Abstract This study was conducted at the Animal Production Research Station - College of Agriculture - Al-Muthanna University, as 5 males and 5 females from three types of local chicken strains were used in this experiment according to the color black, brown and white, after the age of sexual maturity, and some blood characteristics were studied (Red blood cells, Packed cell volume(pcv)) and some biochemical characteristics such as concentration (glucose, cholesterol, and total protein) in blood serum. During the study period, birds were fed a diet containing 17.5% protein and 2814 kcal/kg feed. The results showed no significant differences in red blood cells between the strains (black, brown, and white), while males significantly outperformed females in the numbers of red blood cells (P≤0.05). While significant differences were found between the strains in the studied characteristics of (cholesterol, glucose, and total protein), as males outperformed females in the concentration of glucose and cholesterol, while the concentration of total protein decreased in males compared to females.

The aim of the study is to increase the productive qualities of broiler chickens by including ultrafine silicon oxide into main diet. During the experiment, the biological effect of ultrafine silicon oxide on broiler chickens was estab-lished. Use of ultrafine SiO2 particles for poultry feeding contributed to an increase in the number of red blood cells and content of total protein and albumins. By the end of the experiment, the number of red blood cells in birds in-creased by 17.43% (P≤0.001) – in the blood of birds of the first experimental group, 16.51% (P≤0.01) – the second one, 20.80% (P≤0.001) – the third experimental and 21.71% (P≤0.001) – the fourth experimental group, compared with the indicator of the control group. The amount of total protein in blood serum of chickens of the first and the second experimental groups increased by 1.36-1.39 %, in the third and fourth ones there was a significant (P≤0.05) increase by 5.45 and 3.05%, respectively. The blood glucose content of chickens in the experimental groups is higher by 8.04-23.65% compared to this indicator with ones in the control group. During the experiment feed con-sumption per 1 kg gain of live weight decreased: in the first experimental group by 3.00 % in the second by – 0.50 %, the third – 6.00 % the fourth– by 4.50 %, compared to this with the control group. The chicken’s vibrancy of the first the experimental group was higher by 4.77 %, the second – by 6.20 %, the third – by 19.25 % and the fourth– by 11.59% than in the control one. Consequently, when converting the feed energy into the body energy of a broiler chicken, the energy conversion coefficient of the experimental group of poultry is higher than that of the control one by 7.16-21.76 %. Thus, the most optimal dose for further research was determined.

Background: Maternal factors are determinants of birth outcome which includes birth weight, haematological indices and mode of delivery of their babies.Objectives: To determine the impact of parity and gestational age of hypertensive mothers on some neonatal variables.Methods: A hospital based cross-sectional study of measurement of neonatal variables (birth weight, red blood cells and mode of delivery) among hypertensive mothers and their controls was conducted over a period of six months. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences program (SPSS), version 20.Results: There were statistically significant differences in means between the neonates of the hypertensive group and non-hypertensive group for maternal age (t =1.61, p = 0.002), baby weight (t =2.87, p < 0.001), haemoglobin (Hb) (t =4.65, p = 0.010) and packed cell volume (PCV) (t =4.75, p = 0.009), but none for gravidity (t =1.95, p = 0.927)For all subjects, there was poor correlation between gestational age and variables; birth weight , haemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), nucleated red blood cell (nRBC) and parity. Likewise, parity poorly correlated with variables; age, birth weight, Hb, PCV, and nRBC. There was a statistically significant association between mode of delivery and hypertension (χ2 =53.082, p <0.001) but none with having a family history of hypertension (χ2 =1.13, p = 0.287).Conclusion: Parity and gestational age of mothers with hypertension have no impact on birth weight and red cells when compared with their non-hypertensive counterparts. However, mothers of babies delivered by elective and emergency caesarean section were about 2-3 times more likely to be hypertensive than those that delivered through spontaneous vertex delivery.Keywords: Hypertension; neonate; gestational age; parity.

The effect of the probiotic preparation Vetom 1.2 on the basis of Bacillus subtilis VKPM B-10641, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens VKPM B-10642 and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens VKPM B-10643 in different doses on the correlation interactions between the parameters of turkey hemoglobin exchange, blood erythrocytes and blood red blood cells direct and total bilirubin, total protein and serum albumin was studies. Correlations were calculated using Spearman formula, the reliability of correlations was checked by Student. The formulation was used for turkeys once a day for 30 days in doses of 12.5; 25; fifty; 75 and 100 mg / kg body weight. It was found that Vetom 1.2 in minimal doses leads to an inverse correlation between iron and total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, total protein and albumin, an increase in the concentration of the formulation leads to the disappearance of this effect with a gradual subsequent decrease in this indicator. Vetom 1.2 in doses up to 50 mg / kg leads to an inverse correlation between the concentrations of hemoglobin and direct bilirubin, total protein and serum albumin, at a dose of 75 mg / kg there is a direct correlation between these indicators, and at a dose of 100 mg / kg returns a negative correlation. The probiotic preparation Vetom 1.2 leads to a direct dependence of the concentration of bilirubins (total and direct) in serum on the concentrations of hemoglobin and red blood cells when used in most doses, except 75 mg / kg, which reduces the correlation.

