<p>This paper aims to find out the contextualization of the critical ideology of Ali Syari'ati in the field of Islamic education. This paper uses a qualitative approach by gathering various literature on Ali Syari'ati's critical thinking, then analyzing it in the context of national education in Indonesia. The results of the study show that: first, education must be able to free humans from all forms of colonialism. second: the aim of critical education is to create an independent person and become a social prophet (rushan fekr) whose duty is to bring the people towards the desired ideals together, namely social welfare, free from acts of tyranny and misery of the people. third: making enlightened students that they are able to get out of four social prisons which include nature, history, society and human ego. In the context of Islamic education in Indonesia it can be realized by shaping students to be highly critical, independent and socially conscious individuals.</p><p><strong>Keywords:</strong> critical education; Ali Shari'ati; independent; social awareness; human ego; Islamic education; Indonesia;</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui  kontekstualisasi ideologi kritis Ali Syari’ati dibidang pendidikan Islam. Tulisan ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan mengumpulkan berbagai literatur mengenai pemikiran kritis Ali Syari’ati, kemudian dianalisis dalam konteks pendidikan Nasional di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: pertama, Pendidikan harus dapat membebaskan manusia dari semua bentuk penjajahan. kedua: tujuan pendidikan kritis adalah untuk mewujudkan pribadi yang merdeka dan menjadi nabi sosial (rushan fekr) yang bertugas untuk membawa umat menuju cita-cita yang diinginkan bersama, yaitu kesejahteraan sosial, terbebas dari tindak kezaliman dan kesengsaraan umat. ketiga: menjadikan siswa yang tercerahkan yaitu mereka mampu keluar dari empat penjara sosial yang meliputi  sifat dasar, sejarah, masyarakat, dan ego manusia. Dalam konteks pendidikan Islam di Indoenesia bisa diwujudkan dengan membentuk anak didik menjadi pribadi yang kritis, independen dan berkesadaran sosial yang tinggi.</p><strong>Kata Kunci:</strong>  pendidikan kritis; Ali Syari’ati; independen; kesadaran social; ego manusia; pendidikan Islam; Indonesia

This study aims to examine the role of the majelis ta ‟lim in developing human qualities in society. Taklim Assembly is regulated in Article 26 paragraph 4 of RI Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System. This study uses a qualitative approach with triangulation analysis. The results of this study found that the existence of the Ta'lim Assembly in the era of globalization is very important and one of the most important strongholds in counteracting the negative effects of globalization itself. besides that it also functions as a fostering and developing Islamic religion, a park of spiritual recreation, an arena of silaturrahmi, a means of continuous dialogue between ulama, umaroh and the people and as a medium to convey the idea of modernization that is beneficial for the development of the people.

Education, mainly Islamic based learning, can be found in formal schools, non-formal and informal institutions. A person can freely choose which path to use as a way to take talent and potential in him; even when making formal education, even an individual has the right to participate in non-formal education activities. One of the most appropriate places to forge one's abilities is the campus. It is undeniable that students are one of Indonesia's most influential human resources and are also the next generation of nation-building. Therefore the cadre regeneration function is the most basic. As a generation that must carry out the role of regeneration for the sake of the realisation of the good and happiness of the people, nation and country in the future. Therefore education is needed to help towards the better. Islamic culture has a vital role in the education model that exists in Indonesia. Islamic education is used to improve human morals in a better direction with Islamic methods. It can be observed that student organisations within the campus need a strong foundation to improve their quality in faith and loyalty that has both physical and spiritual intelligence. It is here that the need for Islamic education in helping them is better by the mandate of the national education law. Pendidikan, terutama pembelajaran berbasis Islam, dapat ditemukan di sekolah formal, lembaga non-formal dan informal. Seseorang dapat dengan bebas memilih jalan mana yang akan digunakan sebagai cara untuk mengambil bakat dan potensi dalam dirinya; bahkan ketika membuat pendidikan formal, bahkan seorang individu memiliki hak untuk berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan pendidikan non-formal. Salah satu tempat paling tepat untuk menempa kemampuan seseorang adalah kampus. Tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa siswa adalah salah satu sumber daya manusia Indonesia yang paling berpengaruh dan juga merupakan generasi penerus bangsa. Karena itu fungsi regenerasi kader adalah yang paling mendasar. Sebagai generasi yang harus menjalankan peran regenerasi demi terwujudnya kebaikan dan kebahagiaan rakyat, bangsa dan negara di masa depan. Oleh karena itu diperlukan pendidikan untuk membantu menuju yang lebih baik. Budaya Islam memiliki peran penting dalam model pendidikan yang ada di Indonesia. Pendidikan Islam digunakan untuk meningkatkan moral manusia ke arah yang lebih baik dengan metode Islam. Dapat diamati bahwa organisasi mahasiswa di dalam kampus membutuhkan dasar yang kuat untuk meningkatkan kualitas mereka dalam iman dan kesetiaan yang memiliki kecerdasan fisik dan spiritual. Di sinilah perlunya pendidikan Islam dalam membantu mereka lebih baik dengan mandat hukum pendidikan nasional.

