flax oil for food and the economic effect of using oilseeds for producers of these products in the agricultural market. . It is established that the production of oilseeds is an integral part of the diet of the population of Ukraine, an important segment of the livestock industry, an important sector of the agricultural economy. It is noted that domestic products of oilseeds processing dominate export markets. It is determined that the innovative direction today is the use of waste from oilseeds processing in the bioenergy industry. The purpose of the article is to to reveal the socio-economic significance of oilseeds in Ukraine and to determine further prospects for development at the present stage of functioning of the domestic agricultural market. Research methods – system generalization, abstract-logical, analysis and synthesis, observation, comparison. Research results. Today, Ukraine in the world market of oilseeds occupies a leading position in terms of their production and exports of processed products. For the last 20 years, the oil and fat industry has dominated the agricultural market of Ukraine in terms of price, profitability, value added, production rates, etc. Production chains have been formed from small farmers to processors of raw materials and exporters of oil and seeds. It is profitable and profitable to produce oilseeds, the resulting products are liquid and in demand in the market. The structure of consumption of sunflower processing products: meal – 25%, oil – 10%; rapeseed: meal – 20%, oil – 0.7%; soy: meal – 35%, oil – 0.3%. So, the vast majority of products are exported. Sunflower is a strategic oil crop in Ukraine, which has "established" itself on production areas as the main oil crop, and the products of its processing are a significant export product. Demand for sunflower oil is growing every year due to increasing demand from importing countries. Rapeseed is gaining momentum in the domestic market of oilseeds due to the growth of its processing. Rapeseed is a crop with a wide range of uses. Sleeveless low-glucosinolate varieties of rapeseed provide high-quality meal, feed improvers. In the agronomic aspect, rapeseed has undeniable advantages in that it provides up to 1.5-2.0 tons of oil from 1 hectare of field. Soybeans are a valuable protein-oil crop that has a wide range of uses: feed production, food, technical purposes, medicine. Soybeans have a fairly high productivity, a wide range of distribution. When growing soybeans, both protein and vegetable oil are obtained. Ukraine consumes about 50 thousand per month. tons of soybean meal and cake. In the general structure of forages soybean meal occupies 23%. Despite the multi-vector application of finished products of oilseed flax, mustard and products of their processing, the dynamics of production of these crops in Ukraine has a downward trend. Mustard seed production in Ukraine is a chaotic phenomenon. Oilseed flax seeds and oil are used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Mustard is of great importance as an oil crop, and mustard oil is not inferior in quality to sunflower. Conclusions. The food industry is shaping the demand for sunflower oil with a high content of oleic acid. The market for high-oleic sunflower is constantly growing and isolating. A promising direction for sunflower is the production of organic sunflower and the emphasis on the quality of the final product. The prospect of expanding the rapeseed market is due to a number of factors: rapeseed is a universal agro-ecological crop that has a beneficial effect on the soil and is an excellent precursor to winter cereals; rapeseed oil is one of the cheapest vegetable oils used in many industries; rapeseed oil is used as the main raw material for biofuel production. Soybean as a unique protein-oil crop with a wide range of uses has the potential to increase production in the domestic agricultural market due to high yields and a wide range. At the same time it is necessary to take into account the leading positions of this culture in terms of production in the world. Regarding oil flax and mustard, we believe that these crops have the potential to increase production. This is due to the fact that oil flax is suitable for growing in all regions of Ukraine, and is also characterized by waste-free production. A similar position on mustard – Ukraine belongs to the traditional world areas of mustard cultivation, and the use of modern technologies of mustard cultivation can give a harvest that is not inferior to the yield of rapeseed.

AbstractProtein lysine acetylation (Kac) is an important post-translational modification in both animal and plant cells. Global Kac identification has been performed at the proteomic level in various species. However, the study of Kac in oil and resource plant species is relatively limited. Soybean is a globally important oil crop and resouce plant. In the present study, lysine acetylome analysis was performed in soybean leaves with proteomics techniques. Various bioinformatics analyses were performed to illustrate the structure and function of these Kac sites and proteins. Totally, 3148 acetylation sites in 1538 proteins were detected. Motif analysis of these Kac modified peptides extracted 17 conserved motifs. These Kac modified protein showed a wide subcellular location and functional distribution. Chloroplast is the primary subcellular location and cellular component where Kac proteins were localized. Function and pathways analyses indicated a plenty of biological processes and metabolism pathways potentially be influenced by Kac modification. Ribosome activity and protein biosynthesis, carbohydrate and energy metabolism, photosynthesis and fatty acid metabolism may be regulated by Kac modification in soybean leaves. Our study suggests Kac plays an important role in soybean physiology and biology, which is an available resource and reference of Kac function and structure characterization in oil crop and resource plant, as well as in plant kingdom.

