Having a specific excellence that is different to other educational institutions can be an attractiveness of madrasah. This excellence needs to be managed properly to attract societies and as one of benchmarks of educational institution qualities. Educational institutions in East Kalimantan such as MAN 2 Samarinda, MAN 2 Samarinda, MAN 2 Kutai Kertanegara, and MAN Balikpapan have implemented strategic management in managing their excellence. This research aimed to find out the excellence of each madrasah and strategic management to manage the excellence in MA in East Kalimantan. This is Field work Research with qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews and documentations. Data analysis techniques used a qualitative analysis technique consisting of data reduction, data model (data display), and conclusing drawing/verification. Based on data, the strategic management considering the madrasah excellence in East Kalimantan is as following: 1) Skill Program based Madrasah has an excellence in the curriculum contents as elective programs for students such as culinary art skills, fashion (sewing skills), light vehicle automotive, computer science, and welding skills. The strategic management implemented is cooperative strategy to build cooperation with and credibility from business field and industry, 2) Religious Program based Madrasah has an excellence in academic by strengthening religious matters, sciences and technology, foreign languages and yellow book. The forms of strategic management used are cooperative strategy and competitive strategy, 3) Excellent Program based Madrasah has an excellence in the students’ achievements from extracurricular activities, particularly martial arts and scientific writing competition. The forms of strategic management are the combination of cooperative strategy and competitive strategy, 4) Regular Program based Madrasah has excellent achievements in scientific writing competition and Syiar Anak Negeri program. The strategic management developed is professional extracurricular coaching by implementing strategic management of cooperative and competitive.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1.) Mengkaji implementasi manajemen strategik peningkatan mutu lembaga pendidikan Muhammadiyah di SMP Al-Mujahidin dan SMP Muhammadiyah Semin Kabupaten Gunungkidul; dan 2.) Menemukan formulasi alternatif manajemen strategik lembaga pendidikan Muhammadiyah dalam meningkatkan mutu sekolah di Kabupaten Gunungkidul. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian studi kasus yang bersifat kualitatif, dengan mengunakan metode observasi, interview dan dokumentasi terhadap dua lembaga pendidikan Muhammadiyah. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teori Miles dan Huberman dengan tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi manajemen strategik yang dilakukan oleh SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Mujahidin dan SMP Muhammadiyah Semin melibatkan semua stakeholder. Sekolah terlebih dahulu merumuskan visi misi sekolah dengan mempertimbangkan faktor internal dan eksternal lingkungan sekolah, dilanjutkan merumuskan tujuan dan target mutu sekolah diikuti dengan penentuan strategi yang akan digunakan oleh sekolah demi terealisasinya semua target mutu yang disepakati. Implementasi strategi yang dilakukan SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Mujahidin dan SMP Muhammadiyah Semin dalam meningkatkan mutu sekolah adalah dengan menjabarkan dan melaksanakan semua strategi yang telah dirumuskan dalam bentuk kegiatan-kegiatan terprogram dan terukur. Evaluasi strategi yang digunakan SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Mujahidin dan SMP Muhammadiyah Semin adalah melalui rapat formal maupun informal. AbstractThe objective of the present study is to: 1.) Review the implementation of strategic management for the improvement of the Muhammadiyah educational institution quality in the context of Al-Mujahidin Junior High School and Muhammadiyah Junior High School Semin, the Regency of Gunungkidul; and 2.) Identify the alternative formula for the implementation of the strategic management within the Muhammadiyah educational institution quality toward the improvement of the school quality in the Regency of Gunungkidul. The nature of the study is qualitative research using observation, interview, and documentation with two Muhammadiyah educational institutions as the objects of the study. Throughout the data analysis, the technique that has been implemented is the data analysis technique proposed by Miles & Huberman under the following sequence: (1) data reduction; (2) data presentation; and (3) conclusions. The results of the study show that the implementation of strategic management by the Al-Mujahidin Junior High School and the Muhammadiyah Junior High School Semin has involved all stakeholders. The two Muhammadiyah educational institutions formulate the school vision and the school mission in the very first place with considerations toward the internal factors and the external factors of the school environment. Then, the two Muhammadiyah educational institutions proceed to the formulation of the objectives and the targets for the school quality followed by the definition of the school strategy in achieving all of the quality targets that have been formulated. Furthermore, the strategic management by the Al-Mujahidin Junior High School and the Muhammadiyah Junior High School Semin in improving the school quality is elaborating and implementing all strategies that have been formulated in the form of programmed and measured activities. The strategies will be evaluated by the Al-Mujahidin Junior High School and the Muhammadiyah Junior High School Semin through the mechanism of both formal and informal meetings.

