To ascertain the level of knowledge among primary school teachers towards the management of traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) in school and to determine the preference among teachers regarding the education tools that can be used to increase awareness and knowledge among them. A total of 150 teachers from primary schools in three different districts were included in the study and they were given self-administered questionnaires to be filled. The validated questionnaire was distributed randomly in the selected schools. The questionnaire included two scenarios comprising of tooth fracture and avulsion. Questions regarding awareness and management of these scenarios were asked. All 150 participants answered the questionnaire; of these 74% were females 26% were males. 64% of the participants had received tertiary education. Although 70% of teachers had obtained first aid training, only 9.3% of them had received training regrading dental injuries. About 53% of participants knew the correct answer for the appropriate response to fractured tooth and only 35.3% managed to correctly answer the question related to appropriate response to an avulsed tooth. Only 38.7% knew about appropriate rinsing solution and a mere 4.7% were familiar with proper storage media. Even though the teachers have poor knowledge regarding management of dental injuries, it is reassuring to know that 93% of them are keen on further training and awareness. More educational programmes need to be introduced to empower the teachers with the relevant knowledge required to deal with dental emergencies.

Abstract Essential nutrition action (ENA) is one of the most effective preventive actions for combating nutritional problems in young children. There is, however, a paucity of evidence about mother's knowledge and attitude regarding key ENA messages. The objective of the present study was to assess the knowledge and attitude of mothers towards key ENA messages and associated factors. A representative sample of 563 mothers of children from birth up to 24 months in mainly rural North Ethiopia was included in the study. The findings showed that 66⋅4 % of the mothers have a good knowledge and 68⋅9 % have a good attitude. In the multivariable analysis using logistic regression, mothers who attended secondary school or higher education were six times more likely to have a good knowledge (AOR 6⋅1; CI 2⋅945, 12⋅719) compared with those who are illiterate. Besides, women who resided in an urban area (AOR 2⋅2; CI 1⋅14, 4⋅25), attended antenatal care (ANC) visits (AOR 3⋅7; CI 2⋅421, 5⋅742), attended postnatal care (PNC) visits (AOR 2⋅2; CI 1⋅37, 3⋅4) and heard nutritional-related information (AOR 1⋅9; CI 1⋅14, 3⋅49) were found to have a good knowledge. On the other hand, mothers who attended ANC visits were almost four times (AOR 3⋅9; CI 2⋅7, 5⋅8) more likely to have a good attitude towards key ENA. Mothers who delivered at health institutions and who attended PNC visits were also more likely to have a good attitude. In conclusion, the present study determined the level of knowledge and attitudes of mothers about ENA and several factors that influence mother's knowledge and attitude regarding ENA.

Abstract Background Preeclampsia has the greatest impact on maternal mortality which complicates nearly a tenth of pregnancies worldwide. It is one of the top five maternal mortality causes and responsible for 16 % of direct maternal death in Ethiopia. Little is known about the level of knowledge and attitude towards preeclampsia in Ethiopia. This study was designed to assess the knowledge and attitude towards preeclampsia and its associated factors in South Gondar, Northwest Ethiopia. Methods A multicenter facility-based cross-sectional study was implemented in four selected hospitals of South Gondar Zone among 423 pregnant women. Multistage random sampling and systematic random sampling techniques were used to select the study sites and the study participants respectively. Data were entered in EpiData version 3.1 while cleaned and analyzed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed. Adjusted odds ratio with 95 % confidence interval were used to identify the significance of the association between the level of knowledge on preeclampsia and its predictors. Results In this study, 118 (28.8 %), 120 (29.3 %) of the study participants had good knowledge and a positive attitude towards preeclampsia respectively. The likelihood of having good knowledge on preeclampsia was found to be low among women with no education (AOR = 0.22, 95 % CI (0.06, 0.85)), one antenatal care visit (ANC) (AOR = 0.13, 95 % CI (0.03, 0.59)). Whereas, those who booked for ANC in the first trimester (AOR = 6.59, 95 % CI (1.43, 30.33)), gave the last birth at a health facility (AOR = 2.61, 955 CI (1.03, 6.61)), and experienced a complication during previous births (AOR = 3.67, 95 % CI (1.78, 7.57)) were more likely to be knowledgeable on preeclampsia. Conclusions No formal education and not attending four ANC visits were associated with poor knowledge of preeclampsia. While participants who visited health facilities during the first trimester, who gave birth at health facilities, and those who experienced a complication in previous births were more likely to be knowledgeable on preeclampsia. Improving the numbers of ANC visits and encouraging facility delivery are important measures to improve women’s knowledge on preeclampsia. Health education regarding preeclampsia risk factors, symptoms, and complications shall be emphasized.

