The current state of the study of Russian dialects in Karelian Seaside is analyzed, the territory of the studied region, which coincides with the boundaries of the dialectal division of the Russian language in 1915 is indicated. It is shown that the exclusion of Karelian Seaside from the dialectal division of 1965, which was an indirect reason for the lack of proper research attention to this region is unjustified. An overview of linguistic works devoted to the study of various language levels (phonetic, grammatical, lexical) is presented. The review of dictionaries, including the vocabulary of Russian dialects of the Karelian Seaside, is carried out. The prospects and objectives of the study are determined. In particular, future research is associated with comparative work on the study of the preservation / change of linguistic phenomena at each level, including the lexical one, which is the most stable in its main core. It is primarily due to extralinguistic reasons. Particular attention is paid to the use of digital technologies when creating a textual database, tested on the materials of the Karelian Seaside. It is noted that the electronic resource will make it possible to constantly introduce new data into scientific circulation, connecting them to various aspects of research, both linguistic and broader humanitarian.

Language policy issues are inextricably linked with the socio-political vectors of development of a state. The significance of this problem field is actualised with a number of examples from modern history, when the "language issue" became a source of social tension, led to various kinds of conflicts, including interstate ones. The article is devoted to the analytical study of the modern specifics of language policy in the CIS countries. Research attention is focused on nine states that are active members of the integration association (Ukraine, which de facto does not participate in the activities of the Commonwealth, and Russia are not considered due to the presence of administrative national autonomies and the number of different ethno-cultural communities, as well as the need to reflect in the work the peculiarities of the functioning of the Russian language, which has a special status in the region). The practice of implementing the language policy pursued in the CIS countries allows to generalize and compare the experience of states that have relatively recently received sovereignty and the ability to form an appropriate agenda independently. The analysis made it possible to identify the general directions of language policy, typical for individual countries: 1) protection of the languages of the titular nation with the consolidation of their status as the only state and official for all spheres of communicative interaction (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Uzbekistan); 2) carrying out an alphabetical reform in order to switch to the Latin alphabet (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan); 3) implementation of the policy of state bi- or polylingualism (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan); 4) attempts to solve precedent linguistic problems (nomination of the state language for Moldova, the status of the Russian language for Armenia and Georgia).

The article considers the current state of the Russian language. Information technologies in the twenty first century present diverse forms of linguistic knowledge and modalities of knowledge quantisation in a linguistic sign. The Russian language develops from a standard, direct expression of thoughts to a nonstandard, psychologically complex, associative deep statement of thoughts. In the early nineteenth century, during the democratisation of the Russian language, a national genius, Alexander Pushkin, emerged. Thanks to him, the unique informational, cultural, and artistic evolution of the language took place. Nowadays, while democratisation and globalisation, processes which resemble the language evolution 200 years ago, are occurring. These processes suggest some patterns: overcoming stylistic disparity, changes in linguistic sign boundaries and semantic extension.

This article is devoted to the study of features of the formation and the current state of Russian-speaking communities in two countries — Hungary and the Czech Republic. In this article we uses data from the 2011 census, data from the current population registration of Hungary and the Czech Republic, UN data on the foreign population in the countries of the world according to the 2019-revision, materials of Russian-language publications in Hungary and the Czech Republic, as well as the results of a sociological survey of the Russian-speaking population of Hungary, conducted in 2019. We describe the socio-demographic structure and features of the settlement of the Russian-speaking population in Hungary and the Czech Republic. It is shown that an important factor in the consolidation of Russian-speaking communities in these countries is the preservation of the Russian language and possibilities of using it in various daily practices: communication in everyday life, looking for a job, organizing a business focused on the Russian-speaking segment of the national economies of the host countries. In this context, the active position of the Russian state in supporting Russian compatriots abroad is of fundamental importance. The paper analyzes some instruments of interaction between Russia and compatriots in Hungary and the Czech Republic: support and joint activities for the preservation and dissemination of the Russian language, cultural, scientific and educational projects, and projects aimed at increasing the interest of young compatriots to Russia.

In modern conditions, no one needs to convince anyone how relevant everything is connected with the Russian language, how unacceptably low is the effectiveness of his teaching in school. And we, following the author, cannot but ask ourselves a set of questions that are crucial in the full sense of the word. Do we want the Russian language not only to be inferior in the number of speakers of the most common languages, but also to occupy a leading place in the modern world? Do we want to. for the state Russian language to become native for every citizen of our country? Do we consider the current situation to be normal when Russians and Russian-speaking flyers receive unsatisfactory marks in the Russian language? And, finally, why is the efficiency of teaching Russian in school so low, and what should and can be done to change the situation radically? It is extremely important that in this book the well-known teacher Ya.S. Turbovsky not only analyzes the current state of Russian language, and these are undoubtedly relevant to each of us questions are put, but the countries, school, each family need answers and, which is especially significant and vital, the ways of achieving them are revealed. The language of the book, its undisguised publicism, adequate to the relevance of the modern state not only of the Russian language itself, but of the whole complex of problems connected with the teaching and knowledge of this great language, will undoubtedly strengthen its influence not only on specialists, methodologists, teachers, but also on mass reader.

With the growing fleet of a new generation electric vehicles (EVs), it is essential to develop an adequate high power charging infrastructure that can mimic conventional gasoline fuel stations. Therefore, much research attention must be focused on the development of off-board DC fast chargers which can quickly replenish the charge in an EV battery. However, use of the service transformer in the existing fast charging architecture adds to the system cost, size and complicates the installation process while directly connected to medium-voltage (MV) line. With continual improvements in power electronics and magnetics, solid state transformer (SST) technology can be adopted to enhance power density and efficiency of the system. This paper aims to review the current state of the art architectures and challenges of fast charging infrastructure using SST technology while directly connected to the MV line. Finally, this paper discusses technical considerations, challenges and introduces future research possibilities.

This work-in-progress study focuses on the implementation of digital media into the Russian language classroom at secondary schools in the German-speaking countries of Austria, Germany, and the trilingual region South Tyrol. The data were collected in a mixed-methods procedure: quantitative data from online-questionnaires and qualitative data from face-to-face, semi-structured interviews with teachers and learners of Russian. The data from the online-surveys were analysed with descriptive statistics and that of the interviews with qualitative content analysis. The results from the online-surveys illustrate the kinds of digital devices that are employed, the frequency of their use, and the purposes digital media are intended to fulfil in the Russian language classroom. Another finding concerns the teachers’ digital literacy, suggesting that only half of the Russian teachers can create online language learning tasks. The paper closes with implications for pre- and in-service teacher education and future research.
