An inquiry into the modern scientific sources and the global and Russian trends in the development of human life safety issues pointed to the importance of premedical first aid knowledge and skills. This study considered the organization of educational and extracurricular processes of the graduate department of a technical university aimed at the formation of premedical first aid skills in students. It examined the possibilities of the university divisions and the features of how educational, extracurricular, career guidance and other training work is organized in two structural divisions where the teaching staff of the department takes part in the activity under study. The paper offers examples of the author developments in teaching Health and Wellness (all Bachelor majors and training programs) to Bachelor, Master and Specialist students in groups assigned to the graduate department. The types of work that contribute to acquiring the necessary competencies by students of the Institute of Postgraduate Professional Education were analyzed. The paper shows additional possibilities of the graduate department in the organization of extracurricular and vocational guidance activities, aimed at formation of the premedical first aid skills, and gives examples of activities in which the practical component is particularly important. A distinction of all activities in which the teaching staff of the department participates is that they are held consistently, thus contributing to the consolidation of the learning outcome in students of different categories at a technical university.

This study was conducted at the laboratory of histology and anatomy, Faculty of Medical and Health Techniques/Kufa, and laboratory of post Graduate/ Department of biology, Faculty of Science/University of Kufa, The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of Prazosin hydrochloride on some organs in male rats (Rattus norvegicus), about 25  mature male rats with the average body weight of 210-290gram and three months age were randomly divided into four groups (5rats / group). The first group was given orally with distilled water as a control group and the other groups (second, third, and fourth) were also given orally with three doses of Prazosin (25, 50,75 mg /kg. b.wt.) daily for a period of eight weeks.  At the end of the treatment period (eight weeks), rats were sacrificed, blood samples obtained, and organs lung, and spleen. The histopathological changes of lungs in the rats treated with prazosin at dose 25 mg/kg.b.wt for 8-weeks showed emphysema and dilation in some of the alveoli, hemorrhage distributed inside the tissue of the lung, polymorphic nuclear infiltration due to pneumonia, the pulmonary artery revealed degenerative changes in the tunica media structure (smooth muscle) and hyperplasia in the connective tissue around pulmonary artery and alveoli. These symptoms which occur in rats treated with prazosin at dose 50 and 75 mg/kg b.wt. as well as the histopathological changes of rat lung demonstrate severe hemorrhage, emphysema, thickening in the wall of some alveoli, pneumocyte necrosis (pneumocyte type 1 and pneumocyte type 2), and showed exudate among lung tissue. Histopathological changes of Spleen in the rats treated with prazosin at doses(50 and75)mg/kg b.w. for 8-weeks revealed histopathological changes, which represented by proliferation in the white pulp lead to fused white pulp together and destruction of some components of red pulp, stenosis in many splenic venous sinuses, the germinal artery show thickening in the tunica media and stenosis occurs, degenerative change in many nuclei of lymphocytes, and proliferation in the component of the white pulp.

Alveolar hydatid disease is a rare but potentially fatal parasitic infection caused by Echinococcus multilocularis. To the best of our knowledge, only few cases have been reported from India till date. We present 6 cases of pathologically proven alveolar hydatid disease with review of imaging findings. The objective of this case series was to share our experiences of pitfalls in diagnosis of alveolar hydatid disease. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted in Post Graduate Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Our study was conducted between 6th January 2017 to 22nd May 2019. A total of 6 patients were taken up for study. The patients were evaluated clinically and investigated using the relevant imaging modalities. Diagnosis was confirmed by histopathologic examination following core biopsy of lesion. Results. There were two males and four females with most of patients in age group of 20 to 40 years. Imaging findings in our cases suggest that typical radiological appearance of alveolar hydatid disease can be summarized as an irregular hypoattenuating mass lesion having typical calcifications (can be peripheral, as well as central) with tiny cystic components.

Background: The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of facet joint triamcinolone steroid injection in combination with lignocaine in chronic low back ache by measuring the reduction of pain intensity. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted at the post graduate Department of Orthopedics, GMC Srinagar, Kashmir from June 2016 to September 2017. All patients with chronic low back ach (for three months or more) meeting the inclusion criteria were included. Pre pain was assessed using visual analog scale (VAS). Under image intensifier each facet joint was be infiltrated with a mixture containing 10 mg of steroid and 2 ml of 1% lidocaine. Follow ups were done at six weeks’ time and improvement was measured using the same grading system(VAS) to confirm the effectiveness of the procedure. Treatment was considered effective if the patient score below 4 on VAS after treatment with facet joint steroid injection. Results: In our study 100 patients with chronic low back ache were analyzed. The mean age was 56 years with SD ±22.91. The percentage of male patients were 52% while 46% were female. Mean duration of low back ache was 8 months with SD ±3.37. Facet joint steroid injection was efficacious in 67% patients and was ineffective in 33% patients. Conclusion: Facet joint steroid injection in combination with lignocaine is effective in reducing chronic backache and discomfort to the patients.

Pellet gun used by law enforcement agencies have the potential to cause grevious or life threatening injuries as metallic projectiles fired at high speeds from pellet gun have potential to damage air containing organs like lungs which occupy a large portion of chest cavity and lie in close approximation to chest wall. Thoracic injury overall is the third most common cause of trauma following injury to the head and extremities. Objective. The objective of this study was to evaluate lung pellet gun injuries in patients of a conflict zone by a so called non-lethal weapon. Methods. The study was conducted in post graduate department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, Government Medical College, Srinagar Jammu and Kashmir. Our study was performed between the 6th January 2019 to the 22th May 2019. A total of 40 patients with pellet injuries were taken up for study. Inclusion criteria were patients with pellet gun injuries without any immediate life threatening injury like head injury; patients willing to be part of study. Radiographs of all the patients were studied.  Whenever there was suspicion of severe injury, CT scan was done. We obtained thin-section axial CT scans (0.625– 1.25 mm) with multiplanar reformation with an interval of 3-5 mm. Results. All of the patients were males with most of patients in age group of 20 to 30 years. About 14 patients out of 40 had lung injuries. The most common pattern of lung injury was pneumothorax followed by pulmonary hemorrhage. In conclusion, a so called non-lethal pellet gun used by law enforcement agencies has the potential to cause lung injuries which can sometimes be lethal to life especially when  fired from short distance.
