AbstractResearch on impact in student achievement of online homework systems compared to traditional methods is ambivalent. Methodological issues in the study design, besides of technological diversity, can account for this uncertainty. Hypothesis This study aims to estimate the effect size of homework practice with exercises automatically provided by the ‘e-status’ platform, in students from five Engineering programs. Instead of comparing students using the platform with others not using it, we distributed the subject topics into two blocks, and created nine probability problems for each block. After that, the students were randomly assigned to one block and could solve the related exercises through e-status. Teachers and evaluators were masked to the assignation. Five weeks after the assignment, all students answered a written test with questions regarding all topics. The study outcome was the difference between both blocks’ scores obtained from the test. The two groups comprised 163 and 166 students. Of these, 103 and 107 respectively attended the test, while the remainder were imputed with 0. Those assigned to the first block obtained an average outcome of −1.85, while the average in the second block was −3.29 (95% confidence interval of difference, −2.46 to −0.43). During the period in which they had access to the platform before the test, the average total time spent solving problems was less than three hours. Our findings provide evidence that a small amount of active online work can positively impact on student performance.

Based on the experience of the researchers taught the subject of Economic Mathematics many students who have not been able to solve the problem solving. One alternative that can be used to solve the problem is by using Polya steps. When solving a mathematical problem, each student has a different way of thinking. The difference is possible because of differences in student cognitive style. The cognitive styles used in this research are Field Independent cognitive style and Field Dependent cognitive style. The material chosen in this research is the demand function, the Bid Function, the Savings Function and the Taxation Function. This research is a descriptive research with qualitative approach which aims to describe the problem solving ability of student mathematics using Polya steps in terms of cognitive style of FI and FD. Subjects in this research are students of VI semester of Mathematics Education Program. Technique of taking research subject is by purposive sample. The results showed that FI subject understood the problem well. In the planning step, the FI subject can analyze the information received. Subjects use previously learned information and solve problem-solving given to the problem as planned and check back on each question. The subject of FD can not receive information and understand the problems that exist in the problem and can not process information/do not understand the purpose of the problem. In the planning step, the subject of FD is unable to think how to solve the problem and is not accustomed to rechecking


The purpose of this research is to provide innovations to physics education lecturers in using physics learning media based on Macromedia Flash applications in lectures as a learning medium and students can improve their problem-solving abilities in solving problems in other fields.. Also, motivating physics education lecturers to use technology in conducting lectures in the room. The target of this research is in the form of products resulting from the development of learning media based on Macromedia Flash applications. The resulting product is expected to: (a) improve the ability of problem-solving in students, (b) motivate physics education lecturers to use technology in conducting lectures in the room. This research method is Reseach and Development by using a development model that consists of five stages : (1) preliminary investigation, (2) design, (3) realization/construction, (4) test, evaluation, and revision. Preliminary results of this study are the feasibility of developing learning media based on Macromedia Flash applications to improve students' problem-solving abilities on the subject matter of passive electronics can be seen based on the assessment or validity of the material experts obtained a mean score of 3.55 with a valid category. For the assessment or validity of the media, experts obtained an average of 3.63 with a valid category. The effectiveness of the results of the development of learning media based on Macromedia flash applications to improve students' problem-solving abilities on the subject matter of passive electronics can be seen based on inferential analysis using the test paired t–test was obtained tcount = 10.60 dan ttable = 2.05 with a significant level of 5%, df = 29. The results of these calculations show that tcount > ttable which means that the difference is due to the provision of different behaviours every time they conduct a pre-test evaluation before there is treatment and post-test after there is a treatment.

Concerns about Covid 19 by notaries in doing the Deed. This study aims to examine the Implementation of the Notary Position in Doing Deeds Before and during the Covid-19 Pandemic Period, and to Assess Obstacles in the Duties of Notary Positions in Doing Deeds during the Covid-19 Pandemic Period). The type of research used by the author is descriptive type research. Descriptive research is a problem-solving procedure investigated by describing or describing the current state of the subject and object of research based on existing facts. The results of the research in the Assignment of Notary Positions in Doing Deeds Before and during the Covid 19 Pandemic Period differed from the difference in the health protocol and the presence of the appeasers based on SK Number 65/33-III/ PP-INI/2020 dated March 17, 2020, regarding the matter referred to In the main point of the letter, the Central Management of the Indonesian Notary Association (PP-INI) and all of its staff expressed concern over the massive development of the spread of Covid-19 which directly affected the implementation of the duties of a Notary public in providing services to the public and in this regard, this PP urges all members to follow the health protocols set by the government to overcome the spread of Covid-19.Keywords: CoronaViruses, Notary, Decree.

Most Canadian engineering students take a computing course in their first year that introduces them to digital computation. The Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board does not specify the language(s) that can or should be used for instruction. As a result, a variety of languages are used across Canada. This study examines which languages are used in degree-granting institutions, currently and in the recent past. It also examines why institutions have chosen the languages that they currently use. In addition to the language used in instruction, the types and hours of instruction are also analyzed. Methods of instruction and evaluation are compared, as well as the pedagogical philosophies of the different programs with respect to introductory computing. Finally, a comparison of the expected value of this course to graduates is also presented. We found a more diverse landscape for introductory computing courses than anticipated, in most respects. The guiding ethos at most institutions is skill and knowledge development, especially around problem solving in an engineering context. The methods to achieve this are quite varied, and so are the languages employed in such courses. Most programs currently use C/C++, Matlab, VB and/or Python.

