Job responsibilities are significantly accomplished with sufficient and appropriate labor, although it differs in various fields. A major challenge in health facilities involves the ability to balance the number of staff and workloads to ensure quality, effective and efficient performance. Developing countries continue to struggle, in terms of fulfilling these objectives, mainly due to limited resources and budget. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the workload at the Pharmacy of Universitas Padjadjaran Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM Unpad) using WHO’s workload indicators of staffing needs (WISN) technique. This study also applied a descriptive cross-sectional design and conducted the WISN methodology between May-September 2020. Subsequently, observations, discussions and interviews were used to generate relevant information from the hospital’s workforce and its 2019 records. The results showed the availability of 7 employees and an annual estimate of 97,440 minutes in work duration. As a consequence, the manpower demands for inpatient-outpatient and logistic-purchasing departments were 4 and 2 persons, respectively. The resulting WISN ratio was 1.17 (> 1), indicating an inadequate workload and staff number. Based on the WISN analysis, it is concluded that the pharmacy is overstaffed under the existing workload conditions. Therefore, employee redistribution and the development of pharmaceutical satellites towards enhancing effectiveness and efficiency are significantly recommended.

In line with current industrial growth which requires labor as the dominant element that manages raw materials, machinery, equipment and other processes in the workplace. Each workplace contains a variety of potential hazards that can affect the health of the workforce or can cause occupational diseases that are work stress. The purpose of this study is to describe the relationship between work duration and noise and work stress in paving block production unit workers at UD. Rizki Assila Ulfa Lubuk Pakam Deli Serdang Regency 2020. This research uses analytical descriptive method using cross sectional design. The population in this study were 30 paving block production unit workers with the sampling technique using Total Sampling. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square statistical test with α = 0.05. The results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between work duration and noise with work stress on paving block production unit workers at UD. Rizki Assila Ulfa Lubuk Pakam Deli Serdang Regency in 2020, namely the length of work p value (0.005) <α (0.05), and noise p value (0.031) < α (0.05). Based on the results of research it is recommended to workers that workers condemn personal protection by using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as ear plugs that can protect the ears from noise caused by machines, so as to reduce exposure to noise that can interfere with health.

Background: Perchloroethylene is one of the main ingredients used in the dry cleaning industry. Continuous inhalation of Perchloroethylene particles can cause genetic damage that can be marked by the appearance of micronucleus. Micronucleus formation of excessive buccal mucosal is one of the early signs of malignancy in the oral cavity. Objective: To determine the effect of Perchloroethylene exposure toward frequency of micronucleus formation in buccal mucosal epithelial of dry cleaning employees in Banyumas Regency. Materials & methods: This study uses cross-sectional design with primary data that is the preparation of buccal mucosal smear from 22 dry cleaning employees as exposed group and 22 subjects are not exposed to Perchloroethylene as control group. The buccal epithelial cells are collected using a spatula and then smeared on an object glass and colored using Giemsa. Micronuclear frequencies are calculated per 1000 cells using a light microscope. Results: The difference of micronucleus frequency between two groups (p = 0.000) is obtained. The duration of work has correlation with medium correlation strength to the forming frequency of micronucleus formation, whereas age has strong correlation to the forming frequency of micronucleus formation. The correlation between age and work duration with the forming frequency of micronucleus formation is significant (p = 0.000 and p = 0.07) Conclusions: There is influence of Perchloroethylene exposure toward frequency of micronucleus formation. The duration of work and age are significantly correlated with the forming frequency of micronucleus formation. J MEDICINE JUL 2019; 20 (2) : 59-62

Poultry dust exposure may increase workers’ health risks, particularly in the form of respiratory allergic reactions. This study aimed to identify mold content of the dust and to analyze the association between dust exposure, IgE level, history of allergy, and symptoms of allergy. This study used cross sectional design with total samples of 33 workers. The data were analyzed using chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression. This study found 93.33% growth of Aspergillus sp., 69.7% work duration > 3 years, 84.8% high IgE levels, 18.2% history of allergy, and 69.7% symptoms of allergy. Dust exposure and history of allergy did not show significant correlation with symptoms of allergy while IgE levels had significant correlation with p-value of 0.036. Workers with high IgE-level were 15.986 times more likely to have symptoms of allergy (p-value 0.028). Aspergillus sp. as dust allergen potentially increased IgE levels and might become the base for facilitation of early and independent preventive and promotive efforts of workers’ health.

In this study we used a quasiexperimental, cross-sectional design with six cohorts differing in phase of treatment (pretreatment, posttreatment, 2-year posttreatment) and treatment type (psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy) and investigated scores on 39 Rorschach-CS variables. The total sample consisted of 176 participants from four mental health care organizations in The Netherlands. We first examined pretreatment differences between patients entering psychoanalysis and patients entering psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The two treatment groups did not seem to differ substantially before treatment, with the exception of the level of ideational problems. Next, we studied the outcome of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy by comparing the Rorschach-CS scores of the six groups of patients. In general, we found significant differences between pretreatment and posttreatment on a relatively small number of Rorschach-CS variables. More pre/post differences were found between the psychoanalytic psychotherapy groups than between the psychoanalysis groups. More research is needed to examine whether analyzing clusters of variables might reveal other results.
