Background: Appendicitis is an inflammation that occurs in appendix vermiformis and is the most common cause of abdominal pain. Appendicitis is also an indication of emergency abdominal surgery in children. The incidence of child appendicitis is 1.66 per 1000. If the diagnosis is delayed, 97% of cases of acute appendicitis will lead to perforation with a mortality rate of 5.1 per 1000 cases. The most common etiology of appendicitis is lymphoid tissue hyperplasia which represents one of the immune responses to infection. One of the infection factors was the poor personal hygiene level. This research aimed to discover personal hygiene level description in pediatric non complicated appendicitis. Methods: This research used descriptive quantitative observational research conducted in Moewardi General Hospital Surakarta. The sampling method was total sampling in appendicitis patient with, 33 respondents. Assessment in patients was calculated using personal hygiene scale questionnaire consisting of 12 items. The independent variable in this research was personal hygiene level, and the dependent variable was the incidence of pediatric appendicitis. Data were analyzed statistically for descriptive analysis. Results: The result showed that 51.5% of patients with pediatric appendicitis had poor personal hygiene.  Conclusions: Pediatric appendicitis patient had poor personal hygiene level.

Atherosclerosis is nowadays generally accepted as an inflammatory disease but the mechanism of its origin and development have not yet been fully clarified. The present review focuses on the role of the local immune system as one of the key players in the pathogenesis of the complex process. Its part represented by vascular-associated lymphoid tissue (VALT) within the arterial wall participates directly in the vascular wall's homeostatis. Its inordinate activation during ontogenic development of an individual, this formerly defensive and physiologic mechanism transform into a pathological process resulting in an impairing inflammation. Hsp60, CRP and oxidized or otherwise modified LDL are serious candidates for triggering these pathological changes. The principal role is played by anti-Hsp60 antibodies and by shear stress originating on the surface of endothelium due to blood flow. The experimental and clinical data supporting this immunological hypothesis of atherosclerosis are discussed.

Hyperinflammation induced by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV2) is a major cause of disease severity and mortality in infected patients. The immunopathogenesis of SARS-CoV2 infection is similar to the previous Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-related coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and SARS-CoV coronavirus with severe inflammatory responses. Therefore, severity of this viral infection is not only associated with the virus but also due to host immune responses. Hyperinflammatory responses due to cytokine storm are a centerpiece of SARS-CoV2 pathogenesis with overwhelming consequences for the host. Virus infected monocyte derived macrophages produce cytokines and this contributes to damage of lymphoid tissue and limits the lymphocyte responses. Blocking the deadly cytokine storm and T lymphocyte stimulation is a vital defense for treating SARS-CoV2. Here, we will describe the role of hyperinflamation and the involvement of cytokines in severe SARS-CoV2 infection.

The success of cancer vaccines is dependent on the delivery of tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) within lymphoid tissue in the context of costimulatory molecules and immune stimulatory cytokines. Dendritic cells (DCs) are commonly utilized to elicit antitumor immune responses due to their attractive costimulatory molecule and cytokine expression profile. However, the efficacy of DC-based vaccines is limited by the poor viability and lymph-node migration of exogenously generated DCsin vivo. Alternatively, adoptively transferred T cells persist for long periods of timein vivoand readily migrate between the lymphoid and vascular compartments. In addition, T cells may be genetically modified to express both TAA and DC-activating molecules, suggesting that T cells may be ideal candidates to serve as cellular vehicles for antigen delivery to lymph node-resident DCsin vivo. This paper discusses the concept of using T cells to induce tumor-specific immunity for vaccination against cancer.