This study was aimed to evaluate the Malay proficiency among students in Form Two especially non-Malay students and its relationship to academic achievement History. To achieve the purpose of the study there are two objectives, the first is to look at the difference between mean of Malay Language test influences min of academic achievement of History subject among non-Malay students in Form Two and the second is the relationship between the level of Malay proficiency and their academic achievement for History. This study used quantitative methods, which involved 100 people of Form Two non-Malay students in one of the schools in Klang, Selangor. This study used quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and statistical inference with IBM SPSS Statistics v22 software. This study found that there was a relationship between the proficiency of Malay language among non-Malay students with achievements in the subject of History. The implications of this study are discussed in this article.

Teaching materials by integrating local culture makes easier for students to understand the subject matter in the learning process. The aims of the study is to measure the effectiveness of teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai in improving the students problem solving abilities. The research method was a quasi experimental which use non equivalent control group in the pretest posttest design. The sample of study were students of Senior High School grade X in Binjai that consisted of experiment group which used teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai and control group that used student handbooks. Teaching materials are tested by material experts and technology experts to ensure the quality of teaching materials. Data collection was conducted through test. The results showed that the teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai effective in improving students problem solving abilities in the experimental group students based on the results of N gain value was 0.67 which has medium criteria. It means teaching materials based on agricultural local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai can be used as one of the teaching materials in learning activities.

Review of the monograph indicated in the subtitle V.T. Ryazanov. The reviewer is critical of the position of the author of the book, believing that it is possible and even necessary (to increase the effectiveness of General economic theory and bring it closer to practice) substantial (and not just formal-conventional) synthesis of the Marxist system of political economy with its non-Marxist systems. The article emphasizes the difference between the subject and the method of the classical, including Marxist, school of political economy with its characteristic objective perception of the subject from the neoclassical school with its reduction of objective reality to subjective assessments; this excludes their meaningful synthesis as part of a single «modern political economy». V.T. Ryazanov’s interpretation of commodity production in the economic system of «Capital» of K. Marx as a purely mental abstraction, in fact — a fiction, myth is also counter-argued. On the issue of identification of the discipline «national economy», the reviewer, unlike the author of the book, takes the position that it is a concrete economic science that does not have a political economic status.

The aim of this research is to describe creative thinking process of linguistic type student in biology problem solving. This research is conducted to linguistic intelligence type of subject at SMPN 6 Kota Jambi. SL the subject was selected based on the aim of the research. Data collection is conducted by interview and a modified think aloud method. Data is analyzed based on creative thinking process purposed by Polya.The result of this research shows that SL could find and arrange the given problems and collect data correctly and appropriately. The problem solving steps is done systematically to the end of problem solving process. The last steps problem solving, SL does checking while doing scratching to make sure that the written answers meet her need.

This book argues that, as a pervasive dimension of human existence with theological implications, rhythm ought to be considered a category of theological significance. Philosophers and theologians have drawn on rhythm—patterned movements of repetition and variation—to describe reality, however, the ways in which rhythm is used and understood differ based on a variety of metaphysical commitments with varying theological implications. This book brings those implications into the open, using resources from phenomenology, prosody, and the social sciences to analyse and evaluate uses of rhythm in metaphysical and theological accounts of reality. The analysis relies on a distinction from prosody between a synchronic approach to rhythm—observing the whole at once and considering how various dimensions of a rhythm hold together harmoniously—and a diachronic approach—focusing on the ways in which time unfolds as the subject experiences it. The text engages with the twentieth-century Jesuit theologian Erich Przywara alongside thinkers as diverse as Augustine and the contemporary philosopher Giorgio Agamben, and proposes an approach to rhythm that serves the concerns of theological conversation. It demonstrates the difference that including rhythm in theological conversation makes to how we think about questions such as “what is creation?” and “what is the nature of the God–creature relationship?” from the perspective of rhythm. As a theoretical category, capable of expressing metaphysical commitments, yet shaped by the cultural rhythms in which those expressing such commitments are embedded, rhythm is particularly significant for theology as a phenomenon through which culture and embodied experience influence doctrine.

The work ‘Corruption Measurements: Caught Between Conceptualizing the Phenomenon and Promoting New Governance Agenda?’ is a qualitative study based on reviewing the literature available on the subject. It starts with the introduction that explains the evolution of the idea of measuring corruption, its relevance to governance and associated theoretical issues. The topic, ‘Evolution of Corruption Measurements’ gives an overview about different corruption indices. While the topic ‘Challenges to Corruption Measurements’ briefly introduces the challenges faced by corruption measurements, the topics ‘Conceptualizing Corruption’ and ‘Methodological Issues’ give insight into the contentions faced by corruption measurements from different theoretical perspectives. Also, explained in these sections are how the corruption measurements have conceptualized corruption over the period of three decades; and how do they keep evolving their methods in order to become more relevant in policy advocacy. Issues associated with data aggregation also are explained in-depth in this work. This work demonstrates that though continuous methodological evolution and empirical research have helped corruption measurements to improve their acceptance level, the gap that exist between corruption control framework and practice will remain a challenge to address in future if corruption measurements do not genuinely account the contextual realities.
