It is noted that the research of any sphere of human activity, including scientific, is subject to the general laws of the cognitive process and is implemented with the help of methodological regulations. During the analysis of the specifics of the formation of research work, it was established that scientific research has its own, unique and inherent features, stipulated by the specifics of the interaction of the subject and object under study, the features of the means and ways of achieving possible results, etc. It is indicated that the purpose of scientific research is to identify key categories and principles, as well as the formulation of theoretical and applied provisions that explain natural and social phenomena. The key methodological foundations of scientific activity has been defined. It is noted that during the formation of the conceptual foundations of the organization of scientific research and research work methods of divergence, convergence and transformation are being used. On the basis of analysis and critical analysis of scientific sources, which covers the methodology of scientific research and research planning, the stages of organization and conduction of scientific research has been highlighted and analyzed. It is summarized that the analysis of the methodology of scientific research indicates the requirement for further development of methodological aspects on the organization and conduction of scientific research. The accelerating of development pace of theory and practice requires not only further improvement of traditional research methods, but also the development of innovative forms of scientific activity, the application of which would increase the effectiveness of scientific research. That is why the study and development of research methodology is a prerequisite for the effectiveness of science and its operational implementation in the practice of scientific knowledge.

Abstract It is, indeed, a very great honor to have been chosen as the Charles Goodyear Medalist for 1967, and I very much appreciate the opportunity of coming here to tell you about some of the research work in the field of rubber with which I have been associated for a number of years. The bylaws of the Division of Rubber Chemistry, A.C.S., require that the recipient of this award deliver a lecture before the Division on a subject that is related to the elastomer field and presented in accordance with the contribution for which the medal is awarded. It should, therefore, be quite appropriate for me to discuss one of my favorite subjects, the crystallization of natural rubber. My first thought was to talk on a broader subject, transitions in rubber, which would have included the glass transition, but such a paper was found to be much too long. Even the subject of the crystallization and melting transition is so broad that only a very condensed version can be given here today. In fact, the references for a proper review would run into the hundreds, so therefore I decided to restrict the paper to cover only the research work that has taken place in our own laboratories of the National Bureau of Standards. I should like to consider this award as one given not to me alone but rather to the group of us at the National Bureau of Standards who have been conducting scientific research on rubber during the past few decades. The names of most of these investigators who have made contributions in the area of rubber crystallization will appear in the bibliography of the published paper, but I should like at this time to name a few of the senior scientists whose work we shall discuss here.

The article is devoted to the methodology of formation of the ecologically interpreted outlook, different kinds of which determine the formation and resolution of environmental problems. The author makes an attempt to develop methodological tools to research the ecological components of social outlook and the concept of highly ecological, holistic worldview (the worldview of ecocentrism), as opposed to the atomic technocratic worldview of anthropocentrism, which fundamentally denies nature. As a major methodological tool of constructing this methodology, the principle of ecological holism was selected, where holism is interpreted as complex (in the absence of organization in the system) or systemic, and where ecological holism is interpreted as environmentalism, involving completeness and integrity of views on the relationship between society and nature. The article puts forward the idea that environmentalism is a variant of holism.

The novelty and the heuristic of the author's approach is in the attempt to explicate the component of the ecological worldview as an environmental outlook represented in the form of varieties of the not-ecological worldview and the worldview of ecocentrism, which is truly holistic. The significance of the results lies in the attempt to identify and explain the origins of environmental problems in the individual psyche, generalized opinions of people on their relationship with nature, in the consciousness of society, and in pointing out the conditions, means, ways of formation and implementation of corresponding to the nature worldview as a guarantor of the settlement of these problems.

A philosophical representation of the concept of environmental philosophy and methodology of his study is a contribution to the further development of the new ideological paradigm and the subject of the new environmental philosophy. It is highly necessary to develop and introduce the research methodology of the ecologically oriented worldview phenomenon into philosophical issues for the formation of environmental values and for resolving the global ecocrisis.

COVID-19, What to do now? This issue has had devastating effects in all domains of society worldwide. Lockdowns, the lack of freedom and social distancing meant the closure of a country’s entire activity. Having effects at all levels, beside incalculable ones in health, it is argued that scientific activity in education, business, economics and management suffered some of the most drastic impacts of this pandemic. This study aims to map the scientific literature in these areas in the context of COVID-19 and analyze its content through bibliometrics, which made it possible to highlight the scarcity of studies on the topic, namely empirical studies on the effects of this pandemic on scientific research and teaching/education. The results show there is a lack of peer-reviewed publications on this topic, with the studies covered (93) via the threads used revealing only 28 articles coming within the proposed objective. The bibliometrics corroborates that shortage. Finally, the contributions and implications for theory and practice are presented, followed by the limitations and suggestions for future research.

The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the main factors of the modern development of Ukraine – the scientific provision of the innovative character of the socio-economic development of Ukraine. The main attention is paid to the analysis of scientific activity in the field of higher education..The system of higher education, along with the provision of a staffing component of the innovative economy, serves as a connecting link that combines education, science and production into a single whole..Organization of scientific work at the universities differs from the one at the academic and industry research organizations because the use and implementation of research results at universities takes place directly in the process of education and improvement of personnel training. This determines the specific problems of management and organization of research work in the higher education institutions. The article reveals the negative changes that have taken place in the scientific sector over the past 20 years. Analysis of development of the scientific sphere data, their comparison with the data of developed countries indicate that the main reason for reducing the amount of scientific research, the number of scientific institutions, the number of scientists was a decrease in the funding of science. The main attention is paid to the analysis of scientific activity in the field of higher education, which concentrates most of the country’s scientific potential. The organization of scientific work in institutions of higher education and the effectiveness of its management structures are researched. The main modern problems of the university science development are formulated, their content is disclosed and ways of overcoming the crisis phenomena in the scientific sector of higher education are formulated.