In response to invasion by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the self-regulatory immune system attempts to restore the CD4+ count fluctuations. Consequently, many clinical covariates are bound to adapt too, but little is known about their corresponding new optimal set points. It has been reported that there exist few strongest clinical covariates of the CD4+ count. The objective of this study is to harness them for a streamlined application of multidimensional viewing lens (statistical models) to zoom into the behavioural patterns of the adaptive optimal set points. We further postulated that the optimal set points of some of the strongest covariates are possibly controlled by dietary conditions or otherwise to enhance the CD4+ count. This study investigated post-HIV infection (acute to therapy phases) records of 237 patients involving repeated measurements of 17 CD4+ count clinical covariates that were found to be the strongest. The overall trends showed either downwards, upwards, or irregular behaviour. Phase-specific trends were mostly different and unimaginable, with LDH and red blood cells producing the most complex CD4+ count behaviour. The approximate optimal set points for dietary-related covariates were total protein 60–100 g/L (acute phase), <85 g/L (early phase), <75 g/L (established phase), and >85 g/L (ART phase), whilst albumin approx. 30–50 g/L (acute), >45 g/L (early and established), and <37 g/L (ART). Sodium was desirable at approx. <45 mEq/L (acute and early), <132 mEq/L (established), and >134 mEq/L (ART). Overall, desirable approximates were albumin >42 g/L, total protein <75 g/L, and sodium <137 mEq/L. We conclude that the optimal set points of the strongest CD4+ count clinical covariates tended to drift and adapt to either new ranges or overlapped with the known reference ranges to positively influence the CD4+ cell counts. Recommendation for phase-specific CD4+ cell count influence in adaptation to HIV invasion includes monitoring of the strongest covariates related to dietary conditions (sodium, albumin, and total protein), tissue oxygenation (red blood cells and its haematocrit), and hormonal control (LDH and ALP).

The extreme thinness of the pulmonary blood-gas barrier results in high mechanical stresses in the capillary wall when the capillary pressure rises during exercise. We have previously shown that, in elite cyclists, 6–8 min of maximal exercise increase blood-gas barrier permeability and result in higher concentrations of red blood cells, total protein, and leukotriene B4 in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid compared with results in sedentary controls. To test the hypothesis that stress failure of the barrier only occurs at the highest level of exercise, we performed BAL in six healthy athletes after 1 h of exercise at 77% of maximal O2 consumption. Controls were eight normal nonathletes who did not exercise before BAL. In contrast with our previous study, we did not find higher concentrations of red blood cells, total protein, and leukotriene B4 in the exercising athletes compared with control subjects. However, higher concentrations of surfactant apoprotein A and a higher surfactant apoprotein A-to-phospholipid ratio were observed in the athletes performing prolonged exercise, compared with both the controls and the athletes from our previous study. These results suggest that, in elite athletes, the integrity of the blood-gas barrier is altered only at extreme levels of exercise.

Some hematological values, blood total protein, protein fractions, and minerals such as calcium and phosphorus of takhi, which are now being reintroduced in Khustain natural park, were measured. There were 8.3 million red blood cells and 8000 white blood cells in 1 mm3 whole blood of takhi reintroduced in Khustain natural park, and hemoglobin was 179.6±3.2 g/l. As well, total proteins, calcium and phosphorus of takhi were 67± 0.6 g/l, 2.1±0.31 mmol/l, and 1.1±0.2 mmol/l respectively and they were similar to those in Mongolian horses. Red blood cells (RBCs) from cord blood contain fetal hemoglobin that is predominant in newborns and, therefore, may be more appropriate for neonatal transfusions than currently transfused adult RBCs. Post-collection, cord blood can be stored at room temperature for several days before it is processed for stem cells isolation, with little known about how these conditions affect currently discarded RBCs. The present study examined the effect of the duration cord blood spent at room temperature and other cord blood characteristics on cord RBC quality. RBCs were tested immediately after their isolation from cord blood using a broad panel of quality assays. No significant decrease in cord RBC quality was observed during the first 65 hours of storage at room temperature. The ratio of cord blood to anticoagulant was associated with RBC quality and needs to be optimized in future. This knowledge will assist in future development of cord RBC transfusion product.