ABSTRACTBackground: Life is a process of continuous change from birth to death. One of the changes that are unavoidable and will face a woman is menopausal. Results of preliminary studies have been conducted in the village Kunduran showed that of 10 postmenopausal women (aged 45-55 years) is known that most do not know about menopause.Objectives: The general objective of the study was to determine the knowledge and attitude of mothers facing menopause. Interest in particular know the characteristics of respondents by education, employment, knowledge level and attitude of the mother in the face menopause.Methods: The study was a descriptive study using cross sectional method, the type of design that survey. Population is the mother menopause aged 40-45 years. Samples obtained through purposive sampling techniques, descriptive analysis with frequency destribusi.Results: The characteristics of respondents in terms of maternal education level premenopausal with basic education as much as 56 respondents (70%). While the work of the mother is a housewife 43 respondents (53.8%). The level of knowledge of mothers premenopausal good category 47 respondents (58.8%). Background: Adolescence is a critical period and is associated with physical and psycho-social changes induced by puberty, which builds personality, behaviour, and future health of the adolescents. Thus, the aim of the study was to find out the knowledge and attitude regarding pubertal health of adolescence girls.Methods: A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted in Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s secondary level schools. A total of 183 adolescent girls were selected using probability simple random sampling from 5 schools out of total 43 schools which were also selected by simple random sampling technique. Data was collected by using structured self-administered questionnaire for knowledge and likert’s scale was used for attitude regarding pubertal health. Results: Study findings revealed that 61.4% of the students belonged to early adolescence (11-14) age group with the mean age 14.27±1.33 years. Majority (80.3%) had moderate level of knowledge and around half (48.6%) had positive attitude. Knowledge and attitude varied with the respondents’ level of education (p=0.001), relation to sibling (p=0.013) and source of information by elder sister (p=0.022), teachers/school (p=0.001).Moderately positive correlation was found between knowledge and attitude which was highly significant (r=0.395, p<0.001).Conclusions: Majority of respondents had moderate level of knowledge and half of the respondent had positive attitude regarding pubertal health. Findings of the study emphasizes on improvement in education of adolescent girls which can help uplift health status and minimize vulnerability to health issues of pubertal health. Background: It is a concern in meeting patients’ needs with a high prevalence of dementia across the world. However, dementia care has always been neglected. Nurses are expected to be capable of being able to care for people with dementia. Purpose: This study aims to determine the level of knowledge and attitude on dementia care and their association among nurses at a private hospital. Methods: This is a quantitative cross-sectional study. A self-administered questionnaire using Dementia Knowledge Assessment Scale (DKAS) and Dementia Attitude Scale (DAS) were adopted in the study. In this study, a simple random sampling method was used to recruit 102 nurses. Results: Findings show that nurses have poor knowledge (M=23.59, SD=6.79) but with a positive attitude (M=98.99, SD=12.08) on dementia care. There is no association between level of knowledge and attitude in dementia care (p> .05) among nurses. Conclusions: The educators, policy makers and administrators in healthcare settings are recommended to provide a support system and training strategy for nurses to improve their knowledge in caring for patients with dementia. Future study may be considered to examine the influencing factors and barriers related to dementia care.

