Antibiotic Growth Promoter (AGP) synthetic as a feed additive can stimulate growth, prevent some health problems, and improve feed efficiency. However, its journey has raised concerns due to adverse effects such as residues and microbial resistance. The use of turmeric flour and betaine as feed additives is expected to substitute the use of AGP Synthetic in improving the performance of pig carcasses and the safety of consumption. This study was aimed to examine the effect of the addition of turmeric flour and different doses of betaine in the ration on the performance of finisher period pigs. The study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications. The objects of the study were 20 male and female finisher Landrace pigs with a finisher period with initial body weights of 55-66 kg/head. The study rations used were R0: basal ration, R1: R0 + 0.4% turmeric flour + 0.1% betaine, R2: R0 + 0.4% turmeric flour + 0.15% betaine and R3: R0 + 0.4% turmeric flour + 0.2% betaine. The parameters measured were carcass weight, backfat thickness, and loin eye area. The addition of turmeric flour treatment did not have any significant effects on carcass weight and thickness of the back fat of the pig. The addition of 0.4% turmeric flour and 0.15% betaine in the ration was the best treatment and resulted in a different effect on the loin eye area compared to that of R0, while treatment R1 and R3 had a similar effect on it. The result of the addition of 0.4% turmeric flour and 0.15% betaine resulted in the loin eye area of the finisher pig of 53.4 cm2

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to evaluate two feed additives, one based on encapsulated sodium butyrate (Adimix® Precision) (AD) and the other, a phytogenic (Apex® 5) (AX), associated or not with an antimicrobial growth promoter (tylosin) during the growth and finishing phases on performance, carcass characteristics and health conditions. A total of 300 barrows and females were distributed in six treatments in a randomized block design with ten replicates. The treatments consisted of a negative control (NC), positive control (PC) (tylosin), AD (encapsulated sodium butyrate), AX (phytogenic), PC+AD (tylosin+encapsulated sodium butyrate), and PC+AX (tylosin+phytogenic). The performance (live weight, daily feed intake, average daily gain and feed conversion) and carcass data (carcass weight, backfat thickness, loin depth, lean meat on the carcass) were submitted to ANOVA plus Tukey’s test, and the health conditions (occurrence of diseases, culling, and spontaneous deaths) were analyzed by χ2. Animals of the AD group had the highest average daily gain (ADG) over the evaluation period and the highest live weight at 120, 140, and 164 days of age, in addition to the highest carcass weight compared to NC and PC groups. The AX treatment increased the ADG in growth phase II and the live weight at 120 and 140 days of age in relation to the NC. The PC+AX group had a higher final live weight compared to the NC and PC groups and higher carcass weight in relation to the NC group. There was no difference among treatments for backfat thickness, percentage of lean meat in the carcass, or occurrence of diseases and deaths. The inclusion of encapsulated sodium butyrate (AD treatment) was effective in increasing ADG, final live weight, and carcass weight compared to supplementation with tylosin (PC treatment), as was the inclusion of a phytogenic (AX treatment) on FC compared to the PC.

Abstract Mangalica pigs are a popular niche breed given their reputation for superior quality pork. However, growth and carcass parameters for this breed are poorly documented. Our objective was to better characterize optimal harvest weights for the Mangalica breed. To accomplish this, a growth trial was conducted whereby pigs (n=56) were randomly distributed across stratified harvest weights (50, 57, 68, 82, 93, 102, 127 kg) in a completely randomized design. Pigs were fed standard finisher rations with individual daily feed intakes and weekly body weights recorded for all animals. At 24h postmortem, carcasses were split and ribbed with marbling and loin eye area (LEA) measured at the 10th rib. Primal cuts were fabricated and individually weighed. Fat back was separated from the loin and weighed. As expected, live weight significantly increased across weight class (P < 0.0001). ADG was similar across classes up to 82 kg live weight before steadily declining with increasing weight class (P < 0.0025). Likewise, feed efficiency did not differ between classes until weights heavier than 82 kg (P < 0.03). LEA significantly increased by class up to 82 kg and then plateaued as harvest weight increased further (P < 0.003). Marbling score significantly increased with increasing weight class up to 102 kg where they then plateaued (p < 0.04). Fat back dramatically increased across all weight classes (p < 0.0001) despite negligible increases in LEA or marbling after 102 kg. Primal cut weights for the ham (P < 0.0001), loin (P < 0.0001), Boston butt (P < 0.0001), shoulder (P < 0.0001), and belly (P < 0.0001) all significantly increased with increasing live weight. These data suggest an optimal harvest weight occurs between 82 to 102 kg while offering little objective justification for the current practice of harvesting Mangalica pigs at much heavier live weights.