The aim of the research is increasing the productive indicators of replacement sheep of different genotypes by im-proving the interior indicators. To conduct the research, three groups of ewe hoggs with 20 heads each were formed: 1 group – ewe hoggs born from stud rams and Akzhaik ewes (AKSHM x AKSHM); 2 group – ewe hoggs born from stud rams of the North Caucasian breed and Akzhaik ewes (SK x AKSHM); 3 group – ewe hoggs born from Kuibyshev stud ram breed and Akzhaik ewes (KB x AKSHM). Blood parameters, live weight at the age of 4 and 8 months, hair cut at the age of 8 months was studied of animals of these groups. It was found that blood parame-ters of the ewe hoggs of different genotypes have significant differences and these affect the indicators of growth intensity and hair cutting. The content of red blood cells and hemoglobin of ewe hoggs from group 3 was higher by 0.551012/l and 9.32 g/l, respectively, than of ones from group 1. The biochemical blood parameters of crossbred ewe hoggs from groups 3 and 2 at 4 and 8 months of age in terms of total protein by 2.84 and 4.73 g/l, glucose – by 0.86 and 1.02 mmol/l exceeded the results of purebred Akzhaik ewe hoggs. Crossbreds of groups 2 and 3 in the 8-month age were superior to their herdmates of Akzhaik breed in live weight by 3.04 and 2.74 kg, and the washed wool cut – by 0.18 and 0.24 kg, respectively.

A complex preparations «Kahadin + OV», «Kaplaestrol + OV», «Karafest + OV» and «Karafand + OV», which have antioxidant, anti-hypoxic and membranoprotective properties thanks to nanobiomaterials.Were tested drug «Karafest + OV Zn», at doses of justification which came out of the daily needs of animals in the components of the drug, which for sheep and goats in the last 7-8 weeks of pregnancy (per animal), carotene – 0.28–0.5 mg/kg, or 12–26 mg, phytoestrogens – 0,0175 mg/kg or 0.61-1.22 mg, zinc – 1-1.08 mg/kg, or 54-70 mg.The content of substances in 1 ml «Karafest + OV Zn» according to the technical specifications are: carotene - 10 mg (1,2-2,6 ml), phytoestrogens - 1 mg (0.6-1.2 ml), zinc carbonate – 2 mg, ortovanadatе europium activated gadolinium – 0.00015 mg.The final dosage was determined by the scheme – 0.35–2.1 ml/animal оr 0.01–0.03 ml/kg body weight/day.The drug «Karafest + OV Zn» asked orally with food daily for a month to projected pregnancy (140 days of pregnancy).The positive effect of the drug «Karafest + OV Zn» at the homeostasis parameters in sheep, including normalization of serum vitamin A, zinc and total protein; prooxidative-antioxidant system containing serum – malondialdehyde, catalase, superoxide dismutase and erythrocyte – malondialdehyde, catalase, restored glutathione and oxidative-antioxidant value;  system state  oxygen  metabolism  –  the number of red blood cells and hemoglobin concentration of 2.3-dyphosphoglyceratis.Thus, the use of the drug «Karafest + OV Zn» increased content in blood serum, vitamin A (by 16.2%), zinc (by 23,4%), total protein (by 11.5%), malondialdehyde (by 17.5%), catalase (by 24.7%), superoxide dismutase (by 17.9%); in erythrocytes: (by 24.4%), catalase (by 23.9 %) and reduced glutathione (by 18.2%) and hemoglobin (by 23.5 %), the actual number of red blood cells (by 21.8%), the concentration of 2,3-dyphosphoglyceratis (by 22.2%) and normalized prooxidant-antioxidant ratio.

This study was aimed to find out the synergistic effect of ginger and propolis some productivity and physiological traits of Awassi ewes. The study was conducted in field the Department of Animal Production - College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad Al-Jaderia, during 14/01/2016 - 03/27/2016, using 12 Awassi ewes with ages from 9 -11 months old ,average weight of 31 kg, The results showed a significant increase in the glucose for concentration (P <0. 05) in the ginger group compared with other groups where .significant increase in the concentration of blood sugar(81.0 mg / 100 ml of blood)  in the first month and continued to the second month,The level of cholesterol increase (65.90) in the second month of the group of ginger, triglycerides, Low-density lipid had significant increase in the group ginger , significant increase in  propolis group with high density lipid (54.00) , total protein , albumin and GPT enzyme shows significant increased effect on the contrary GOT enzyme was increased significant in mixture group in the second month (13.00IU / liter), while the level of hemoglobin and the Packed cells volume and the total count of white blood cells and red blood cells did not show any significant differences(normal value ) , It can be conclude from this study that the addition of 25 g ginger to concentrated diet / head / day is the best treatment.
