Madu Retno Village is the first transmigration village in the Batulicin area which was formed in 1980. Initially, village management was under the guidance of the Transmigration Department with a duration of 1 year. The village is growing but not maximal in its stages. Judging from its potential, Madu Retno Village has a strong Hindu socio-cultural character. In its development, the existing potential has not been mapped thoroughly so that there is no complete planning and development scheme, it does not yet have the direction of goals contained in the development scheme, the thematic growth direction, and indicators to improve adequate infrastructure. The overall urgency can be realized through the preparation of a village master plan which will be prepared with the residents so that they will find and appreciate the expectations of the residents. The concept of an independent village is a top priority in the preparation of this village master plan, then the concept of a cultural tourism village becomes the next development effort so that Madu Retno Village will develop tourism and community culture independently.

The people of Yogyakarta are known for their tolerance, where people of different religions can coexist peacefully especially with Javanese traditions. But in Mangir, a village in Bantul, Yogyakarta, in November 12, 2019, there was a case of local residents rejecting the procession of ancestral prayer rituals by the Paguyuban Padma Buana (PPB) who claims to be followers of Javanese Hinduism. This study aimed at disclosing the elements and roots of conflict from the Mangir community's rejection towards Paguyuban Padma Buana. As a case study, it used conflict analysis approach through timeline and factor analysis techniques. The results showed that the open conflict between the two groups has occurred since 2012 with the main issue of syncretic ritual practices of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Kejawen (Javanism) that involve people from various religions. In addition, the Maha Lingga Padma Buana Temple as a place of whorship and rituals has also the license problems. Reconciliation was carried out between residents with the Padma Buana followers in 2015. Unfortunately it was violated by the Paguyuban Padma Buana and became a trigger of conflict back in 2019. The cause of this conflict is multiple factors, all of which are interrelated. However, the root cause of the problem among Mangir people is mostly related to traditional revivalism and the distribution of cultural tourism management authorities. This conflict makes them polarized and vulnerable to interests that can create the village atmosphere worse

I first became aware of a unique Nepalese tourist program in the village of Sirubari in the summer of 2001, when I led a group of undergraduate students on a summer field school to Nepal that included a visit there. My Nepali collaborators were eager for us to visit because Sirubari had already gained a national reputation for offering an interesting and high-quality experience for tourists, run by ethnic Gurungs, despite having only been officially in operation for three years. To say the least, an extremely appealing tourism program that left a favorable impression on the students intrigued me. I was so compelled by it, that I returned the summer of 2002 with one of the field school students, Morgan Edwards, to conduct a brief study of the intercaste cooperation necessary to conduct such a program.

Plempoh Cultural Tourism Village possesses a unique attraction such as natural resources and cultural heritage. Collaborating with the government, entrepreneurs, academicians and media, a group of tourism awareness called Pokdarwis Prabu Boko appears to be the central group behind every development of the Plempoh Cultural Tourism Village. However, previous research reveals that poverty still appears in this village, there is lack of community confidence and knowledge related to tourism; and lack of community participation in developing the village. This research aims to study the realization and the level of community empowerment in terms of economical, psychological, social and political aspect. This research used qualitative paradigm with descriptive method and purposive sampling technique. Data is collected using interview technique, observation and documentation. The data is then validated using source triangulation. The result shows that the community empowerment efforts undertaken by village stakeholders have not been optimal because some of the tourism village stakeholders still have not given strong commitment and they have not received trust from local communities. However, there are some evidence of community empowerment progress as follows: (1) the economic empowerment has now reached the fourth stage, namely support level. (2) the psychological empowerment is at the second stage, called reinforcement; (3) the social empowerment of the community is at its fifth stage, namely Maintenance, (4) the political empowerment is at the lowest level, namely possibility.

Cultural heritage is an important value owned by some communities in the area of Teluk Cenderawasi National Park. One of which is the legacy of important places owned by Isenebuai village community. Isenebuai village community has Sawora or "oath" to organize and manage the resources, location owned. The implementation of Sawora by Isenebuai village community has been done for a long time. The implementation of Sawora has also been applied to the villagers and the community outside of Isenebuai village, with the rules made by the adat elders and community leaders of Isenebuai village. Sawora and important places of Isenebuai village are a very unique cultural treasure owned by the village community specifically and owned by the Cendrawasih Bay National Park Area in general. In general, Sawora has similarities with Sasi but has a very different implementation base, because Sawora is the original product of Isenebuai village community culture that has existed since long time (before the introduction of Sasi).