This research presents about Kyai's transformational leadership in managing Islamic educational institutions in order to have strong excellence and competitiveness, in the midst of competition between educational institutions. The study of Kyai's leadership has its own uniqueness, considering that Kyai is a charismatic figure and has a high spirituality value for a community of people, who must play a dual role as a leader and also a manager in the educational institution he leads, namely pesantren. This research uses a qualitative approach to with library research. The data analysis technique uses content analysis. The results showed that; Kyai as a transformative leader in managing his educational institutions, especially pesantren has four dimensions; First, charismatic leadership, where Kyai's position is used as a role model by his followers, secondly inspirational motivation, where a Kyai is able to inspire and motivate followers to achieve the goals of pesantren, third, intellectual stimulation which is able to foster ideas and ideas from others to advance pesantren educational institutions, fourth, individualized consideration, in which a Kyai wants to listen to the aspirations and input of others for the development of the educational organization he leads.

Islamic boarding school is a religious, educational institution with its characteristics and is different from other educational institutions. Education in Islamic boarding schools includes Islamic education, da’wah, community development, and additional similar education. This research aimed to determine the relationship between Self-Control with Discipline Behavior to students memorizing the Al-Qur’an at Islamic Boarding School Darussalam Purwokerto-Indonesia. This study uses quantitative research methods. The instrument used to collect data is the Self-Control scale and the Discipline Behavior scale. The population in the study was 80 students. Researchers use the entire population, so it is called population research. The data analysis technique uses product-moment correlation. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 25.0 for Windows Program. The results of the research data show that there is a relationship between Self-Control and Discipline Behavior in students who memorize the Qur’an at Islamic Boarding School Darussalam Purwokerto-Indonesia has a correlation of 0.695 and a significance level of p<0.01. The results of data analysis show that there is a positive relationship between Self-Control and Discipline Behavior.

Abstract: Creativity is a talent possessed by every individual and can be honed or nurtured through the right educational institutions. In a creativity formation, children need help to build their creativity. Supporting factors and the formation of creativity in children, namely with the full support of the people or the environment around them. The Lalare Orchestra Academy is an educational institution that teaches children to be more creative in playing musical instruments. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with data collection using observation and interview techniques, while the analysis technique uses the stages of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research objective was to describe the background of the Lalare Academy Institute for orchestra and the process of developing musical creativity in children. The results showed that the background for the establishment of the Lalare Orchestra Academy was driven by the interest of the chairman of the Blambangan Arts Council, namely Syamsudin and Kadafi Kadiso as art enthusiasts to provide space and opportunities for academic music education to children. In its performances, the Lalare Orchestra Academy always presents Banyuwangi traditional music games with a number of musical instruments that are not only one device, but use many traditional musical instruments so that they are called orchestra music games. In its development, the Lalare Orchestra Academy is in great demand by children because children are given the opportunity to develop game techniques, thus motivating children to be creative. The process of developing creativity is carried out by teaching Banyuwangi traditional music playing techniques, improvisation, and its application when playing music in an orchestra. Thus children will be able to improvise existing songs and be able to play music well.Keywords: Lalare Orchestra Academy, Creativity

In accordance with the educational objectives described in the National Education System Act No. 20 of 2003, that education in Indonesia is not only intended to educating the life of the nation but also shape the character of students. To develop character and a good attitude for students an educational institution is needed. Educational institutions in Indonesia consist of formal, informal and non-formal education channels. Through extracurricular activities, it was expected to develop abilities and have discipline in students, as well as the potential and achievements of students. Extracurricular activities are expected to be able to meet the needs of students, to gain knowledge and experience that will someday be useful for students in daily life. The research was carried out at SMPN 2 Casasari with the object of the paskibra supervisor and female students. to achieve that above goals, the researcher uses a qualitative approach and presents a type of descriptive research, using data collection techniques through methods: 1) observation; 2) interviews; 3) documentation. The results of the study showed that (1) the role of the paskibra in SMPN 2 Cadasari was quite good, because there was a United Nations and there was discussion through character guidance activities so that it would improve discipline. (2) constraints faced by SMPN 2 Cadasari, paskibra there are clearly obstacles such as coming late, using attributes that are incomplete or different uniforms, late in attending extracurricular activities. (3) efforts to increase discipline in paskibra. Character guidance is conducted once a month, can shape the discipline of Paskibra members by giving advice, motivation and sharing experiences. More often participate in outside activities such as marching races.

The existence of schools is one component in supporting the goals of national education, where educational tasks can actually be categorized into "managerial" tasks which are managed by education managers assisted by education personnel in various fields of expertise. This shows that the sustainability of educational institutions cannot be separated from the applied managerial system. The application of management patterns both institutionally and with good resources will lead to an educational institution that is able to keep up with environmental changes.