Tulisan ini bermaksud untuk meneliti dan memetakan pemikiran Azyumardi Azra tentang pendidikan Islam, namun memfokuskan kajian pada lembaga pendidikan Islam informal, pesantren. Dalam pandangan Azra, pesantren sebagai bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dengan pendidikan nasional telah diakui perannya sebagai agen perubahan sosial. Karenanya, ia dituntut untuk terus memainkan perannya secara proaktif dan dinamis. Kehadirannya diharapkan terus menjadi cahaya pencerah,  membawa perubahan, sekaligus memberi kontribusi berarti bagi perbaikan kehidupan seluruh umat manusia pada umumnya dan umat Islam khususnya. Namun,seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, lebih-lebih di era globalisasi seperti sekarang ini,  pesantren kini menghadapi masalah-masalah (akibat dampak globalisasi) yang tidak kunjung selesai bahkan hingga membenang kusut. Akibatnya, pesantren kini dipandang oleh banyak kalangan (baik dari pengelola pendidikan Islam itu sendiri maupun masyarakat luas) sebagai pendidikan kelas dua (second class). Karena itu, agar pesantren mampu terus memainkan perannya dengan baik, yakni menjadi produsen yang menghasilkan manusia-manusia yang berilmu, berteknologi, berketerampilan tinggi, dan sekaligus beriman dan beramal saleh, ia harus dimodernisasi secara serius sesuai dengan kerangka modernitas. Sebab, mempertahankan pemikiran kelembagaan Islam “tradisional” hanya akan memperpanjang nestapa ketidakberdayaan kaum muslim dalam berhadapan dengan kemajuan dunia modern. This paper intends to examine the Azyumardi Azra thinking about Islamic education and focuses on informal Islamic education institutions, boarding school (Pesantren). In view of Azra, boarding schools as an integral part of national education has been recognized its role as agents of social change. Therefore, they are required to continue their role in a proactive and dynamic way. Theirpresence is expected to bring about change, as well as provide significant contributions to improve the people lives in general and Muslims in particular. However, along with the times, especially in globalization era, boarding schools are facing problems due to the impact of globalization,whichis not finished even to the fibrous tangles. As a result, boarding schools are now regarded by many people(both of the Islamic education manager and the broader community) as a second class education.Therefore, in order to continue its role, i.e. to producehuman beings who have knowledge, technology, highly skilled, devout and do good behave, they must be seriously modernized in accordance with the framework of modernity. In case of maintaining the Islamic "traditional" institutional thinking will only prolong the agony of Muslim helplessness in dealing with the development of modern world.

