Objective. The most important source of stabilization and further development of society is the social activity of citizens. Young people have the greatest potential for this activity. In this regard, it is interesting to study the factors and conditions of social activity of students. Background. For Russia, which experienced a socio-political cataclysm at the end of the last century and is in the stage of “recovery”, the social activity of young people is a source of stabilization and further development. In this regard, it is interesting to study the factors and conditions of social activity of students. Study design. The interrelationships of the level of students’ mental development were investigated, firstly, with the level of acceptance of such moral standards as trust and honesty, and, secondly, with such parameters of social interaction as its significance for the subject and the choice of the method of reaction in a particular situation. Participants. 268 students of three universities wich differ by the level of urbanization of the locality (megapolis, regional centre, district city). The average age of subjects is 19-20 years. Measurements. Test of mental development of adults, questionnaire of trusting relationships, questionnaire of legitimization of dishonesty, method of diagnostics of social interaction (M.K. Akimova, etc.). Results. It is revealed that the level of formation of such mental operations as the ability to generalize, classify, think by analogy and inductively, operate with numbers, is statistically significantly interrelated with the level of trust in oneself and in public institutions, the degree of anxiety in social interaction, as well as with the degree of prevention of such manifestations of dishonesty as theft. The erudition of the subject is interrelated with trust in the state and public institutions. The assessment of the subjective significance of the situation of social interaction and the level of activity in it are also interrelated with certain characteristics of the mental development. Conclusions. There is a cognitive component in the form of the formation of certain mental operations, erudition and the level of general mental development of the subject in the forming of trust and honesty, as well as in assessing the subjective significance of the situation of social interaction and determining the level of activity in it.

This paper reviews the conceptual apparatus and the genesis of local food, on the basis of definitions and with respect to legal conditions, as well as the popular ways of interpretation of local food and scientific research performed by different centers and institutions – both domestic and foreign. On the basis of that, the paper presents the author’s own proposition concerning the abovementioned issue. The aim of the paper is to present the genesis and the definition of local food in the perspective of sustainable consumption. While conducting the research, the scientific literature concerning the subject was reviewed, and the findings were documented with available statistical and market information. The research showed that public institutions see the potential of local food and hope that it can drive the development of rural areas in the European Union. Local food is an alternative approach to the way in which food consumption can be turned into a sustainable one. Informed and responsible consumers, who are aware of their own limitations and value tradition, provide some new quality to the society (as they constitute a specific form of social capital), what translates into bigger local food production possibilities and is the basis for the further development of sustainable consumption.

English has been used widely in almost all international forums. In line with the rapid use of social media, in this case Instagram, English is also widely used as the language of self-expression by most of its users, both native and non-native speakers. At least, this is what happened in Indonesia. Most of Indonesian Instagram users, especially youth, use English to write their caption. This phenomenon is important to explore since there is a belief that by actively using a foreign language, it will reduce the sense of nationality within oneself, and even it will lead to the loss of one’s identity. Identity today becomes a very important issue since it shows the sense of belonging of oneself in his/her social interaction. The thing is that the social interaction model in social media is much more complex than the interaction model in the real life. In social media, most of the users do not merely want to show who they really are. They tend to have certain motive on how they can be accepted and appreciated by other users. In other words, they want to be the subject of attention instead of being themselves. Therefore, the concept of identity becomes blurred. Based on the previous description, through the direct observation method, this research aims to seek whether the use of English influences the identity of Indonesian users.

