The concept of self is an understanding of the attitude of the individual towards himself so that it results in the interaction of two or more people. Self-concept is a factor that communicates with others. The concept of self is the views and attitudes of individuals towards themselves, characteristics and individual and self-motivation. The self-view includes not only individual strengths but also weaknesses and even failures. This self-concept is psychological, social and physical. Self-concept is our views and feelings about ourselves, which include physical, psychological and social aspects. The concept of self is not just a descriptive picture, but also an assessment of ourselves, including what we think and how we feel. Anita Taylor defines self-concept as "all you think and feel about you, the entire complex of beliefs and attitudes you hold abaout yourself '. Human behavior is a product of their interpretation of the world around them through social interaction. Behavior is often a choice as a feasible thing to do based on how it defines the existing situation. The definition they give to other people, situations, objects and even themselves determines their behavior. So it is individuals who are considered active to regulate and determine their own behavior and environment. While the core of the individual is consciousness (consciousness). self-development depends on communication with others, which shape or influence themselves

In the current article, the assumptions are proposed based on the analysis of theoretical sources and on the perspective of considering the semantic field of a humanistically oriented educational environment as a complex of elements that reveal the willingness and humanistic position of subjects. The research hypothesis lies in the assumption that such components of the “Self-concept” as creativity, intentionality, authenticity, and the desire for self-actualization contribute to the formation of teachers’ readiness for designing a humanistically oriented educational environment. The purpose of the study is to study the components of teachers’ readiness for constructing a humanistically oriented educational environment. The results of the experimental study testified to the expansion of semantic boundaries and awareness of the subjective significance of higher values, as well as to the willingness of teachers to design a humanistically oriented educational environment.

The relation between parental self-actualization and the self-concept of the junior high-school-aged child was investigated. The subjects were 154 families (39 of whom had 2 children). Self-actualization was measured by the Personal Orientation Inventory and self-concept by the Tennessee Self-concept Scale. Girls showed a stronger relationship to their parents than did boys; fathers had a greater influence on their children than did mothers, and the strongest sex combination was father-daughter. Few rs were significant; all were low and accounted for small amounts of common variance.

Abstract The present study investigated incarceration as a possible triggering factor of self-concept transformations. Self-concept consists of a set of multiple dimensions organized hierarchically functioning as cognitive schemas. It is a structural complex product of reflective activity, and it is susceptible to changes as the individual encounters new situations, life transitions, and social roles. To investigate the transformations in the self-concept structure, 150 incarcerated women responded to the Feminine Inventory of the Self-Concept's Gender Schemas, Self-Concept Clarity Scale and Situational Self-Awareness Scale. The results showed dynamic and multidimensional organization of self-concept in the women investigated, including various categories of the self. The elements analyzed indicate that prison, an undesirable life event in adulthood, is a driver of transformations in the dynamics of self-concept.

This article reveals the theoretical basis of the self-concept and the Self-identity image study in psychology and emphasizes that the tendency to analyze oneself, the need to generalize and systematize knowledge about oneself, to relate one’s self-image to an ideal one as well as self-education, self-esteem are the most important characteristics for the formation of a future specialist. The article analyzes the works of foreign and domestic psychologists, such as R. Burns, W. James, V. S. Agapov, who give us various approaches to the problem of the self-concept and its structural components. The authors investigate the ideas about ‘self’ and the ideal image of an Orthodox theologian among the students majoring in the Orthodox theology. It is noted that there is very little research on the personal characteristics of the students majoring in theology, and studying the idea of oneself and the ideal image of a future theologian is not only of a theoretical interest, but it is also connected with the increasing efficiency of solving the problems with specialists` formation. The paper presents the results of an empirical study concerning the students majoring in theology from junior to senior years basing on the methods of diagnosing interpersonal relations by T. Leary. The results show us that the efficiency of the professional training and the professional development of a future theologian depends on the meaning and importance of the profession for the given person, and how the future specialist relates themselves to it. The comparative analysis of an one`s self image and an ideal image formation among the students majoring in theology generally indicate the development of subjectivity, a critical attitude toward oneself, and a desire to improve oneself.

The article describes a research that aimed at deepening the understanding the personal experience organization. Individual experience is viewed from the standpoint of O. Laktionov's model, and it`s personal component is considered in detail. One of the parts of this component is the life-sense orientations, and the article analyzes the transformations of this phenomenon that took place from 2010 to 2017. The personal component of individual experience contains three aspects: the oneself interpretation, the others interpretation, and the world interpretation. The aspect of oneself interpreting as value contains self-esteem, self-regulation, and the self-concept; the aspect of others interpreting as compatible with the subject of experience - the self-concept and values; aspect of the world interpretation - the values and life-sense orientations. The emphasis on the life-sense orientations within this article was made in view of the desire to find the most universal transformations of personal experience. In the course of the empirical study, a comparative analysis of the subjects studied by the life-sense orientations (the test of life-orientation of D. Leontiev) in 2010 and 2017 using the U-Mann-Whitney test. To maximize the consideration of factors that could potentially affect the characteristics of the personal experience organization, the analysis was conducted separately on a sample of students-psychologists and students-philologists. The total number of persons who participated in the study was 121 students of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Kharkiv) and Donbass State Pedagogical University (Slovyansk). Socio-political change was recognized as one of the key determinants of the transformations under study. It was found that across the whole sample, compared to 2010, the level of expressiveness of meaningful life indicators, such as goal orientation, locus of control "I", locus of control of life, and overall meaningfulness of life, significantly decreased; at the same time, the level of result orientation was significantly increased. Psychological students are characterized by a significant decrease in goal orientation, locus of self control, locus of life control, and overall meaningfulness of life; as well as an increase in result orientation. Philological students are characterized by a significant decrease in the locus of control of life and the overall meaning of life.

Introduction. Impetuous changes provoke a research into structural and substantive changes in modern childhood. Presentation of modern preschoolers differs from what their peers thought 10 and 20 years ago. It is necessary to determine the basis of preschool children’s self-image and to identify those specifications that remain unchanged and those that demonstrate significant changes. This will help to understand the fundamentals of building an internal image of a modern preschooler, highlight changes in its structure, and predict effective ways to accompany the development of a preschooler’s personality. Aim of the research: study the content components of the “self-image” of preschoolers, identify and describe the main dynamic trends in the self-image of preschoolers over the course of 13 years. Materials and Methods. The study of meaningful changes in the preschoolers’ ideas about themselves was organized using an interview. 211 preschoolers aged between 5 and 7 years old were interviewed. The study used the methods of cross-sections, the Kuhn-McPartland test modified by T. V. Rumyantseva, the method of studying the “self-image” by G. A. Uruntaeva and E. N. Gosheva, methods of mathematical statistics in the SPSS program. Results. The reflexive ego and the communicative ego are determined in the structure of the identification indicators of the self-image of the older preschooler as the stable characteristics. The dynamic tendencies are highlighted: modern preschoolers, in comparison with their peers in 2004, demonstrate more freedom and diversity in describing the identification characteristics of their physical ego and activity ego, at the same time they lose focus on relationships in the context of “me-others” (“social ego”). A comparative analysis made it possible to identify the zone of development of the self-image of modern preschoolers and the basis for the reconstruction of forms and methods of teaching and upb ringing. Discussion and Conclusion. The results of the research are important for the psychology of modern childhood. They clarify and supplement the description of the age-related characteristics of the development of self-awareness of modern preschoolers. The study allows us to place significant accents in the development of educational programs for preschool children in practice.