<p>Abstrak: Pendidikan Islam dan Pemberdayaan: Studi Kasus Pesantren pada Muslim Minoritas Papua Barat. Pendidikan Islam Indonesia merupakan salah satu pilar pendidikan nasional yang memiliki sejarah panjang. Dalam dinamika pembangunan, pesantren kembali membuktikan diri sebagai elemen penting bangsa. Tulisan ini membahas aktivitas dan gerakan madrasah di daerah minoritas Muslim dalam upaya membangun kapasitas umat melalui pembelajaran kewirausahaan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan ragam studi kasus. Observasi dan wawancara diterapkan untuk mengumpulkan data. Penulis menemukan adanya pelatihan dan pembelajaran berbasis kebutuhan mendorong siswa untuk menekuni keterampilan untuk aktivitas sehari-hari. Pesantren Roudhotul Khuffadz mengembangkan pola pembelajaran dengan mengacu kepada lingkungan peserta didik. Disimpulkan bahwa pendidikan Islam dengan tumpuan pada kebutuhan dan kepedulian akan lingkungan dapat memberdayakan santri untuk penguasaan keterampilan, walaupun itu dilaksanakan dengan keterbatasan komunitas di wilayah minoritas Muslim.</p><p><br />Abstract: Islamic education in Indonesia is one pilar in national education whis has a long history. In the course of time with development dynamics, pesantren (Islamic boarding school) proves as a nation-wide important element. Therefore, this paper will explore dicsuccion on activity and madrasah movement in Muslim minority in term capacity building through enterprenurship learning. This study was employed qualitative approach with miscellaneous case study. Observation and in-depth interview were conducted on collecting data. This research shows that daily-need based training and learning encourages students to enhance their skills during day after day activities. Pesantren Roudhatul Khuffadz enlarges learning cycle according to students’ environment. Finally, it can be concluded that Islamic education can develop students’ skill acquicition, although it is practiced with community limitation in Muslim minority area.</p><p><br />Keywords: pesantren, religious education, Muslim minority, West Papua</p>

This paper aims to develop an Ulul Ilmi model in Islamic Education learning for the character of 21st-century students, which, of course, can help. Realize these national education goals—the research method used using a qualitative approach and literature study techniques in collecting data. Based on the findings, the Ulul Ilmi Model is very supportive in Islamic Religious Education learning because it has extreme divine values to achieve ma'rifatullah goals to shape 21st-century students' character. The method used is the method (1) the uswah hasanah method, an exemplary method that must be applied to an educator and passed on to students, (2) the ibrah mauidzah method, which is a learning method that must be delivered in the classroom, and (3) the targhib tarhib method, a method of strengthening for character building. Thus this pattern is later called the Ulul Ilmi model. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model Ulul Ilmi dalam pembelajaran PAI untuk pencapaian karakter mahasiswa abad 21, yang tentunya dapat membantu merealisasikan tujuan pendidikan Nasional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan teknik studi pustaka dalam pengumpulkan data. Berdasarkan hasil temuan, model Ulul Ilmi ini sangat memungkinkan untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam, karena memiliki nilai Ilahiyyah yang sangat kuat mencapai tujuan ma’rifatullah dalam rangka membentuk karakter mahasiswa abad 21. Metode yang digunakan ialah (1) metode uswah hasanah, yang merupakan metode keteladanan yang wajib diterapkan bagi seorang pendidik dan diwariskan kepada para peserta didik, (2) metode ibrah mauidzah, merupakan metode pembelajaran yang wajib untuk disampaikan di dalam kelas, dan (3) metode targhib tarhib, yakni metode penguatan untuk penanaman karakter. Dengan demikian pola inilah yang kemudian disebut sebagai model Ulul Ilmi.

Education reform aims to be effective and efficient in achieving national education goals. In Laws and Regulations seen the desire of the Indonesian government to empower the people of Indonesia through the provision of superior education. The government clearly has put content standards, processes, competence of graduates, educators and education personnel, facilities and infrastructure,management, finance, and educational assessment.Over a period of more than five decades since Indonesia is free fromcolonialism, Islamic education can be said to have not been able to contribute anything to the progress of the nation, in addition to not being able to complain when required role in addressing the problems of this nation’s morals and mentality. Islamic education and Islamic boarding school either unwittingly still stuck on dichotomous orientation. The indication, the Islamic educational institutions is the transformation of knowledge and religious values was so strong that it is almost forgotten reality of the labor market.

