AbstractCurrent development of renewable energy systems (RES) is characterised by an increasing participation of citizens in the upstream decision-making process. These citizens can be future users of the RES but also members of a Renewable Energy Community that develop RES. They can be at the same time Renewable Energy producer, investor and consumer. Moreover, several type of businesses and terms are used to cope with social innovations within the energy sector: local renewable projects, sustainable energy communities or community of renewable energy production. So, actors' engagement opens new solutions for designers who are induced to share alternatives before making decisions. They usually impose constraints since the early phases of the design process. This approach implies for designers to consider new criteria related to citizens motivations and barriers. This paper presents a study to define the main factors that drive people to contribute in social innovation schemes for clean-energy transition. After a state of the art, a survey about 6 main factors and 18 criteria is presented. The analysis based on the responses from 34 participants (i.e. experts) reveals 2 most important factors of motivation and 2 principal barrier sources.

Shared between Human-Computer Interaction and Cultural Heritage, the concept of Cultural Presence may provide an encompassing theoretical and methodological framework for Virtual Archaeology. The factors underlying presence have been extensively investigated, by means of both particular analyses as well as general statistical approaches. Yet, Cultural Presence has mostly been defined theoretically, and there are no global empirical examinations of it. The goal of this study is to verify the validity of the concept and to understand its underlying factors in the field of Virtual Archaeology. To that end we established an operational definition of Cultural Presence, we built a virtual reconstruction of an archaeological site based on it, and we evaluated the environment by means of self-reports and exploratory factor analysis. The general conclusion is that the concept of Cultural Presence is sound and composed of three main factors (cultural representation and engagement, social presence, and communicational aspects of technology); yet, it is not universal, but influenced by purpose and demographic variables.

In this paper we introduce the concept of ‘islands of sustainability’. The basic assumption is that the development towards sustainability can be introduced starting from sustainable islands'. An island is an area where sustainability is reached at a local or regional level. Exchange activities within the regional network and with the environment are key points in creating an island of sustainability. One of the main theses is that the concept of sustainability addresses not only the interactions between the economic system and the ecosphere, but also structural aspects of the anthropogenic system, such as the economic diversity and economic connectedness. Hence, sustainability is linked to the complexity of the regional network. In order to attain sustainability the intensity, the speed, and comprehensiveness of internal and external interactions, as well as the connectedness of the regional network, have to be changed. In this paper we examine the regional system. The structure, elements, interactions, and boundaries of the regional system are discussed in detail. This systems analysis is the basis of the definition of islands of sustainability. Once we reach sustainable development within islands, we then turn our discussion to the change of the whole unsustainable economic system. Islands of sustainability can be seen as ‘troublemakers’ which infiltrate the whole unsustainable system and act as cells of development.

Background. Ensuring the necessary and sufficient level of economic security is one of the most important issues for any enterprise. The conceptual bases of the theory of economic safety of the enterprise defines the strategy, tactics and mechanism of its maintenance, so it is very important to understand the essence of "economic interest" concept. The aim of the article is to clarify the content of the "economic interest of the enterprise" concept and systematize the main essential characteristics of the definition. Materials and мethods. The questions of theoretical substantiation of the research object are based on general and special methods of cognition such as historical, abstract-logical and comparative. Methods of analysis and synthesis, analogies, system approach are used as a concept to determine the essential characteristics of the definition of"economic interest of the enterprise". Method of theoretical generalization and formulation of deductions have been used to draw conclusions. Results. Studies of the terminological principles of determining the economic interest of the enterprise have established a large number of scientists’ opinions on the content of this concept. They are grouped into five main approaches – the appropriate goal; certain material (non-material) good; the need or system of needs of the entity; expression of relations between the respective subjects; motivation and stimulus of the subject. Therefore, it is proposed to consider the economic interests of the enterprise, based on the awareness of their carriers of their own economic needs. The study clarified the main essential characteristics of "economic interest of the enterprise" the concept, which includes the fact that economic interests are a form of manifestation of economic needs; personalized and subjective nature of economic interests; focus on obtaining various benefits; awareness of the impact of media on the economic system and economic processes; dual nature of economic interests. Conclusion. We clarified the definition of economic interests of the enterprise. It is proposed to consider the concept as the perceived needs of their carriers, which can be met through economic activities and encourage them to influence directly or indirectly the components of the domestic economic system in order to obtain certain benefits.