The relevance of the study of the social activity of young people presented in the article in the context of the subject-activity approach is determined by the need for psychological justification of programs meant to implement it in the significant areas of public life. The purpose of the study is to identify the subject and activity characteristics that determine the social activity of the students, depending on the type of its orientation. The study was conducted on a sample of young people aged 15-25 years ( n = 229). The two types of social activity were identified: the one aimed at the realization of personal aspirations and interests (“for own benefit”) and the one aimed at the achievement of socially significant goals (“for others’ benefit”). The subject characteristics of these types of activity were studied using the personality self-determination test by B. Sheldon as modified by E.N. Osin, the questionnaire for the study of the subjectivity structure by E.N. Volkova and I.A. Seregina, the methodology “The Level of Development of Personality Subjectivity” by M.A. Schukina. The activity self-organization questionnaire by E.Yu. Mandrikova and the author’s questionnaire, the reliability of which is confirmed by the results of positional analysis, were used to study the activity characteristics. It is shown that the social activity of young people is largely due to activity characteristics. The social activity aimed “for own benefit” is more highly determined by the subjective characteristics of the person, compared to the activity aimed “for others’ benefit”. The universal determinants of the social activity of students, which do not depend on the types of its orientation and have a common predictive potential, are revealed. These include the level characteristic of the personality’s subjectivity “creative - standard” and the characteristics of activity - “initia- tive in activity”, “solution of socially-oriented tasks” and “self-organization (through external means)”. In the structure of the activity the factors “activity content”, “social responsibility” and “satisfaction with the result of activity” were also attributed to the sustainably expressed determinants of the social activity aimed “for own benefit”. The activity characteristics “striving for success, self-affirmation”, “striving for confidence, self-improvement”, “satisfying own needs”, “complying with social requirements”, “insistence”, “focusing on the present”, as well as the characteristic of the non-situational subjectivity of the personality “freedom of choice and responsibility for it” became the determinants of activity aimed “for others’ benefit”.

The paper discusses the problem of personality development at the early stages of ontogenesis. The key idea is the L.S. Vygotsky’s concept of an infant as “the most social creatures” and perception of oneself as an infant in the form of “pre-we”. The development of Vygotsky’s views is considered in the concept of communication of M.I. Lisina, as well as in the studies of the primary pre-personal formation, the essence of which is the child’s experience of himself as a subject of communication and social interaction. The data obtained within the framework of the cultural-historical approach are compared with the results of foreign studies of socio-cognitive development, psychology of attachment and social interaction. We presented an evidence of a variety of innate manifestations of social activity, the social competence of a child, starting from the first months of his life, his readiness to perceive an adult and enter into social interaction. We consider the “inter-subjectivity” — a congenital psychological mechanism that ensures the infant’s ability to social interaction; a mutual predisposition to interaction in a mother-child pair. We offer an interpretation of L.S. Vygotsky ideas about the social situation of infant development taking into account modern data of Russian and foreign psychology.

Abstract A fashion show is a form of social activity which is worth examining on several counts, including in terms of the preparation of garments, the space in which they are presented, and the way of presenting them. In this study, the fashion show is evaluated within the boundaries of social semiotics, which is widely accepted as a subfield of semiotics. Single garments are not presented in the show. Instead, a collection of garments created by a fashion designer in the context of a particular theme and style is presented. The collection made by the designer also forms the discourse of the designer. There are fashion models who present the collection of garments in front of clients. Although the models are on the podium, they are, in fact, in the position of the voice of the fashion designer. It is the models who present the elements of discourse on the podium to the recipients. Accordingly, this paper first scrutinizes the theory of social semiotics. In this context, the place of the subject, object, and the discourse are examined. Then the obtained data is used for the analysis of situations in the show.

Based on the analysis of the public conscience as demonstrated in the context of private and social behaviour control patterns, the authors identify mechanisms and principles of normative regulation. For the purpose of the analysis, the authors compare the platforms of Russian and non-Russian researchers and make conclusions about the subject-object nature of moral oughtness. The authors use an integrative approach to morals as ontology-based normative regulation, rather than a will-constraining norm. A critical review of the works by Russian and Soviet philosophers reveals that, when considering the issue of the correlation between the moral and the social, Russian/ Soviet philosophy tends to emphasize and, not infrequently, intentionally exaggerate the determination of the moral oughtness by the social. The authors hold that one of the key aspects of moral determination is the source and the foundation of the moral claim, which, in turn, involves a number of interrelated issues: first, the correlation of the subjective and the objective in the moral plane; second, the correlation of the personal free will and choice of action and behaviour in the framework of moral function.