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus is an endocrine disorder, characterized by hyperglycemia that is, high blood sugar levels. This is caused due to a relative or absolute insulin deficiency, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Lack of insulin, either relative or absolute affects metabolism or breaking down of carbohydrates, proteins, fat, water and electrolytes leading to an accumulation of glucose in the blood. Till the earlier part of this century, it was believed that there was no effective treatment for this condition, until the discovery of insulin, in 1922, by Fredrick Banting and his student, John McCleod1 Design: A descriptive survey approach was used for assessing the knowledge and attitude of Diabetes Mellitus patients regarding Self-Administration of insulin injection. Participants: The target population consisted of 60 Diabetic patients who were on Insulin Therapy within the age group of 40-70 years. Half of the patients were admitted and a few were attending the OPD services in Nootan General Hospital at visnagar. Interventions: Booklet information was given to the patients. Tool: Structure questionnaire was used to assess the level of Knowledge regarding Self-Administration of insulin injection and used Likert’s attitude scale to assess attitude regarding Self-Administration of insulin injection among diabetes mellitus patients. Results: In this study. The total 60 sample under the study were 38.3% sample 61-70 years, 20% sample 51-60 years, 20% sample 41-50 years 8.3% sample below 40 years of age. Distributed sample according to gender were 73.3% are male and 26.7% are female. Distribution of sample based on education is 1.7% graduated 3.3% had higher secondary, 21.7% completed secondary and 73.3% sample had completed primary education as regards 53.3% samples were unemployed 23% self-employed. According to family history 36.7% had family history of DM 63.3% had no family history. The level of knowledge regarding self-administration of the insulin injection were 81.7% had average knowledge, 13.3% had poor knowledge and only 5% had good knowledge regarding self-administration of insulin injection. The overall mean value of the diabetic patients knowledge regarding self-administration of insulin injection was 14.45 with a standard deviation of 3.326. This finding showed that the most of the diabetic patients were not much aware of self-administration of insulin injection. The level of attitude regarding self-administration of insulin injection was assessed were, only 18.3% had most favorable and 81.7% had a favorable attitude towards self- administration of insulin injection. It revealed the mean percentage of the positive attitude, which was 69.05 with a standard deviation of 5.585. These results showed that most of the diabetic patients were not having a most favourable attitude towards self-administration of insulin injection. Conclusion: The finding indicates that the Booklet information was a suitable and effective method of instruction for updating and enhancing the knowledge and attitude among patients.

Purpose Nurses are at the front line in facing the COVID-19 outbreak and are at increased risk of becoming infected and might be the source of transmission in health-care facilities and the community. The purpose of this study is to assess the knowledge and attitude toward COVID1-19 among nurses in acute care settings in Jordan. This is expected to help with the global initiative to combat the COVID-19 epidemic. Design/methodology/approach A cross-sectional design was used to survey nurses' knowledge and attitude of COVID-19 among Jordanian nurses working in acute care settings. Findings The grand mean of knowledge items response was 8.94, implying that respondents possessed a high level of knowledge. The overall attitude score was positive for the participants, with a mean score of 5.93. Moreover, the results showed a significant relationship between knowledge and attitude scores. Originality/value The findings suggest that nurses in Jordan showed a high level of knowledge and a positive attitude toward COVID-19 during the outbreak's rapid rise period. This study showed specific aspects of knowledge and attitudes that should be focused on in future awareness and educational programs to promote all preventive and safety measures of COVID-19.

Aims: The study measured the level of knowledge and attitudes towards malaria and examined associated factors among caregivers of under-five children. Study Design: The study was community-based, descriptive cross-sectional. Place and Duration of Study: The study was carried out in Buea Health District (BHD) from February to June 2020. Methodology: Data were obtained through face-to-face interviews with the caregivers of under-fives. The above mean scores were used to determine the level of knowledge. The attitude levels were measured by using 3-point Likert scales. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify risk factors associated with knowledge and attitude. SPSS software version 20.0 was used for analysis. Results: Out of the 390 respondents, 69.5% of them had a neutral attitude. Meanwhile, 27.7 % of participants carried a favorable attitude towards malaria and only 2.8 % of them had an unfavorable attitude, Caregivers of under-five children who scored below the mean score were 25.1 % which was considered having poor knowledge and above the mean score was 74.9% which was considered good knowledge. In the multivariable logistic analysis, caregivers with a primary school level of education were 4.1 times (AOR = 4.1, CI = 1.486-11.102) times more likely of receiving a high malaria knowledge score as compared to those with no formal education. Factors associated with caregiver's attitude level towards malaria risk were educational level and marital status which showed significant associations in the univariate analysis Conclusion: Caregivers of under-fives displayed a good knowledge of malaria risk factors. However, in these endemic areas for malaria, caregiver attitude was found to be unenthusiastic and unresponsive, and this poses additional challenges in reaching the malaria elimination goal. Thus, suggesting that educational messages during the campaign should be contextual to reach out to local communities to trigger a positive behavioural change.
