Human factor plays an important role in the implementation of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0). The concept of Industry 4.0 is poorly researched, particularly the social aspect. The authors have conducted a study to determine the level of preparation of employees for the introduction of technological changes. This study involved conducting a survey on a sample of 453 employees based in four organizations within the automotive industry. The respondents were thereafter divided into groups based on age and positions held. The employees’ knowledge of the Industry 4.0 technology was examined, and their openness to change and readiness to increase competence was determined. A causal relationship was found between knowledge and trust in technology. Employees’ fears associated with production automation were discussed. A group of production workers was found to be the least prepared to implement technology changes. Actions to improve the situation and potential consequences of inadequate implementation of this technology were indicated. The findings from this study were compared with the results obtained in other countries. Special attention was paid to the limitations of this study, and we identified the necessity to conduct international comparative research on small, medium and large enterprises.

Spray drying is a rapid, continuous, cost-effective, reproducible, and scalable process for reducing the moisture content of a fluid material into a solid powder. To improve this process in juice powder production, automation can be applied to increase efficiency and productivity. Hence, fuzzy logic is used in this study as a control system in the spray-drying process of concentrated liquid bignay juice into juice powder, where the inlet temperature and carrier agent concentrations affecting the properties of the juice powder, such as moisture content and product yield, are considered. The proposed fuzzy system can provide feedback to the control variables, inlet temperature, and carrier agent concentration based on the moisture content and product yield of the juice powder.

The results of the analysis of the current state of the level of automation of process planning at the enterprises of the machine-building industry are presented in the paper. A comparative analysis of two methods of organizing the work of the technological service of the enterprise is carried out, the analysis is carried out on the example of the studied standard product. An enlarged method of calculating the time spent on process planning are presented. The calculations of reducing labor intensity, expressed in monetary terms, are given. The plan of introduction of artificial intelligence in process planning at the enterprises of machine-building industry are presented. The possibilities of further growth of production automation based on computer-aided design systems and artificial intelligence technologies are considered. The analysis of each stage of process planning allows us to conclude that the digitalization of production will allow us to move to a new level of automation, combining individual automation elements into a single integrated system. In conclusion, performance indicators from the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, increased productivity and reduced labor intensity are noted.

AbstractCyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPS) form the basis of the next industrial revolution. However, many manufacturing companies are reluctant to adopt this disruptive technology due to a lack of know-how and a high project risk. In this paper, we present the development of a design tool that addresses common challenges of CPPS engineering, including the complexity of CPPS and the collaborative, multidisciplinary nature of the engineering process. The tool is based on the combination of existing and emerging reference models, standards and methods from software engineering, production automation and Industry 4.0, embedded in a new model of collaborative engineering for CPPS. The paper describes the foundational concepts of the tool, highlights its innovations, and reports some of the insights gained during its development and its usage in an industrial scenario.

The paper is devoted to the problem of increasing the efficiency of melon processing under limited production automation. Measures for equipment modernization should be carried out in accordance with the operation rules of each individual unit. In production conditions, all equipment, without exception, undergoes this process, while the corresponding documentation is drawn up, confirming the implementation of modernization within a certain time frame. In a competitive market environment, product quality is a causal factor for the sharp increase in risks for food industry enterprises. To produce quality and competitive products, you need equipment that helps to reduce costs. The disadvantages of most melon peeling designs are size instability in the thickness of the rind. The paper presents a solution to this drawback. This was achieved by changing the sharpening angle of the rind cutting knife. Research has been carried out to study the texture properties of “Mirzachulskaya” and “Raduzhnaya” melons. And also experiments on melon peeling based on the planning matrix of mathematical modeling. Based on the experiments, a model of the peeling process was constructed. The key factors to limit peeling waste were optimized. Calculations of the optimized parameters yielded the cutting knife sharpening angle of 40 degrees, a roller gap of 9 mm, as well as an average force applied of 1,375 N∙m. The data obtained can be used as a basis for the modernization of this machine for other melon varieties

The publication proposes a monitoring technology for production automation based on automatic identification technologies, which will allow real-time monitoring of the progress of technological processes, ensure interdepartmental logistics, as well as perform access and identification security functions in production. On the example of one of the carriage depots, typical shortcomings of the organization of the production process, accounting and identification of parts of a railway transport enterprise are considered. The ways and stages of implementation of automatic identification technologies are proposed, in particular, it is indicated that it is advisable to introduce a system for monitoring production processes of railway transport enterprises in stages, starting with bar-coding technologies. The process of monitoring railway transport enterprises, the interaction of subjects and objects of the production process is disclosed in detail.
