Labor often prompts unpleasant, fearful, or, further, traumaticexperiences due to the pain it entails. Scientific evidence suggests thatpain during labor can be managed using two methods; pharmacologicaland non-pharmacological. Pharmacology is a method of using drugs, whereas non-pharmacologic is without the administration of drugs. The nonpharmacologicalmethod is known as complementary and alternativetherapies, one practice is through massage. Massage frequentlyperformed to reduce labor pain is counterpressure. The purpose of thisstudy is to investigate the effect of counterpressure massage therapy asa measure to reduce labor pain. The method used is a narrative review.Article exploration was carried out in several databases, which arePubmed and Science Direct. In the case of Gray Literature, it wasaccessed via Google Scholar. Specific keywords were employed forliterature search and articles were selected by considering inclusion andexclusion criteria. The article selection process was elaboratedtransparently in the PRISMA Flowchart. From the article selectionprocedure, 14 articles were identified and fulfilled the criteria. Thus, articles were critically analyzed (Critical Appraisal) using the MixedMethod Appraisal Tool (MMAT). The review concludes thatcounterpressure is a massage performed by applying continuouspressure to the patient's sacral with the heel of the hand or fist of thehand. Counterpressure massage can be done in a straight stroke or smallcircular stroke. This technique is proven to be sufficient in relieving backpain during labor. The recommendation suggested is based on the 14articles reviews carried out that a common problem occurring in laboringwomen is physiological pain experience during childbirth so that it mayprovoke bad experiences for mothers, especially fear and anxiety thatmay lead to prolonged labor.Labor often prompts an unpleasant, fearful, or, further, traumatic experiences due to the pain it entails. An integrative literature review of identified scientific evidence, published from January 2000 to December 2008, of the utilisation of reflexology as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) modalities to promote well-being and quality of life in adults with chronic diseases was done to facilitate nurses to give informed health education during comprehensive nursing care to patients with chronic diseases. Selected accessible databases were searched purposefully for research articles (N = 1171). Pre-set inclusion criteria were applied during the study selection process. The methodological study quality was reviewed and appraised with appropriate tools from the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) and the American Dietetic Association’s (ADA) Evidence analysis manual (n = 21). Evidence extraction, analysis and synthesis of studies (n = 18) were done through the evidence class rating and level of strength as prescribed in the manuals of ADA and CASP. Findings indicate statistically significant reduction in the frequency of seizures in patients with intractable epilepsy, an improvement of sensory and urinary symptoms associated with multiple sclerosis and clinically significant reduction of anxiety and pain in patients with cancer and fibromyalgia syndrome. These findings can be utilised by nurses to inform patients with these chronic diseases about alternative ways of treatment. Geselekteerde toeganklike databasisse was doelbewustelik deursoek vir navorsingsartikels (N = 1171).

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia. The most common complication of DM is diabetic neuropathy which causes an increase in further complications, including diabetic ulcers and often leads to amputation. In Indonesia, about 15% of DM patients have diabetic ulcers, 30% have a risk of amputation and 32% mortality. There are several types of wound care techniques, but the most used are the wet to dry and moist techniques. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of diabetic ulcer treatment with wet to dry and moist techniques. The research method used is thematic analysis: a simplified approach, by searching for articles using the Google Scholar database, EBSCO, Science Direct, JSTOR. The data selection process uses the PRISMA Flow Diagram and the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist. The keywords used were "Wet to dry dressing AND moist dressing AND diabetic ulcer stage III", and "wet to dry dressing AND moist dressing AND grade III diabetic ulcer". The results showed that the moist wound dressing technique was more effective than wet to dry dressing in the treatment of diabetic ulcers, in terms of cost, dressing change, absorbency, basic ingredients and ingredients, pain caused and duration of wound healing. This study recommends that future researchers can conduct quantitative research on diabetic ulcer patients using both treatment techniques.

BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Diabetes Melitus merupakan gangguan metabolik dengan karakteristik hiperglikemia. Introduction: Tajikistan’s dramatic shift from a high to a low fertility society has taken place over a little more than two decades. While some fertility beliefs remained the same throughout the rapid economic and political transitions of Tajikistan, other beliefs may have changed to respond to the financial realities of the newly independent and Central Asian republic, such as having fewer children. The objective of this review was to describe and analyze the state of family planning in the Republic of Tajikistan from Soviet period (1929-1991) until 2017.Methods: The review is based on materials obtained from various sources including Google Scholar and PubMed, relevant to family planning in Tajikistan, including government policies, open-access nationally representative data, journal articles, and program reports, identified through a selective search of Google Scholar and PubMed databases, and the grey literature. Conclusion: This narrative review presents the history of family planning in Tajikistan, outlines an understanding of the health system context as it relates to family planning, and analyzes the latest national family planning policy (2017). The authors suggest further research is required to (a) understand the beliefs and practices related to family planning; and (b) define strategies to address the issue of unmet need of family planning services.

Low carbohydrates diets (LCDs), which provide 20–120 g of carbohydrates per day, have long been used as therapeutic options in the treatment of severe obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus and other morbid conditions, with good results in terms of weight loss and control of the main metabolic parameters, at least in the short and medium term. According to the caloric content and the macronutrient composition, we can classify LCDs in hypocaloric, normoproteic diets [such as the Very Low-Calorie Ketogenic Diet (VLCKD) or the protein-sparing modified fasting (PSMF)], hypocaloric, hyperproteic and hyperlipidic diets (e.g., Atkins, Paleo diets…) and normocaloric, normo-/hyperproteic diets (eucaloric KD), the latter mainly used in patients with brain tumors (gliomas) and refractory epilepsy. In addition to LCD diets, another interesting dietary approach which gained attention in the last few decades is fasting and its beneficial effects in terms of modulation of metabolic pathways, cellular processes and hormonal secretions. Due to the impossibility of using fasting regimens for long periods of time, several alternative strategies have been proposed that can mimic the effects, including calorie restriction, intermittent or alternating fasting, and the so-called fasting mimicking diets (FMDs). Recent preclinical studies have shown positive effects of FMDs in various experimental models of tumors, diabetes, Alzheimer Disease, and other morbid conditions, but to date, the scientific evidence in humans is limited to some opens studies and case reports. The purpose of our narrative review is to offer an overview of the characteristics of the main dietary regimens applied in the treatment of different clinical conditions as well as of the scientific evidence that justifies their use, focusing on low and zero-carb diets and on the different types of fasting.

Hope can be defined as a forward-looking expectation that can serve as a protective factor to adversity. This work sought to investigate hope in the context of health, disease and death processes from the concept of creative adjustment that originates from a phenomenological perspective developed by Fritz Perls. Through a qualitative narrative review, we sought to define what is being published about hope in addition to hospital psychology in the databases Scielo, PsycINFO and Google Scholar. Materials published from the period 2001 to 2018 were used. The materials found were described and discussed through the precepts of Gestalt Therapy. From the theoretical reflections carried out it can be understood that hope can serve as a way of creatively adjusting to a critical period of serious illnesses or terminality, since it becomes a support for facing reality. It is hoped that this work will enable the health professional to make reflections, redirecting the look to healthy workings in health and illness processes in order to strengthen the potentialities and the recovery of spontaneous and creative responses of their patients.

Probiotic supplements have been suggested as therapy for a range of health problems in children. This article aims to map the literature around probiotic use in well children, with a focus on prevalence. Using a scoping review methodology, we searched MEDLINE, CINAHL, HealthSource and SAGE, as well as Google and MedNar for grey literature, in July 2018. We followed the PRISMA extension for scoping reviews and used the Crowe Critical Appraisal Tool to assess articles for quality. Seven studies including a total of 24,742 children were identified. The prevalence of probiotic use ranged from 4% to 51%. The most common predictors of use were parental probiotic use, and higher maternal education and income. Only one small study reported the strains of probiotics used. Neither the reasons for using probiotics, nor parental perceptions of efficacy were adequately explored. Most parents obtained their information about probiotics from the Internet or family members. Despite the number of children in the community reported to have used probiotics, there are few well-designed and/or well-reported studies of prevalence, and inadequate data concerning the strains of probiotics used, reasons for their use and their perceived efficacy.