Brassica napus L. is a vegetable oil crop, commonly known as rapeseed (or canola). It is widely used as a source of oil and protein for food and industrial applications, but also as a remedy, and in a field of attraction or as an ornament due to its diverse flower colors. Every part of rapeseed is useful, even the waste, which could be used to feed animals, or recycled. In this review, the use of rapeseed in these applications is presented, starting with the preparation of oil and protein from the seeds, before their release in the market, to the utilization of natural unprocessed rapeseed. Progress in rapeseed exploitation for food, remedy, energy source, and industrial applications are analyzed to show variability in diverse findings, to provide insights and progressive descriptions of rapeseed usage to other scholars. Moreover, advancements in breeding for rapeseed improvement were described. In the future, strategies could be developed or improved to avoid or decrease crop losses, but also to increase interest in propagating the valuable traits of rapeseed.

The objective of this study was to determine species-associated differences in the seed proximate and fatty acid composition of three traditional oil crop species, hemp (Cannabis sativa), flax (Linum usitatissimum), and camelina (Camelina sativa), and the sowing season of camelina harvested under Lithuanian farming conditions for food use. Camelina seeds had the highest (p < 0.001) content of protein, oil, and sugar contents compared to both dehulled hemp and flax seeds. The amounts of protein and oil in camelina seeds were considerably increased by their summer cultivar, which showed higher (p < 0.001) contents of protein and oil than winter cultivars. However, the highest and lowest (p < 0.001) fiber content was found in flax seeds and camelina seeds, respectively. Camelina seeds showed considerably higher and lower (p < 0.001) proportions of total monounsaturated (MUFA) and polyunsaturated (PUFA) fatty acids, respectively, compared with hemp and flax. The summer cultivar of camelina had higher (p < 0.001) proportions of saturated (SFA) and MUFA and lower proportions of PUFA compared with winter cultivars. Hemp seeds had the highest and lowest (p < 0.001) proportions of PUFA and MUFA, respectively. The n-6/n-3 PUFA ratio in hemp seeds is optimal (3.79), whereas the use of flax and camelina seeds with their n-6/n-3 ratios of 0.28 and 0.48, respectively, can significantly improve this ratio in the overall diet. The properties of oil crop seeds showed that whole seeds of hemp, flax, and camelina are potentially highly beneficial to human health.

Seeds of seven different genotypes of underutilised oil crop Carthamus tinctorius L. (Asteraceae) from alternative oil species collection of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops (Novi Sad, Serbia), were analysed for their protein, oil, fatty acids, tocopherols and total phenolics contents, with a view to test their diversity and potential as an alternative source of these valuable compounds. Seeds of the tested safflower genotypes had total protein (determined by Kjeldahl method) content from 11.5 to 16.0%, while total oil content (determined by Soxhlet method) ranged from 16.8 to 24.5% of dry matter, on average. Two main unsaturated fatty acids in safflower seeds, oleic and linoleic acids, represent approximately 90% of the total fatty acid content (determined by gas chromatography). Linoleic acid was the dominant fatty acid in all genotypes (61.2-80.2% of oil), while oleic acid was in a negative correlation with linolenic acid content and ranged from 9.6 to 29.5% of oil. The amount of saturated fatty acids ranged from 5.5 to 6.05% for palmitic, and 2.1 to 3.5% for stearic acid. Safflower seed is a source of a-tocopherol (determined by high performance liquid chromatography method with fluorescence detection) and its amount ranged from 358.8 to 461.8 mg/L of oil. The content of total phenolics (determined spectrophotometrically) ranged from 4.0 to 6.0 mg of gallic acid equivalents/g of dry weight. This comprehensive screening of valuable chemical compounds of safflower seeds shows the importance of this alternative oil seed crop as a good source of important nutrients and bioactive constituents.

ABSTRACT: Paeonia ostii ‘Feng dan’ is recommended as a new promising oil crop because of the nutrient elements in its seed; however, the development of this new oil crop is now limited due to its low seed setting rate. This study identified ways to improve the cross pollination of Feng dan as the maternal parent, which has been proved to be a suitable oil crop, so as to improve the seed setting rate of ‘Feng dan’, and to predict the functional relationship between pollen vigor and seed setting rate. improving the efficiency of cross pollination. Three major steps were conducted, first, to screen the appropriate method of measuring pollen vigor of the paternal parent, which could have a strong relationship with seed setting rate. Second, to obtain the corresponding seed setting rate by cross pollination. Third, the functional relationship between two indexes was founded which could be used in cross pollination practice. Results indicated that the best paternal parents of ‘Feng dan’ were ‘Feng dan’ cultivars from other different cultivation populations; The most suitable medium concentration for pollen germination was 100~150 g/L sucrose, 0.06~0.08 g/L boric acid, and 50~200 g/L PEG-6000. Both the seed setting rate and the number of seed grains were positively correlated with the pollen activity, and the seed setting rate was negatively correlated with the local precipitation.