In general, the quality of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia can be said to lag behind non-Islamic educational institutions. The quality of education is influenced by the quality of the education management it carries out. The better the quality of management of an educational institution, the quality of education produced will certainly be directly proportional. Changing times continue to occur and competition between educational institutions is also getting tougher. If you are not able to manage an educational institution properly, you will be left behind and it is possible to go bankrupt. One of these self-improvement efforts is the need to reformulate strategic management by considering the concept of a strategic management model. The purpose of this study is to explore a strategic management model for improving the quality of Islamic education. The research was carried out through an approach to library research methods. The results of this study have shown that in fact management strategy has a concept in Islam, so there are already Islamic educational institutions to run it according to Islamic guidelines in order to improve the quality of Islamic education.

Abstract. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the principles and present the author’s methodology for creating strategic and investment plans for the development of educational institutions. The theoretical significance of the article is that it is based on understanding the work of Ukrainian and foreign scientists, the authors’ own experience in strategic management of educational institutions of different levels, analysis of experience in creating strategic and investment development plans for 11 vocational schools in Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporozhye regions (which became possible due to support of UNDP in Ukraine) the principles of creating a strategic and investment plan for the development of educational institutions are substantiated; the author’s vision on the technology of strategic management of an educational institution is offered; the author’s methodology of creating a strategic and investment plan for the development of an educational institution is presented. The practical significance of the article is that the proposed principles, technologies, tools and methodology tested in educational institutions of different levels can be used in the process of developing strategic management of relevant institutions, in particular to create a document «Strategic and investment development plan of the educational institution». It is substantiated that in the process of creating a strategic and investment plan for the development of the educational institution it is advisable to adhere to certain principles that will involve all stakeholders, teaching staff, lay the foundation for coordinated work on its (plan) implementation. Such principles are the principle of predictability (vision of the strategic and investment plan for the development of the institution as a document that should not only contain strategic initiatives and operational objectives aimed at changing the current situation (in terms of management, quality, competitiveness, etc.), but to implement initiatives aimed at change in the future); optimality (the need to identify a number of such strategic initiatives, the implementation of which could most optimally determine the change in the future); hierarchy (structuring of strategic and investment plan as a hierarchy of strategic initiatives, strategic goals and operational objectives, in order to ensure and optimal achievement of planned strategic goals); responsibility (involvement of teaching and non teaching staff in the process of generating strategic initiatives for the development of the educational institution as well as encouraging them to take responsibility for their implementation); environmentality (taking into account the general context (external environment) in which the institution is operated, and which, in turn, determines the patterns and internal logic of this development). The author’s methodology of creating a strategic and investment plan for the development of the educational institution is proposed, which provides the stages of analysis of the external environment of the educational institution, institutional analysis, competitive analysis, formation of a 3D view on the educational institution, generation of strategic initiatives for the future. The peculiarities of using the nominal groups technique to generate strategic initiatives for the development of an educational institution are substantiated. In the millennium era the competition between educational institutions is getting tougher. If an institution does not innovate in improving an educational institution, it will lag behind other educational institutions. After the researchers observed the MI Darwata Mujur Lor Educational Institution, the researchers found a lack of proportional improvement in the ability of teachers and a lack of networks that were integrated with the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts made by MI Darwata Mujur Lor in improving the quality of its institutions. The type of the research is descriptive research. Descrpitive research is done by collecting data as much as possible which is supporting factors that influence it then explained according to the data found. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, observation, surveys and documentation. The analysis technique of this study using taxonomic analysis is the analysis of the chosen domain which is further elaborated to find out the internal structure using focused observation. The results showed that efforts to improve the quality of educational institutions in Darwata Mujur Lor in the aspects of teacher professionalism were carried out by improving the profession individually, and increasing teachers through professional organizational channels, and network aspects carried out by conducting workshops / training internally, collaborating with school committee, collaborate with the community, and collaborate with local agencies and non-governmental institutions.

The purpose of the work is to consider problems of marketing application of educational services in the Russian educational institutions activity, to reveal pre-requisites of relevance strengthening of these problems on the market of educational services, especially the system of advanced training of heads and experts; to show that application of methodology of strategic and marketing management in practice is caused by the objective reasons which are defined by character of the changes, first of all in the organization environment. In the course of research strategic marketing and management methods are used. The studies show that the most important task of strategic management of the educational institution is establishment and maintenance of dynamic interaction of the organization with the environment surrounding it. Conclusions: strategic management is intended to provide the organization long-term survival, competi-tive advantage is reached due to delivery of products or services to the consumer satisfying their requirements; cooperation problem of higher education institutions and industrial enterprises in which marketing takes a position of one of the leading functions of creating conditions for successful functioning and development of the organization, is especially urgent at present.
