This study aims to describe in general the performance of Wonolangan Sugar Factory and to analyze the comparison of sugarcane farming with a non-sugarcane commodity in the working area of Wonolangan Sugar Factory. Wonolangan Sugar Factory is located in Probolinggo Regency, almost 90% of sugarcane raw material is obtained from Lumajang Regency. Commodities that become competitors and the main choice of farmers to be cultivated are rice, maize, and onion. The data used in this study are primary and secondary data. The sampling method used is purposive with in-depth interview technique. Portrait performance of Wonolangan Sugar Factory in the last 5 years is very fluctuating caused by various factors such as climate impacts that are less supportive, the motivation of farmers to grow sugarcane, government policy in the sugar industry. To maintain the smoothness of the mill in the implementation of milling, Wonolangan Sugar Factory has several strategies both on the farm (garden) and off-farm (sugarcane processing at the factory). Based on the comparison of Sugar Business Result (SHU) of sugarcane and non-sugarcane planting pattern, it appears that the analysis shows that sugarcane farming with one Ratoon Cane (RC) category in paddy field can only compete with the pattern of non-cane maize farming throughout the year in South Sugar Factory Wonolangan.

The sugar industry is one of the agriculture-based industries which use sugar cane as a raw material to produce sugar. The processing of sugar cane into sugar generates by-products such as bagasse, molasses, and filter cake which will cause environmental pollution if they are untreated. This research identified the utilization pattern of sugar industry by-products in Gempolkrep Sugar Factory and analyzed the added value from by-products utilization using Hayami Method. Based on the utilization pattern at Gempolkrep Sugar Factory, bagasse is used as an alternative raw material for electricity generation. Filter cake is used as raw material for compost fertilizer. Molasses is used as a raw material for bioethanol manufacture. The added value obtained from processing filter cake into compost is IDR141.335 per ton, while bioethanol products from molasses provide an added value of IDR752.645 per ton. Keywords: bagasse, bioethanol, filter cake, Hayami method, molasses, value added

This research was conducted by direct interview technique with 18 (eighteen) respondents in this case palm sugar processor and also using written data in document form obtained from village head of North Lowu Village. The data obtained will be analyzed using descriptive analysis and will be presented in tabular form. Total acceptance of all palm sugar processors in Kalatin Hamlet, amounting to Rp.3.310.000 / day of the total revenue obtained by all palm sugar processing with a cost incurred of Rp.2.411.902 then, obtained profit by 18 processors that is Rp.898.098 / day if not calculated raw material costs, then each processor gain profit Rp.49.898/day. However, if calculated raw material costs then the losses experienced by all palm sugar processing that is Rp.-2.903.902 / day with the cost incurred is Rp. 6.213.902 and each processor suffered loss of Rp.- 161.327 / day. If the cost for the raw material and labor were not included, the processing of palm sugar in Kalatin Hamlet is economically and feasible to be cultivated by R / C = 1,37.

The purpose of this study was to find out the function of cold storage in stabilizing fish prices in Ambon City, analyzing optimal production levels of various types of dominant fish, and analyzing the level of efficiency of utilization of cold storage and auxiliary machinery. This study uses the survey method. Primary data collection through questionnaires is built empirically while secondary data is obtained from several agencies related to this study. The research sample was drawn by exhausting sampling, amounting to 6 cold storage units in Ambon City. The role of cold storage to stabilize fish prices was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach, while the quantitative techniques used included analysis of optimization of cold storage production with linear programming and analysis of the efficiency of utilization of cold storage. The results of the study show that cold storage has not played a role properly to stabilize fish prices in Ambon City. To achieve optimal use of production factors, the cold storage management needs to reduce the raw material by 24,915.9 kg / month; 7 HOK / month workforce; cold storage storage space capacity of 2.09 kg / month; and demand for flying fish 1,402.6 kg / month, while the use of production factors efficiently (fully utulized) is the capacity of the freezing machine, demand for tuna, skipjack, and cob. The level of technical efficiency of the utilization of cold storage facilities is reached, the total use of installed capacity must be proportional to the capacity used.