This study investigates the prevention of juvenile delinquency at a boarding school, i.e. Daarut Tauhid Secondary Boarding School. The aim of this study is to explore the preventive and repressive attempts made by the boarding school to overcome juvenile delinquency. This study employed a qualitative approach in the framework of a study case method. Observation, interview, and documentation were used as the data collection. The informants of this study consisted of Darut Tauhid Boarding School staffs, the students, and the people who lived around the school area. The results of this study show that the preventive and repressive attempt to prevent juvenile delinquency is made by maximizing the role of Islamic education.

This paper aims to offer a comprehensive idea for one of the issues of Indonesia’s education, particularly in Islamic education. The issues deal with low student achievement as well as the phenomenon of teacher situated in a mechanistic curriculum, through motivation theories proposed by Abraham Maslow and David McClelland. A qualitative approach was designed in this library research. The study employed discourse analysis and cultural analysis as the methods of data analysis regarding the reality of Indonesia’s education. This study promotes the urgency of enhancing students’ motivation in experiencing Islamic education, either by fulfilling five basic needs as suggested in the Maslow’s theory or by fostering need for achievement (nAch) as portrayed in the McClelland’s theory, to explore the national education problems. This study depicts that motivation constitutes the main factor that significantly contributes to students’ achievement. It, likewise, denotes the students’ abilities in developing learning materials through their creativity and innovations in terms of their own potential, specifically for Islamic education

AbstractThis research was conducted using the qualitative approach. Data collection was done using in-depth interviews, participatory observation. This study aims at uncovering the religious, economic, and educational roles at Ki Ageng Selo Islamic Boarding School. In religious affairs, the boarding school has portrayed itself as a spiritual guide for the people. The interaction between the boarding school and the community in economic development spawned economic independence in the boarding school. Education developed was traditional (salafi) Islamic education focusing on religion teaching in order to preserve of salafi values both tafaqquh fi addin tradition and the culture.AbstraksiPe­ne­li­ti­an ini di­la­ku­kan de­ngan pen­de­kat­an kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara menda­lam, observasi partisipatif. Pe­ne­li­ti­an ini bertujuan mengungkap peran ke­aga­ma­an, ekonomi, dan Pen­di­dik­an di Pondok Pe­san­tren Ki Ageng Selo. Da­lam hal ke­aga­ma­an, pe­san­tren ini telah memerankan diri sebagai pemandu spritual bagi ma­sya­ra­kat. Adanya interaksi antara pe­san­tren dan ma­sya­ra­kat da­lam pengembangan ekonomi melahirkan pola kemandirian ekonomi di pe­san­tren. Pen­di­dik­an yang dikembangkan berjenis Pen­di­dik­an sa­la­fi­yah yang fokus pengajaran agamanya sehingga terjaga nilai-nilai kesa­la­fi­yahan baik tradisi tafaqquh fi addin maupun kulturalnya.

<p class="06IsiAbstrak"><span lang="EN-GB">This research is a research with a qualitative approach through descriptive-analytical methods. The technique of collecting data through observation, interviews and documentation. <span>The urgency of this study is to find out more about how ideal leaders in Islam are in the view of academics (lecturers) who should have enough observant and critical thinking in choosing a leader. The problem that the researchers raised in this study was; how is the ideal leader figure in Islam the perspective of the Holy IAIN lecturer? </span>The results showed that the ideal leader figure in Islam was the perspective of the Holy IAIN lecturer as a trustworthy leader, a fair leader, a leader who promoted deliberation (shura), a leader who enforced <em>amr ma'ruf nahi munkar</em>, protecting the people, a leader who provided employment, leaders who pay attention to the welfare of honorary teachers, wise leaders regarding the rules of finger print.</span></p>
