This research uses a qualitative approach through case studies. Social solidarity and social movements are two concepts that are used as a basis for data analysis. There are two differences between the SPJ and JIC movement patterns. The SPJ movement can be categorized as a conventional social movement with an orientation towards creating collective and cross-class social awareness. Whereas the JIC movement is a kind of new social movement which using the basics of the collectivity to understand norms and religious values. While the similarity of the two movements is always to prioritize the distribution of human values that are sustainable. The determining factor for the formation of a collective movement depends not only on the material resources available, but rather on the strength of ideas and cultural resources. That is about the articulation and collective construction of a new relationship (or redefinition) between the person as an individual and the person (as an ulama or cleric, citizen, and family). The SPJ movement carries the value of nativism while the JIC movement is a representation of the growth of new social movements that arise because of the spread of religious values in the social, cultural, economic, and political dimensions as citizens. Keywords: Pandemic Covid-19, Solidaritas Pangan Jogja (SPJ), Jaringan Lintas Iman           Tanggap Covid-19 (JIC), Social Capital, Social Movement

Major concerns centered on the governance of the working sector stems from issues and challenges confronted in the protection of workers’ rights and welfare. This case study discusses the challenges faced by the workers in the Guimaras mango industry and the role of the local government in addressing the gaps in the protection of the workers’ rights and welfare. Findings from the 35 key informant interview with the workers show that there are major gaps concerning workers’ rights and welfare that still needs to address despite the efforts of the government to provide the necessary program, projects, and legislation for the industry. The local government has pursued public services on agricultural support and mechanisms for addressing some of the needs of the mango producers and local legislations on mango production, harvesting, and consumption to protect them and the industry. Major workers’ rights and welfare concerns are mainly on hazardous and dangerous work practices, the undependability of the mango industry as a primary source of income, low wage, and the unstable contractual-hiring of mango workers during the mango season— all have to undermine just to meet the supply needed as demanded by the market. To infer, the workers are essential key players of the mango industry; thus, their rights and welfare need to be appropriately protected. In addressing social justice, fairness, and equality, local governments, humanitarian groups, and helping organizations are encouraged to center their agenda on advancing the rights, interests, and welfare of the sector.

This article analyzes the phenomenon of socio-political “crime”, which occursand develops in the state life of Indonesia. The form of this phenomenon is socialnegativism; a concept of which views the different socio-cultural attributes apartfrom itself as negativity. The ideology of this concept resulted in personalitydeterioration through the trendsetting events with a background of ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relation on social media. This portrait of the socialworld is very much in contradiction with the character or identity of Indonesianswho uphold the values and norms of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. Thepersonality deterioration politics aims at destroying the integrity of politicalcontestants, both generally and in particular, therefore, it can widen the road to itssuccess in gaining power supremacy. The emergence of personality deteriorationpolitics is due to the weakness of civil society in Indonesia. On one side, theIndonesian public still depends significantly on the state, and on the other hand,it does not have full freedom to avoid the nepotism as a common practice in thecountry. This weakness of Indonesian civil society has resulted in the inability ofmulticulturalism to develop in the country. The particular situation and condition have caused the more common practice ofsocial negativism and personal deterioration. These pathogenic social phenomena, bothmicro and macro, has become a serious threat towards the life of the nation, which aims atcreating prosperity and serenity for all its citizen.