ABSTRACT Methionine is an essential amino acid, and generally, the first limiting one in the diets of tambaqui, the main native fish produced in continental aquaculture in South America. However, there is a lack of information on their amino acid requirement, especially for maintenance and efficiency of utilization. The present study aimed to determine the requirement of [methionine plus cystine] for the maintenance and efficiency of utilization using tambaqui of different body weights. Two experiments were carried out using 250 tambaqui with weights of 100 and 300 g. They were distributed in a completely randomized design with four treatment groups (0.264, 0.396, 0.528, and 0.660% of digestible [Met + Cys]), five replications. The control treatment (CT) was performed with the addition of methionine at the first level (0.264%) until the second level was reached (0.396%). The maintenance requirement was determined by the regression analysis between the consumption of [Met + Cys] and protein retention equal to zero. The efficiency was determined using the value of the slope coefficient of the line obtained by the linear regression. The protein and methionine retention values of tambaqui weighing 100 to 300 g were compared by the parallelism test, and no difference was observed between the parameters of the equations indicating the need for only one equation to describe the responses to body weights. The requirement of digestible [Met + Cys] for the maintenance of tambaqui with weights from 100 to 300 g was 60.47 mg kg-0.7 day-1 and the efficiency of utilization of 42%.

Established that the largest distribution combined with feed additives which include a number of biologically active substances. As an alternative to antibiotics, the use of which recently banned their production and significantly reduced feeding system is used four groups of drugs, enzymes, probiotics, prebiotics and аcidifiers. The largest number of feed additives used in poultry feed. Therefore, to improve the consumption and use of feed efficiency, obtaining maximum animal performance ensured a high level of balanced nutrition using the same enzyme–probiotic supplements. It is to include such feed additives «Proenzym» which consists of live bacteria genus Bacillus subtilis and an enzyme tsellyulaza. What prevents gastrointestinal diseases, improves digestion and absorption of essential nutrients intake. Therefore, the aim was to study the effect of feeding different doses feed additive «Proenzym» in the quail Full–feed and its impact on productivity and internal organs. For the experiment selected 200 day old Estonian quail breed. Of these, the principle of analogues formed four groups of 50 goals each. The duration of the experiment – 56 days. The first (control) group during the entire experiment received a basic diet, and quail research groups in addition to the basic diet fed different doses of feed additives. For the effects of various doses feed additive had a positive effect on live weight quails in 42 and 49–day age. Yes, most live weight at the end of the experiment were females and males second experimental group 10.8% and 8.3%, which in addition to full–feed introduced minimum dose «Proenzym» The introduction of the new maximum amount of feed factor had a significant impact on the weight of internal organs, quails second group for the actions of study drug increased the mass of the lungs and liver, respectively, 0.6 g and 3.4 g, and gallbladder in 4 experimental group 0.16 g. Therefore, we can conclude that the diets of quails best was the maximum amount of feed additive.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using herbal ingredients on income over feed costs of broiler chickens. The material used in this study was: broiler DOC. This study was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and each treatment consisted of 4 replications. The treatment used in this study is the use of herbal ingredients in drinking water with the use level as follows: P0: without the addition of herbal ingredients, P1: water + 10% herbal ingredients, P2: water + 15% herbal ingredients, P3: water + 20% herbal concoctions. The variables observed in this study were feed consumption, feed costs, and income over feed costs for broiler chickens. The data obtained (income over feed cost) is analyzed using a variety of analysis with a completely randomized design (CRD). The results showed that the highest feed costs were found in the P3 treatment group followed by P1, P2, P0 and the lowest was P0. Whereas at P0 the cost of feed is lowest because there is no use of herbal ingredients. Based on acceptance data, the highest revenue was in the P1 control group of Rp. 31,430.6 while the lowest acceptance was in the P0 group of Rp. 24,814.8,100. The low acceptance in this study was caused by the low body weight of broiler chickens during the study. Income Over Feed Cost during the highest research was found in the P3 group (3,568), and the lowest was found in the treatment of P1 (979) P0 (1,964), P2 (1,937) because the cost of feed was higher than acceptance. drinking water has a very significant effect (P <0.01) on Income Over Feed Cost.
