Prosthodontic treatment aims to restore the chewing function (rehabilitation) and to prevent tooth decay and bone resorption (preventive and conservative). As an example, treatment by overdenture and Richmond crown. Overdenture is a partial or complete removable denture covered and supported by one or more teeth, the tooth roots and/or dental implants. Richmond crown is fixed denture by post and crown system, in which the post part goes into the root canal and its crown covers the entire of original tooth crown surface. By retaining the original teeth and/or roots, it could improve the stability and retention of the denture, and defend proprioseptic of teeth and vertical dimensions. To provide information about preventive prosthodontic treatment and prevention by using overdenture and Richmond crown. Case Report: A 50 year old woman only has 44 teeth on the mandible which is indicated for the overdenture construction and loss teeth 13, 14, 17 and 27 on the maxilla with deep caries in teeth 22 which is indicated for a removable partial denture (RPDs) construction by Richmond crown gear 22. On an early stage study, printing models is done. Then treatment of the root canal on teeth 22 and 44, followed by root canal preparation, core construction (cast post) and Richmond crown on tooth 22 and bareroot preparation on tooth 44 for overdenture construction. The procedure followed by printing, recording bite to insertion. Choosing treatment either overdenture or Richmond crown is very important because it could mantain remain original teeth, thus it can help to improve the retention and stabilization.

A partial removable denture is a device that allows the patient to recover from a partial edentulism. This case report describes the realization of a chrome–cobalt partial removable denture by using two different realization methods: (1) analogic framework and (2) hybrid framework. This allowed us to compare the stability, retention as well as clasp quality of both the products and to highlight their respective advantages, disadvantages, and limitations.

The making of removable denture is performed by a dental laboratory. To facilitate the identification, according to Kennedy classification, classes are divided onto groups, the Kennedy class I, II, III and IV. To suit with the needs of the dental laboratory tasks commonly done, priority are necessary for common cases and should to be taught to students of Dental Health Technology Diploma. In Surabaya, research of various cases of removable partial denture with the various Kennedy classifications has never been done before. This study was to analyze the pattern of service for the removable partial denture manufacture in dental laboratory at Surabaya (2011 – 2013). The research is an observatory analytic. The population is all dental laboratories located around the campus of the Faculty of Dentistry Airlangga University Surabaya. The sample was the whole population is willing to become respondents. Sampling by total sampling. The method of collecting data using secondary data from a dental laboratory in Surabaya from 2011 until 2013. The note is cases removable denture according to the classification of Kennedy that Kennedy Class I, II, III and IV. Also of note kinds of materials used to make the denture base that is heat cured acrylic resins, thermoplastic resins and metals coherent. The data is a compilation table charting the frequency until needed, then analyzed using cross tabulation. Mostly denture type is flexible type and the least is metal framework. Most cases by classification Kennedy is followed by class II class III and class II and more recently is the fourth. In conclusion, in 2011 and 2013 the manufacture of removable partial dentures according to the classification of Kennedy Class III is the most common in both the upper arch and lower jaw, followed by Class II, Class I and Class IV. In 2012 which is the highest grade III followed by class II, class IV and class I. The denture type most used is a flexible denture, followed acrylic denture and the last is the metal framework.

In making removable denture, some aspects must be considered: retention, stabilization, support, comfort, andaesthetic. Retention plays an important role in the success of a removable denture. Retention can be obtained from theundercut area, or friction of the denture’s components to the abutment or abutment. Clasp as a retainer, both of metalcasting and wire have been frequently used in the removable partial denture. The clasp has some shortcomings in itsusing, namely color of the metal can sometimes interfere with the aesthetic of the wearer and cannot be placed on teeththat have experienced extensive caries. Telescopic crown as retainer has several advantages, which can be used oncrown of abutment that has experienced extensive caries or tooth that will be an abutment but have endodontic-treated.On telescopic crowns, retention is obtained from the friction between the primary crowns against secondary crown thatserves as a retainer. This case report describes two cases of a removable denture with a metal framework using atelescopic crown on one tooth that serves as a retainer in the case of one-side free-end edentulous.

Background Among many options to replace missing teeth, dental implant is widely popular but willingness to have implant treatment and its success depends on patients’ knowledge and expectations as well as the care, skill, and judgment of clinicians. Objective The main objective of this study was to assess awareness, expectation and source of information about dental implant among complete and removable partial denture wearers and to find association between them. Method A questionnaire consisting of 6 close-ended questions was used to assess the level of knowledge and awareness among patients visiting Dental Outpatient Department of Dhulikhel Hospital regarding dental implants as a treatment option for replacing missing teeth. Chi-square test was used to study the association between demographic variables and awareness about implantation. Statistical software SPSS 20.0 was used for data analysis. Result Our results revealed significant difference in age (p=0.001), education level (p=0.03) and occupation (p=0.004) in awareness of dental implant and no significant difference in gender (p=0.567), compared between complete and removable partial denture wearers. Due to lack of awareness, lower educational status and advanced age the patients responded that they “did not know “ in answer to almost all the questions. Conclusion The awareness level of dental implant was low among complete and removable denture patients and this was associated with a low level of education and lack of accurate information about dental implants.

Metal framework denture is needed in patient with tooth loss accompanied by the presence of periodontal disease inthe remaining tooth is needed. This denture primarily maintains the existing teeth post periodontal treatment. Theuse of metal framework in this case can help to prevent tooth movement and maintain tooth position afterperiodontal treatment. Therefore, the success of the treatment can be achieved because the metal characteristic ismore rigid when compared to other dental materials. This paper discusses the use of frame denture in patient afterperiodontal treatment on the remaining teeth in lower arch. It can be concluded that removable denture with metalframe combined with splint must be done on mobile teeth, to decrease mobile teeth and to preventincreasing of periodontal tissue damage after periodontal treatment.

ABSTRACT Aim Surgical removal of tumors in the mandible leads to discontinuity of bone which requires surgical reconstruction of the defect to provide a suitable tissue foundation for an acceptable prosthesis. At times when reconstructive surgeries are not possible, prosthetic rehabilitation is a successful alternative. In the present article, prosthetic rehabilitation using neutral zone technique has been discussed in the patient of marginal mandibulectomy. Methods The fabrication procedure of the removable partial denture was modified to achieve adequate retention and stability in a 22-year-old female patient with the anterior mandibulectomy. Polished surface contours and tooth positioning were recorded with modified neutral zone technique and mandibular teeth were characterized to provide esthetics. Conclusion The modified neutral zone technique enhanced the stability of the partial denture. A marked improvement in esthetics, function and psychology was noticed. Background: The temporomandibular joint is very complicated in its function and requires complex treatment when an anomaly accurs. An example of the joints anomaly is clicking sound. Clicking resulted due to the changes at the joints component. One of the changes can be caused by an alteration of occlusal pattern. Extracted tooth especially posterior tooth can trigger the alteration of occlusion pattern which affects the joints anomaly. Purpose: the amplitude and frequency of the clicking sound of the patientwith missing one or two posterior tooth such as the first molar of the first and second molar, on both sides of the mandible, prior to or after wearing removable partial dentures is measured using a modified ultrasonographydevide and were analyzed by Anova and LSD test. The result: shows that the clicking sound on temporomandibular joint which consists of the amplitude and frequency, ha,ppens to patients who lose their posterior molar teeth before and after the use of removable partial denture. Conclusion: the clicking sound temporomandibular joints is defferent from the one on patient with missing posterior tooth. Losing two molar teeth will cause stronger clicking sound than one molar tooth will. The use of partial removable denture to regain the occlusion willreduce the clicking sound.
